  Romanflame: Skill Mission Gunnery

Arthur set up time for the flight simulator to work on his Gunnery Skills.  He walked over to the Sim controller and asked him if he could active a random CR-90 Corvette Gunnery sim.  The controller nod his head and actives the program.  Arthur walked to the sim that he was pointed to and began to run the program.

The sim opened up and Arthur was briefed on the mission and the sim soon began.  He found himself sitting in the port-side turbolaser.  Looking out the view screen all he could see was the black of space, and then the blue swirl of hyper-space.  What would have been a half hour jump was speed up for the purpose of the sim.

Shortly after the jump the proximity alarm began to ring as the sensors picked up a several X-Wings in the area.  When he saw one past his screen he began to hunt it down.  He found it and started to follow it when he got ahead of it slightly he began to fire but then X-Wing banked right past him and made its way to the other side of the ship.

Romanflame began to search for another ship to destroy.  He found it and began to shoot ahead of it he saw the shields take the hit but were still standing.  I must have been aiming too high, Arthur thought.  He continued to follow but aimed a little lower and saw the shields buckle and a few hit the hull but it was took only minor damage.  He continued to follow it up, down he was about to take the next shot when he felt the ship shake from the X-wings proton torpedoes hitting the shields.

His bolts flew right past the X-Wing as the shake caused him to fire. He adjusted himself and began to hunt his pray down once more.  He followed it but it was moving faster than he was expecting it too.  He took a shot at it in the middle of its banking maneuver which ripped the ship apart.

One down at least two to go.  He searched everywhere for one of the other ships as the sim began to shake as it simulated another hit from another group of proton torpedoes.  Out of the corner of his eye Arthur spotted the X-wing that hit the ship.  He followed that ship as much as he could.  It was using almost every move in the book, but luckily Arthur knew a few of them but was unable to do any serious damage to it.

He knew he disabled the shields for a few seconds, but could not score a direct hit to keep them down.  Arthur shot in a giant circle around the X-Wing hoping to have one of them take it out but was not having any luck.  That was a large waste of time, Arthur thought.

He followed it for what seemed to be forever with no luck getting ahead of it.  Come on there has to be a flaw in this guys ability.  It banked, rolled, stopped suddenly then flew straight up.  At the peak of it flight it corkscrewed and let loose a volley of red bolts, which the shields easily absorbed.  When he finally found a flaw in the pilots maneuver he was able to get his second kill.  Its about time I figured out he was weak in his port side maneuvers.

Arthur was having the hardest time trying to find the third target.  When they received another hit and the ship shook even harder than the last time.  Where are you pilot? There you are.  Arthur thought as he the light from the engine pass the screen.  He followed the ship but couldn’t get ahead of it.  This must be the flight leader he is way better than the rest of the X-Wings I went against.

They played a little game of cat and mouse with the cat only getting a few hits on the smaller craft.  He  was trying his hardest to get off the perfect shot but was unable to all he could do was hit the shields causing them to drop slightly.  How this one craft was able to keep attacking and dodging Arthurs’ barrage was amazing.  Arthur would have hoped to be able to get to that pilot skill level.

Arthur waited patiently for the opportune moment to arrive.  Come on just a little farther.  Then his moment arrived and he released a large barrage of green bolts.  He shot batted at its shields and was able to get them to drop, when the X-Wing changed course and headed the other way.  Bad move pilot, Arthur thought as he pushed the turbolaser right in front of it, and took his shot destroying it.
