[[Yes, its fascinating creature. No different than any other predator. Their tactics never change, so its easier for a bigger animal, or possibly smarter prey, to outwit them. You're the Drexl in this scenario, I can assume?]]

No different than other predators? Never changing tactics? The Onderonian's opponent appeared to be more ignorant than first assumed. Maybe he gave her too much credit earlier. Maybe her flying was a fluke or at least the only thing she actually got right... Meh, didn't really matter in the end. The thing that did matter, the only thing that mattered anymore was that she be taken out. The sooner the better naturally.

"In a way i suppose so though the only reason i mentioned that story was because your careless flying reminded me of it."

Seth grinned as he finished speaking. He wasn't the type to enjoy taunting others merely out of fun but then again this wasn't just for fun now was it? From what he had observed thus far his opponent seemed like the type that would allow her emotions to get the better of her or at the very least allow them to interfere with her judgment calls. That was always a weakness since it was bound to either lead to hesitation or downright mistakes, potentially serious ones too. That was precisely what Seth was now trying to exploit. Seeing how no further replies came after that the Onderonian pilot only assumed that it was indeed working as intended.

Just to make sure however the pilot opened fire a couple more times, managing to also land a few good hits in the process. As far as he was concerned the fight was pretty much concluded, the outcome already obvious. Why would he have thought differently after all? Between his distracting and possibly damaging taunting and his ability to stick right on his opponent's tail thus not allowing her a chance of respite his chances were quite good. Quite good indeed...

Blinded by success the Onderonian pilot failed to notice how he was flying straight into a trap. A trap that he would've easily seen through and possibly even worked against his target had he remembered those blasted charts containing the locations of the turrets scattered throughout the asteroid belt. Ahh, too late had Seth noticed the shining laser bolts flying past his opponent and with the help of great reflexes past himself as well. Too late did he realize that once his prey pulled away he was left open, with that automated turret already shooting his way. He managed to avoid one shot, then another, and another but failed to keep it up as the fourth grazed his fighter. The Onderonian clenched his teeth as he tried following after his opponent partly because it was his chance of retaking his temporarily lost advantage over her and partly because it was really the only choice he had in order to escape that damn turret fire.

Couple more seconds and he may have even managed to pull it off as well had one last shot from that automated defense system not ripped through his remaining shields. Now that was a real bummer. Here he was again comfortably on his target's tail ready to continue from where he left off only to realize that would've been rather stupid. Sure he had a chance to still take her out and possibly prove himself the better pilot. Question was whether that would've ended up counting as an actual victory or not. From what he could recall they were to disengage should either their own shields or the shields of their opponents drop. As far as he was concerned he might've even lost the chance to win already seeing how he already lost his. Besides, flying through an asteroid field at high speeds with no shields was rather suicidal anyway. Sure the bigger rocks could still be avoided but the smaller ones would likely prove deadly however. Instead of harmlessly being bumped away by shields they would end up bumping straight into the craft's hull, doing who knows what kind of damage...

"This cat and mouse chase has been found but alas i find myself too tired and too bored to keep it up any longer..."

Switching channels the pilot then announced:

"Control this is Rhegent's Gamma Three returning home. Repeat, Rhegent's Gamma Three is coming home."

[[Roger Gamma Three stand by for docking instructions.]]

And so it was that Seth's duel came to a close. The end.
