So, like any full-fledged division of the VE, the Marine Corps will need some awards. I, however, am particularly terrible at coming up with such things, or naming such things (see: my whole tenure as NCC where I did not add any new awards at all).

Now, the Marine Corps is designed to support our TOR efforts. To that end, I figure most of the awards should be based off of a combination of in-game achievements (first character to 50, one of each advanced class to 50, successful completion of each operation [the first time], certain PVP or social ranks, etc), and contributions to the in-game community within the guild (and without, really) - like organizing guild events, donating x amount to a guild bank (if we have one - not too sure on that), building alliances, recruiting new members, generally and consistently being helpful and friendly, etc.

I'm sure there are more things that we could potentially recognize, but I wanted to get some more general input. I don't want to drown every VEMC member in medals and awards, but I still want to recognize notable achievements within the game and contributions to the overall community.

Here are some of the ideas I've had so far (many pilfered and adapted from the awards provided by the USMC :P)

Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal [MCEM] - awarded to members of the Army and Navy for joining up with the Marine Corps and serving within the in-game guild for a period of at least 6 months. Conversely awarded to members of the Marine Corps for joining either the Army or the Navy and serving for a period of at least 6 months.

Logic: This recognizes existing VE members for joining up with those of us that are in TOR and encourages recruits we get in-game to join the Army and Navy, and hopefully help to drive up membership in those divisions.

Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal [GCM] - Awarded to members of the Marine Corps who have notably and consistently contributed to the positive atmosphere and community of the VEMC. (Possibly over some set period? 6months?)

Combat Action Ribbon [CAR] - Awarded to members for reaching some (high) level of PVP ranking - possibly something involving a mix of Warzone and world pvp? Unsure.

Eternity Vault Campaign Medal [EVCM] - for first successful completion of the Eternity Vault

Kragga's Palace Campaign Medal [KPCM] - for first successful completion of Kragga's Palace

Marine Corps Achievement Medal [AM] - for leveling one character all the way to 50

Marine Corps Commendation Medal [CM] - for leveling one character of each Imperial Advanced class to 50 (if these are on other servers, an officer must make a character on one of those other servers to directly observe the existence of the characters in question). (possibly switch this to just base classes instead of advanced classes? There are 4 base classes but 8 advanced classes - one can have up to 8 characters on a server, so this seems to jive, to my thinking)

Covert Action Award [CAA] - leveling a Republic character to 50 (possibly award pips/service stars for multiple republic characters? - this would be the only award for having republic characters. I'll probably level a few just to see the stories, myself :P)

Meritorious Unit Commendation [MUC] - for fire teams/squads/somethings (units :P) that distinguish themselves in some way that needs further definition but definitely sets them somehow above their peers.

Sounds good to me.  Had a few comments on some of the medals.

Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal [MCEM] - This would also need to require that the member remains active in either the Army/Navy during that whole period of time while active in the Marines.  So basically would require the activity in at least 2 divisions.

Marine Corps Commendation Medal [CM] - This would take awhile to level 8 characters all the way to level 50.  How about a medal awarded for each level 50 character that is created.  Perhaps the 'Marine Corps Achievement Medal [AM]' award can be given for each character that is leveled to 50.

Covert Action Award [CAA] - By leveling a Republic character, this could be construed as a traitorous act unless the member acted as a spy providing intel to the Marines about the movement of the Republic.  We don't want to ruin the experience of the game-play for any Republic gamers, but we do want spies in the Republic to find out plans so that the Empire can be ready for action where needed.

I'll definitely level at least 1 Republic character at some point, but will mainly use it as a spy to befriend and infiltrate our enemy guilds so that we know what they're doing.

The MCEM is only intended for those that are active in other divisions. I, for example, would not be eligible since I'm really only going to be in the VEMC. If I reactivated my Navy character, then I would be (but that's unlikely to happen, frankly). I'm up in the air as to whether or not the DJO would count toward this, but I lean towards 'not' so as to generally encourage activity within the Army and Navy.

Regarding the Commendation Medal/Achievement medal - this is why I considered perhaps leveling one of each base class (and thus seeing all four Imperial stories) instead of one of each Advanced Class (since both advanced classes for a given base class share the same story). Really it is mostly my intent to recognize when people have put forth the time and effort to level multiple characters. Maybe have the AM awarded for the 1st 50, then add service stars to it for each other base class gotten to 50, and then have the CM given if you level a second character of the same base class but different advanced class, with similar service stars for multiple awards? So, for example, if I start with a Sith Warrior, I go Juggernaught at 10, and then go to 50, I get the AM. If I then level an Operative to 50, I get a service star on my AM. If my third character is then a Marauder, I get the CM and would get a service star then for leveling a Sniper as a fourth character. (Is that too complicated?)

That's sort of the intent with the CAA as well - I think we all understand that we're an Imperial Guild and that as such your main character(s) will also be Imperial. There are, however, four other class stories sitting over on the other side, and I'd like to see them, myself. I probably won't play Republic characters all that extensively - I probably won't even join any guilds with them. They will not, in my case, even be on whatever server we land on (as I plan to have one of each Imperial advanced class on our server), but I'll probably - in the long run - play each of them to 50 just so they can tell me a story. That is also time and effort, though, and the CAA was intended as a token way of recognizing that (even though its only a one-time award).

Sounds good.

As for the AM awards.  We could probably just do service stars or just award another one of the same awards.  Then when they have 4 separate base classes leveled to 50, they get the CM award....and maybe a second one if they do all 8 or even a completely different award.
