"Like Riding a Bike, You Never Forget" -Ruwe&Maroy

Ruwe ducked into the simulator room easily as he was used to ducking through every doorway, hatch, or other such frame on a ship or in any building. The VE, or any imperials for that matter, never designed anything for us Wookiees. Ruwe looked about the familiar room. The last time he had been in here, he had been waiting for his old pal from the academy, Drac to appear out of the simulator. It had been a surprise reunion and they ended up flying in the simulator with a newbie to the squadron. It was a rougher simulation from what he remembered, and he had the highest kill count from that simulated flight, but he also had the most damage. A reminder that he wasn’t invincible nor was he the best pilot in the air.

Snapping back to reality he realized he was already at the simulator he had used. Looking around the room, he took in the rows of computers that made the simulator graphics, and all the other functions that made it seem as real as sitting in the actual cockpit of a TIE fighter. At the other end of the room in the control station sat a moderately young crewman at the controls watching a holo on some documentary or other. Might as well brief him quickly. This Maroy says she’s a good pilot and most Twi’leks can back it up. So if she’s as good as she says she is we’re going to take up a lot of the bandwidth on these computers.

Ruwe opened the door and ducked through into the control room. The crewman was caught unawares it seemed, as he quickly killed the holo and snapped to a rigid attention and knocked over his coffee in the process. Not making a move towards the spilled coffee he quickly saluted, “Sir! Senior Crewman Lorvos, simulator technician and engineer at your service sir!”

“[At ease crewman. Make sure you clean up that mess before it gets into the wiring. Having to fix that would cost more than a month’s pay for you.]” Ruwe watched as the crewman hurried about to clean up the mess he had made. After a couple of minutes, it was duly cleaned and the crewman sat down again, this time with a readiness to stand back up again at any second. “[You might as well relax and calm down. I’m not going to rip you limb from limb for spilling coffee. I just thought I should brief you ahead of time, before my opponent for today’s simulator gets here.]” Ruwe carefully studied the crewman. He seemed to physically relax now, but in his eyes there was still that slight tinge of reluctance and alertness.

“Aye-aye sir. What all do you have planned then?” The crewman turned slightly in his chair as if to start plugging in details already on the flight. Ruwe noticed that as he reached for the controls his hands quivered ever so slightly. Must still be new and hasn’t seen a Wookiee before, much less one that has a higher rank over him.

“[Well for starters I should think this will be a very heated match. I am a veteran of space combat and the other is a Twi’lek of some amount of space faring as well. So I should think we’ll need as much juice from the computers as you can manage. There will be lots of G’s as well as a lot maneuvers. It will however only be one on one, so if at all possible are you able to transfer other computer module data or siphon from another so that it’s as real as possible?]”

“Aye sir that I can. I don’t have any other scheduled sims for the rest of my shift so you have all the computers at your disposal per say.” This time Ruwe noticed in such a very subtle tone, that his voice quivered this time. Not much I can do for these newbies. This one smells so fresh from the academy I think I still smell Stormz on him.

“[Ah thank you very much crewman. Well if you want to start plugging in data, I shall give you some details. TIE Interceptors, space flight, over...let’s say...Abrae itself, starting at quadrant four, moving out, down, and across in three quadrants each. That should be sufficient space for a good battle between two fighters. If we should happen to go beyond parameters just go with it and have the computers change accordingly. Set weapons and destructive effects to maximum. Again I want this to feel as real as possible. And I do believe that will be all for this sim.]”

“Aye-aye sir. Everything is plugged in and ready to go. If you want I can start the simulator now and let you have a quick run through it?”

“[Nah, that’s fine crewman. You just focus on having everything set accordingly. I’ll leave you to get things set up.]” As well so you don’t soil yourself anytime soon from being scared of a Wookiee. Frakking newbies, green as wroshyr leaves, and as dumbstruck as the bark. I know for a fact my group was smarter than whatever lot he came through with.

Ruwe sat against the wall opposite to the door leading into the hallway outside. She’ll be here any minute now. I hope she’s ready because I don’t go easy on anyone, simulator or not. What’s the point of practicing if you don’t act like it’s the real thing? Ruwe let the thought settle for the moment as the door opened as his opponent Maroy walked through the door. Tall and slender even for a Twi’lek, she stood approximately a head shorter than Ruwe. The same vibrant green as certain fauna on Kashyyyk she practically seemed to glow in the dimmed lighting of the room. Ruwe stood up and strode over to her.

