Onboard Firefly Serenus - In Hyperspace

"Captain, status report?" Cayden asked, walking into the cockpit.

"Sir, we're 15 minutes out.  Shall I prepare the ship for atmospheric re-entry?" Captain Tsavo asked.

"Yes... Prep us for atmospheric re-entry.  Also, be sure to sound general quarters once Abrae is in sight," he said, setting a steaming cup of coffee next to Tsavo.

"Thank you, sir," she said, taking a sip of the caffeinated beverage.

Cayden smiled and walked out of the cockpit.  He took two steps when an all-too familiar voice spoke to him.  "General, are you sure he is the one to help us out?  I mean, you have many, many fine officers and soldiers back on Bimmiel who can assist.  Why is it imperative we have a Mon Calamari on our team?"

"Cayla... Stewart and I have a history with the New Republic soldiers on the planet.  Yes, I am plenty aware of the fact that they were most likely replaced by now, but... he's the only one I trust enough to assist me on a mission like this.  Besides, he wants to salvage what's left of the Longshot," Cayden said, stepping into the galley.  He opened the 'fridge and took out a bottle of water.  "And... he doesn't think I'm crazy for creating you."

Cayla sighed and jumped off Cayden's shoulder onto the table. "Cayden, I just think that maybe you're trying to throw your life away by putting yourself into ridiculously dangerous situations because of what happened to Ashley," she said, putting a paw on Cayden's hand.

Cayden smiled and said "You know what?  I haven't seen your human form in a long time, not since... well, Operation Bulwark..."

Cayla jumped off the table and stood at the position of attention (as best she could... she is a squirrel, you know...).  She started to change.  First, she started to grow, her fur thinning out as she did.  When she reached 5' 7'', she started to turn from a squirrel into a human.  First, her body fur changed to a Bimmiel military uniform (officer's; rank of Captain).  Her head hair grew longer and darker, falling down the sides of her face to her shoulders.  Then, her bone structure began to change.  Her arms and legs straightened out, her fingers and toes becoming more like a human's.  Her torso and pelvis changed, becoming erectile in shape and function.  Finally, her gave changed from squirrely into a beautiful woman.  She then stood at the proper position of attention, saluted, and said "Captain Cayla Tavers, reporting for duty, sir."

Cayden smiled and said "Indeed you are, Captain... indeed you are..."

Onboard Firefly Serenus - Abrae Orbit

"Sir?  We've reached Abrae... Shall I transmit IDC?" Tsavo asked.

"No... I want you to request diplomatic immunity for the crew onboard this ship, because tonight, we are going deep into New Republic territory," Cayden said, grinning.  "Yes, transmit away, Captain."

Tsavo pressed several keys on his console, then turned to Cayden and said "We've been ordered to land at Docking Bay 41, for a cargo check."

"Cargo check?  This is new..." he said to himself, looking over the cargo manifest.  "Alright... get us there, Captain."

"Yes sir," he said, turning back to the viewport.

Abrae - Docking Bay 41

"Chief Tavers, we've discovered something on your ship I would like you to explain," the customs officer said, his hand resting on the butt of his blaster.

"Son of a- alright, officer.  Show me," he said, getting up off one of his cargo crates.  He followed the officer back into the ship and stopped two steps from the destination when he saw what the officer was talking about.  "Officer... I don't know how to explain this..."

"Oh really?  Did you know transporting... hell, possessing, 275 kilos of cornmeal is extremely suspicious?  Especially during the time it is out of season?" the customs officer asked.

"Officer, understand me when I say this: I have never, ever seen this... crate... ever.  I'm a pilot, hell I'm a squadron commander for crying out loud!  Why would I transport cornmeal?  A better question is: where would I transport cornmeal?" Cayden asked, getting extremely flustered.

"To a backwater world that is starving.  But, seeing it here on Abrae, that would imply that you intend to use it for a more... nefarious... purpose," the customs officer said, fingering his blaster.

Cayden looked back at the cornmeal, and then said "I guess I can sell it to a restaurant here on Abrae.  I have my trader's liscense right here."  Cayden pulled out a liscense and handed it to the customs officer.

The officer took it and looked at it.  "Alright, you can sell here.  Just remember, I'm watching you."

Cayden watched the officer leave the ship, turned to Tsavo, and said "Watch the ship.  I'm going to speak to a certain Mon Calamari about a possible salvaging mission."

"Sir, is it the Longshot?" Tsavo asked, curious.

Cayden smiled and said "Yes Captain, it is the Longshot..."  He did an about-face and walked out of the cargohold of the Serenus.

