Xaphrael kept on flying, edging in and out among th mass of organic debris that used to be Yavin IV. It was great. They had almost completed their mission. Now they just have to pick out the remanents of the Rebel fleet. So much for a surprise attack.
Thanks to Warmaker, the Millenium Falcon is destroyed. That was one great obstacle out of the way. The Millenium Falcon had been a great pest, a irritating object that has been hindering Viper Flight One’s every move. With it out of the way, the end of this simulator is almost in sight.
Xaphrael grinned at the fireball that was once the Millenium Falcon before dipping back down to the Death Star’s surface and taking out more X-wings. Buzzing past one, he gunned down another and yet another. The X-wing were easy to kill. It was almost an effortless effort, so devastated and down heartened by the fact that their Rebel Base is destroyed. Xaphrael was not sure where the in the hell Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles is but he sure hoped that they had an excellent view of this massive destruction. It would be nice to kill them, but it would be nicer to let them live, and carry this burden and a sense of failure for the rest of their lives ….

As Xaphrael was just thinking evil thoughts about burdening Wedge Antilles and Luke Skywalker with failure for the rest of their mortal lives, a dual burst flew by his Interceptor. The right shot skimmed the top of his right support pylon, cutting some power cables but not harming anything too seriously. On the left side he was not as lucky. The blast had trimmed about a meter off of the bottom of his solar panel. If he pushed too hard now the wing could shear off, leaving him to spiral into anonymous death against the Deathstar.
He went evasive immediately, but it’s hard to zig and zag when you were shaken that badly and your ship was about to fall apart. He was only saved from certain destruction by a quad burst from Gardoon shaking the X-Wing pilot’s concentration. At first he didn’t realize the fire had stopped, but as soon as he did he went into a turn. It wasn’t a very sharp turn, but it was the most he could manage considering the circumstances. Flipping his lasers to quad fire he let off a shot on the X when he finally came to be facing it. The X was pulling up and to the right to track Gardoon, figuring Xaphrael was good as dead. He figured wrong. The first blast missed behind him by no more than 30 cm. The second hit closer to home, but his right side lasers were overheating and his bottom left cannon was missing. It appeared as if Gardoon would have to kill the rebel himself to everyone watching outside the sims.

'Crapper!' Xaphrael yelled as he fought to keep his TIE Interceptor alive through the mess, but with the engines whining and almost all his weaponry gone, Xaphrael realised that he did not have much of an option. Grinding his teeth, Xaphrael turned his dying starfighter and plunged it straight into the nearest X-wing, bringing it down with him. Explosions rocketed his tiny cockpit and Xaphrael felt the searing before he eyes went black ...
.. and back into the interior of his simulator. Xaphrael sighed and climbed out and dropped lightly onto the cold granite floor before joining some Vipers sitting and watching the simulator screen.
'Heh, they got you eh?' Warmaker grinned as he threw to Xaphrael a Jack Daniels as Xaphrael ploped into the nearby chair.
'Yeah, rammed myself into a X-wing.' Xaphrael answered.
'We saw that.' Warmaker replied as he motioned to the simulator screen where now only a few Vipers remained flying.
'At the rate we are going I think we will need to start the second mission soon.' Xaphrael said as he finished his first and grabbed the next one.
'Nope, that's enough.' Warmaker said as he leaned over and grabbed the Jack Daniel from Xaphrael's hands. 'I dont want my pilots to be drunk when they are flying.' Warmaker tossed a Mountain Dew to Xaphrael.
Xaphrael grinned and started drinking Mountain Dew. -----------------------

With 6 Vipers left mopping up the last 2 or 3 X-Wings was no problem. Flight Three, with Piett, Gravin and Scout still fully operational, took down the only remaining Y-Wing quite easily. Gardoon fell prey to the X-Wing that was chasing him when Xaphrael crashed into the other X-Wing but before he could even get out of his simulator and over to the viewscreen MegaDeth swooped in on him and finished him with a couple of shots. Zed was the only one remaining in his flight and the final 2 X-Wings were right on his tail, taking turns trying to blast him. Flight Three got over to him just before MegaDeth could. With 12 laser canons concentrating their fire on it the top right X dropped in 1 salvo and a mop up shot from Piett. MegaDeth then came in and surprised the final X-Wing with 3 quick dual shots. These dropped it’s shields and a firm blast to the engines from Scout had him flaming into the surface of the Deathstar. As soon as the final X crashed the simulators dimmed down and the occupants stepped out.
Good-natured jokes were made and congratulations given out. All the pilots were telling stories of their dogfights and kills. As soon as the joking was over WM ordered the squadron to a briefing area. Everyone walked over with a smile on his face; they had successfully completed their mission.

as the Viper Pilots enterd the Briefing Room, Warmaker called over a intern Com Coffee. All the Pilots where now tired, the Simulator Mission was long, longer as the original historychal Battle.
"Ok guys, we completted our First Mission in the new Simulators, a very good Job out there" said Warmaker
"Yeah, we riped the Rebels apart" said Xaphrael which let a few other Pilots laugh. The new Pilot who just finished his Training and was placed in Viper Squadron a few Days before has himself perfectly integrated in Viper.
"Yes we have" answerd Warmaker "We had the advantage of more knowledge then the Pilots back in the Time the Deathstar was destroyd, but still, we managed to finish of the incoming Starfighters and our Deathstar destroyd Yavin with the complett Leadership from the Rebels."
The Viper pilots started to cheer which brought a smile on Warmakers face. Viper Squadron was not only a Squadron of a few Pilots, no Viper Squadron was a Team.
"Ok guys, we will have more Missions in the Sims before we head out in a new War. These Missions trains us to fight perfectly as Team together and to know our Equipment. As you have maybe recognised, we used Tie Interceptors and not Tie Fighters as in the original Time of the Battle, we done that to see if it had been a advantage if the Interceptor had been developt earlier."
"Yeah, now when you say it, i remember, they had only Tie Fighters" said MegaDeth
"Yes, they had Tie Fighters, but for that was also Darth Vader in the Mission and more Starfighters to fights against the Rebels. Anyway, we have Completed succesfully our Mission" said Warmaker and closed the de Briefing