“[You didn’t have troubles finding the place did yah? Was starting to think you lost your nerve and backed out.]” Ruwe chuckled and broke into a huge grin. This is going to be a good day.

1027 words. This is just some CD. so you can do whatever you want for some CD and then you can plop us on into the sims and then i'll get us started into the dogfight.

and on a last note, kudos goes to Willtconq for the title of this story

Maroy trudged down the corridor, glancing at the door labels. She pulled the map up on her datapad again. Frak, I thought I knew where I was going this time... she turned around and walked back up the hallway, taking a different passageway. She almost began sprinting, then remembered how stupid she'd made herself look by doing that before. Nearly bowled over Zizi, if I remember correctly... She chuckled quietly and put her datapad back in her pocket. Finally finding the simulator room, Maroy walked in and quickly found her new squadron mate. The Wookiee was at least a head taller than her, with deep black fur.
“[You didn’t have troubles finding the place did yah? Was starting to think you lost your nerve and backed out.]”. Maroy stroked her lekku for a moment before replying.
"Actually, I have a track record of getting lost. I lose my sense of direction very quickly, ask just about anyone." She laughed a little. "Incidentally, because of that I'm quite comfortable in space."
"[Interesting. And I am glad to see you're not too intimidated by a Wookiee, most people tend to freak out.]"
"Well, I have to say while I was in the academy I was a huge fan of Pheonix wing and read everything I could on its' pilots. While I preferred Viper, I read plenty on Nazgul too. Not too often you see Wookiees actually flying interceptors, no offense. Plus I'm not too xenophobic, unlike, it seems, most of the imperials. I grew up pretty isolated, so it's quite fun to meet a new species."
"[Good to hear. Well, let's get started.]"
They both walked over to the two active and got in. Maroy thought the Wookiee would have trouble, but it seemed he'd mastered the awkward movement required for him to slip inside. She closed her hatch and powered up the simulator.

OOC:
Not too long, but I ran out of ideas. Hope I didn't make your dialogue too vague.

Ruwe chuckled slightly as he slid into his sim. Seemed she was quite the character. Let’s see how her character takes to a battle though. If I recall correctly, most of the real characters out there can keep it up no matter what situation they’re in. Only thing is, sometimes that can be worse in a dog fight. Ruwe started punching away on controls, powering up his simulator. As it powered up he adjusted his seat. It seemed the last one to use this sim was probably only five and a half feet tall, and was no more bigger around than one of his arms. With much grunting and struggling he adjusted the belts so that he could strap himself in. Sighing at the accomplishment, he settled into his seat and let his hands roam over the yoke, the throttle, and various instruments. Closing his eyes he familiarized quickly where everything was.

Alright time to get to this. Clicking his comm on he checked Maroy’s status light. Seeing green he spoke into his comm, “[All systems are go. Let’s get this show on the road.]” Ruwe watched as the screen view ports changed, and became space itself. Pushing his throttle to full forward he tapped another button as well and activated his sensors. Active pinging pointed to Maroy being at two o’clock bearing and a twenty degree down bubble. Pitching the yoke forward slightly and to the right, he lined up his heading for Maroy head on. Forward sensors showed that she had also corrected her course for a full head to head view. Here goes nothing. Show me what ya got.

Ruwe waited until they came close enough for laser range. Throwing all of his shielding to the front and port side, and rolled his fighter over and fired a quick burst of lasers, as lasers responded in kind and grazed off his shielding. Yanking back on the yoke for far more than a half arc, he rolled out and to the left bringing Maroy back in his sights for a brief moment as she sped across his viewport down and to starboard. Trying to get in behind me for some leverage I see. Flipping his shields again he put them to port side and aft. Flipping over again he bled off his speed and pulled on the yoke so that he headed in a ‘down’ direction to Maroy’s view when she came out of her maneuver. I know all the easy maneuvers. Show me something worth trying hard for.

OOC:
kinda short and lacking with a measly 426 words, but finally hectic stuff with x-gf and family is over so heres the post
