Nearly a decade ago, a Wookie’s fantasy became reality, in a forum never seen before: Kitchen Stadium, a giant cooking arena on the moon Abrae.  The motivation for spending his fortune of Imperial Credits to create Kitchen Stadium was to encounter new, original cuisines, which could be called true artistic creations.

Chairman StOrMz growls: [A la cuisine!]

Announcer Trykon:
To realize his dream, he started choosing the top chefs of various styles of cooking.  And he named his beings the Iron Chefs, the invincible beings of culinary skills!

Iron Chef Mon Calamari/Quarren is Dracule Mihawk,
Iron Chef Mandalorian is wearing a mask,
Iron Chef Twi’lek is Maroy,
Iron Chef Alderaanian is not present in the studio at this time,
And Geordi Atrasin is Iron Duke/Iron Chef Corellian.

Kitchen Stadium is the arena where Iron Chefs await the challenges of Master Chefs from all over the Galaxy.  Both the Iron Chef and Challenger have one standard hour to tackle the theme ingredient of the day.  Using all their senses, skills, creativity, they’re to prepare artistic dishes never tasted before.

And if ever a Challenger wins over the Iron Chef, he or she will gain the Imperials’ ovation, and fame forever!  Every battle, reputations are on the line in Kitchen Stadium, where Master Chefs pit their artistic creations against each other.  What inspiration will today’s Challenger bring, and how will the Iron Chef fight back?  The Heat Will Be On!

[Dramatic music… Chairman StOrMz bites into a fresh bell pepper with an echoing crunch, and grins a broad, Wookie grin]

Dunny, you crazy genius, let the games begin!  It's up to you and StOrMz to write your introduction as the Challenger, and we'll need someone to volunteer to face off against you.  Also, fellow VE-ers: we need celebrity judges and a couple more Iron Chefs!

Cut to vid of a young man wearing the uniform of a starfighter pilot with the Vast Empire Navy. His armoured helmet is held casually under his armpit. His piercing blue eyes stare straight at the camera from under a mess of mousey-brown hair. His complexion is tanned, and his skin nicked with old cuts and scars. Scattered around him are the open components of an Imperial Army 24 hour ration pack. Grinning slyly, he holds out what appears to be a Empire Day pudding for inspection – it looks delicious, the very picture of the succulent Empire Day pudding that people the galaxy over look forward to once a year.

“Most chefs ‘ave all day an’ a superstore ta find the ingredients they need – but for our troops, it ain’t so easy. That’s why I taught meself ta be able to work with any ingredient, so that no matter the situation, a good meal’s never far away. That’s my philosophy: Quality meals, with whatever’s there.”

Cut to a wide-angle video of the pilot sitting atop an Imperial TIE Interceptor, which is resting on its wings on the surface some barren ice world. Fast-forward of him disassembling a ration pack, sorting through each of the ingredients and eventually creating a steaming hot curry. He takes a bite and grins, raising a slim eyebrow slightly as if saying ‘top that!’ The screen fades to black, before showing a revolving picture of him, arms crossed, dressed in his NCO’s fatigues – an E-11 blaster in one hand, and a cooking knife in the other.

“Petty Officer Sam Dunn is an Interceptor Pilot within the Vast Empire Navy, and has already earned a staggering amount of certifications and medals in his short career. Born on the prison colony of Timbra Ott out in the Kathol Outback, he learned from a young age to make more with less, and his self-taught cooking style is as unique as it is acclaimed. A master of making delicious food out of anything, he proved it when he wrote a recipe book that used only the army’s field ration pack for ingredients, the ‘Imperial Soldier’s Survival Guide to Cooking.’, patented by the Vast Empire Military itself.”

The revolving figure now turns back to face the camera, and stops. It is holding a military-esque book, and the camera zooms in on it. It has a black cover, and is obviously meant to be carried in a pocket – it is small, but when Sam opens the book, it is clear that it is packed with information, diagrams and hints, with not a single bit of space put to waste. The current page shows how to properly marinade the nuna chunks found in the Type C ration pack, and helpfully notes that the same trick can be applied to any meat that you manage to hunt.

“A police officer before he joined the Navy, Sam Dunn knows to be ready for anything, and his cooking style reflects his versatility perfectly. This rising star has agreed to put his career on the line for a shot at greatness, and as our first ever challenger has his eyes on defeating one of our Iron Chefs on the field of honour. Does this self-taught survivalist has what it takes to vanquish our invincible warriors of culinary skills? Will he be defeated, or will his name become legend forever?

Ladies and Gentleman, today is the day that we put this hotshot pilot to the ultimate test. Please give a warm welcome to the first ever challenger to Kitchen Stadium as he makes his way in –SAM DUNN!”
