IntroductionA long time ago, as part of the command center development, Kadann had comissioned me to look into the possibilty of integrating a "stat" system of sorts for the VE, especially with the focus of integrating into the cybernetics feature he had in the works. Unfortunately the command center hasn't been completed as of yet, but I have had the RPG system around for quite some time collecting dust. With both the approval of Jeg and Stormz, I am now brushing off that dust for an experimentation with it.
Essentially, I want six volunteers (ideally three Army, three Navy, but subject to modification based on applications) who will then write up (and eventually stat up) members of the Imperial Expansionary Corps and run through a mission under my direction.
The Vast Imperial Expansionary CorpsSome of you may have noticed them on
this chart of the VE's Organization. They are essentially the exploration and reconisannce division of the VE, with one of their tasks being to delve into the Unknown Regions around VE space, exploring systems and planets. Their operations can vary greatly, from simply locating suitable planets for mining operations, recruitment of governments into Imperial colonies, to even taking preliminary hostile action against threats if necessary.
Your folks will be taking the role of a six-man/woman/wookiee/whathaveyou team. which typically include a military oriented commander with a good grasp of tactics, two more well trained soldiers, a pilot, a scientist, and a diplomatic/linguist/intelligence person. Sometimes these roles mesh/merge a bit, and all personnel are expected to carry their weight should firefights break out.
How Will This Work?For the most part, this will be very much like your traditional story writing you do in your division (be it squad, fleet, fighter, whatnot), however you may not always be able to outright do things. Heavy IRC cooperation/discussion is ideal to keep everyone on the same page. Your group of six will be assigned a mission to an outlying Unknown Regions planet to investigate its potential use to the Vast Empire. I will be playing the role of any potential obstacles/opposition. Together, we can write a story that evolves forward based on your characters, with potential for mission failure should you make too many mistakes.
ApplicationsFirst and foremost, please ensure you can dedicate yourself to this without adversely affecting your normal division activity. If I feel you cannot do this, your application will unfortunately not be accepted. This is not a replacement for your standard VE activities and duties, if you start to falter, I will not hesitate to remove you from the playtest.

- Why are you interested in doing this?
- Are you certain that you can dedicate the time to do this as well as perform your typical division activities? I'm hoping for two posts per week on the story.
- Do you have any experience with RPG systems, if so what? Even if you do not, I will still seriously consider the application, I just like to know if you have done anything similar. You could argue that KotOR 1/2 count, as well as several other video games, as long as you understand their mechanics somehow.
- Could you be so kind as to include a link to a peice of writing you have done? Something you feel will help me understand what you can bring to the story portion of this.
- Do you have an idea for a character (or two, backups are good) that you wish to employ for this? It helps me know what roles you are interested in, and thus choose people who will help cover all of them.
- If at all possible, try to get a superior officer to give me a PM with a recommendation. I won't hold it against you if you can't arrange one, but having one certainly helps me have some more information.
- IRC, are you able to be on semi-regularly? I won't outright deny you if you can't, but keep in mind I do want to be in regular contact of some form to help keep everyone on the same page as well as get your feedback as we go.
- Do you recognize Doc as your god and master for all enternity, holding rights to your soul? He is a generous and benevolent ruler and most certainly will act in your best interests as long as you bring him drinks (he likes pina coladas).
