Simple: Activity.

You have to have a visible presence, otherwise you won't get noticed. You just don't get promoted due to the amount of time that you've been in The Vast Empire.

Get on mIRC a lot more frequently and post more often. If you're squad is going inactive or is inactive, do something to pick that up. Your Squad Leaders don't have to carry the ball all the time. Squad Member assistance is heavily encouraged.

Recruiting is also another biggie, and it is what we need right now. More members.
