ISD Iron Duke Holding Cell 11ABY

Leading Crewman Fremen ‘Kazack’ Talla was curious to know why he had been summoned to an area so far from the bridge. As he strode down the hallway of one of the darker parts of the ship. He wondered why on earth an intelligence operative from the VENI had summoned him of all people. He pulled out his datapad and read the message again.

“Leading Crewman Talla, today I have a special assignment, outside of your usual duties which I trust will be explained to you when I meet you in the holding cell on this ship. I have uploaded the coordinates to your datapad and when you reach your destination, ask for Warrant Officer Baker”

Kazack swept passed the dark chamber, deep in the bowels of the ship, with barely a glance, he believed it better not to know what went on inside those walls. As he reached one of the large chambers on the far end of the hall he was walking through he thought he heard a scurrying at the far end of the room. “Warrant Officer Baker?” Kazack asked, trying to sound braver then he felt. “Yes” replied a voice from the far end of the room. And now Kazack could barely make out the dark silhouette of a man with his hand outstretched. Kazack shook the offered hand. “With respect sir, why have I been summoned to an area so far from the bridge?” Kazack asked. “Not here Kazack,” Baker replied. “Somewhere more private.” Kazack, for the life of him, could not think of any place on the Iron Duke more private then the room they were in. But, with a barely noticeable shrug of his  shoulders, he followed the Warrant Officer out of the room.

In the office, Kazack took one of the chairs which Baker offered to him. “Drink?” Baker enquired. Kazack politely declined, not wanting to drink the frothy grot which Baker was drinking.

“So Leading Crewman, you must have a lot of questions” Baker began. “First off, you are here because last week, we found a small, suspicious datapad which was password protected, after many attempts by our intelligence people to crack the password, we finally asked that the owner of the datapad come forward and identify themselves. With no such member of crew forthcoming, we began digging into our own ‘sources’ and eventually managed to find and apprehend a member of the crew of the Iron Duke, who we have reason to believe is a New Republic Spy.”

“Today you will be in charge of the interrogation of the prisoner, who is also believed to be the owner of the aforementioned datapad. You will be required to extract from her, both the nature of her mission in the VE and the password to access the datapad. Good Luck Crewman.” And so saying he saluted, stood up, and walked out of the room.

That’s it? Kazack thought as he made his way to the room in which the prisoner was held. As he swiped his key card in the door however he suddenly started, as he recognised the dirty blonde hair of the women before him. It was Mallie Marek. Mallie, as she looked up, was equally surprised.

Kazack sat in the hard chair across from Mallie and opened up the dossier he had been given by Baker and began to read. “Leading Crewman Mallie Marek hereby charged with espionage against the Vast Empire.”

“Mallie would you mind telling me the nature of your mission in the VEN please” Kazack thought, he decided to try and be conciliatory.

“If you’re going to torture me, please get on with it” Mallie said in a bitter tone.

“I’m not here to hurt you Mallie” Kazack said, “Then why are you here,” Mallie challenged him.
“I am here to make sure that any information you have acquired in your time in the VE does not fall into the wrong hands” Kazack replied.
“And why should I give you that information?” Mallie asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Mallie, consider your position for a moment,” Kazack said “You have been apprehended, and your superiors are too far too help you and don’t want too anyway, You are on an enemy vessel, surrounded by enemy soldiers. You have no hope of escape, and if you don’t give me the information I seek now then I am obliged to write the paperwork to transfer you to a VENI facility where your captors will be empowered to use whatever means necessary to extract the information which we desire from you including the ‘enhanced’ interrogation techniques which the old empire is famous for.”
"And what do you think will happen to me AFTER I give you said information" Mallie asked.
"I can't promise anything other then a fair trial" Kazack replied.
"After which Ill be killed" Mallie replied, it was not a question.

Kazack sighed and stood up from his chair. He walked over to the drawers on the far side of the room, and pulled out a thumscrew. Mallie stiffened as she saw what he was holding. Instead of using it however, Kazack held up the small item of torture for Mallie to see.

"You see this?" Kazack asked. Mallie nodded. "This will be stuck into your thumbs to pin you to the table in that facility, they will torture you in unimaginable ways, Do you really want to put yourself through SO MUCH PAIN just to protect a secret from your superiors who dont care about you anyway?" Kazack asked.

"It's worth it to protect the New Republic" Mallie replied.

Kazack reached over to the nearby table, he held up a small syringe for Mallie to see. "This is a dose of truth serum Mallie" Kazack said "and I have a dose of neutralizing agent here too," Kazack said. "I will ask one more time for the information I require, if you do not give I am required to pull the information from you by force."

Mallie didn't even flinch. "Go ahead" she replied.

Sighing, Kazack injected the dose of truth serum into her arm, Mallie's eyes immediatley became cloudy and vague. " What is your mission in the VE" Kazack asked uregently."

"It was--- Noo!! I can't tell you, if I tell you they'll kill me!" Mallie moaned in a pitiful voice. Hating himself for what he was doing to her, Kazack leaned over and gripped her hand. "It's alright Mallie, just tell me what I need to know" Kazack said in a soothing voice. "NO" She screamed and started kicking at the table and thrashing in her seat like a six year old throwing a tantrum.

"Just tell me Mallie, it will all be over, it will feel better" Kazack replied still in his madenningly soothing voice. "What is your mission in the VE" Kazack asked. Mallie's shoulders slumped and she, with an enormous effort, brought herself back under control.

“I was to spy on the movements of the Iron Duke and report back to my superiors in the New Republic.” she said sullenly. Her eyes still unfocused.

“What is the password to your datapad?” Kazack asked. “Alpha-Zeta 1160” Mallie replied, her shoulders slumping even further. Kazack entered the code just to make sure. It was correct. Then he injected the neutralizing agent into her arm. It immedietley returned her eyes to their normal state.
“Thank you Mallie, that wasn’t so hard was it?” Kazack asked.  Mallie, remembering everything, began to cry as Kazack left the room.

Kazack transferred the information to Baker’s datapad and asked that they have mercy on Mallie. And with that he walked back to his quarters.

ok...

the build up was longer than the interrogation.

the interrogation was a question and answer. no suspense.

she would know that if she confessed she'd be executed, so why'd she give in so quickly?
-----

give the actual interr. more depth. we need to see YOU pulling the info from her. that looked like a newspaper interview.