Abrae - Stewart's Office

Cayden looked at the door and smiled.  I didn't know he was a ship captain now... hmmm... this shall be interesting... he thought as he knocked on the door.

"Enter," he heard from inside the office.

Cayden opened the door and stepped in.  "So... Warrant Officer 2nd Class Stewart-Power has now been promoted to a ship captain?  Well, well, well.. I have been gone long..." he said, taking two steps into the office.

Stewart was facing away from the door and Cayden.  But, when he heard Cayden voice, he slowly turned around and said "Chief... you've been gone for way too long..."

Well, Stewart... you get to inquire about where in the hell Cayden's been.  Make something up (something along the lines about being captured by the Chiss Ascendancy).  Also, at the end of the post, alude to the mission.

===== Officer's Mess, Serenus =====
The crewman that walked into the mess was clearly surprised to see his captain talking to a brown striped Mon Calamari in a Vast Imperial Naval uniform. The Mon Calamari in question noticed this with his right eye that faced towards the door. Meanwhile, his other eye was focusing on the Human captain of the ship sitting across from him. With slight bemusement, the Imperial noticed that the unintentionally gawking crewman ordered the exact same as the meal that Thel and Cayden were idly eating.

After the crewman walked out of his immediate line of site, two eye-stalks focused on the probably exited captain. Cayden continued on about the various, and many, he had made to the Serenus personally, and others that he had not. Thel allowed him to talk, as it the trip gave him the possibility to fulfil a not entirely altruistic mission; the salvage of his former ship, another Firelfy -class ship. It went by the name of Longshot, a surprisingly fitting name considering it's final, what could only be called, engagement. In reality it was a rather one-sided battle between a New Republic Nebula-B frigate, and his unarmed transport ship. He and Cayden always had the best luck with the New Republic...

=====Still, The Ship's Mess =====
Surprisingly, Thel spoke up first. "As you can probably tell, there has been... a few, changes in the Navy recently. I see you already know about my promotion to ship's captain. My ship is the Burnish, a fine ship. The crew isn't the best in the fleet, but they are loyal to the core. They know it too, they're all transfers from the army. Guess command wanted to keep them all together?" Thel paused for a moment, letting the words, and his meal, digest. "Well, that's more then enough about me. How have you been faring? And most of all where have you been?"

Cayden paused, a morsel of his meal half-way into his mouth. He placed it down thoughtfully as he considered what to say next. A decision flashed accross his face. "Actually, I was waiting for you ask that..."

Just a short post to keep things moving. I am half tempted to add a flashback of my own just to beef it up... Anyway, Amacuse; time for you to point out how uncharacteristically chatty I am being... then be characteristically chatty your self

Cayden paused, a morsel of his meal half-way into his mouth. He placed it down thoughtfully as he considered what to say next. A decision flashed accross his face. "Actually, I was waiting for you ask that.  I've been doing my duties on Bimmiel, waging a sort of rebellion against Onderon.  Things have been rather hard for us... and they only got worse, when I got captured by the Chiss, and when Ashley was killed on Csilla by the Onderonians..."

Stewart spit out his drink, shocked, and said "Ashley was killed?  Cayden... I'm sorry..."

"It's alright... I don't think about it much... distracts from the mission: independence," Cayden said, putting his fork down on his tray.  "I've been distracting myself with trying to figure out how I'm going to bring Emperor Moore down..."

Stewart set his nearly-empty glass down and said "Well... we could always do some traveling... like old times."

Cayden smiled.  "Like... to maybe... Rhen Var?" he suggested.

"Rhen Var?  I thought we said we'd never go there again?" Stewart said incredulously?

"Well... recent Onderonian interest in the planet has forced my hand.  Plus, it gives us the golden opportunity to salvage what's left of the Longshot, which if you remember, is lying in some frozen valley under mountains of snow," Cayden said, handing Stewart a datapad.  "I have the location, the equipment, and the insanity to do this... I just need a fellow pilot crazy enough to do it with me."

Stewart looked over the datapad and sighed. "When do we leave?" he asked, smiling.

Cayden smiled and said "Right now, if you like.  Grab your things... we're going to Rhen Var... and remember to pack cold-weather gear this time... and leave that VE uniform behind!  I don't want Onderon thinking that I've allied with the Vast Empire now!"  Cayden ran out of the mess hall, babling on about the mission.

OOC:
Grab your things, Stewart!  We're going to Rhen Var!

Pack some cold-weather gear, your trusty weapon, and get to the Serenus on the double!
