How to get this effect:

Imperial Network Star Wars Image

Instructions:

Image 1.
File
New
Advanced Options- Fill with- Transparency
Click Ok

Image 2.
Select Paintbrush tool
Draw shape

(Text can be used as well. Basic shape serves for simplicity of explaining this method.)

Image 3.
Create new layer(transparent)
Place new layer beneath your first layer on which you drew the
shape.

Image 4.
Select Fill Bucket tool
Select any color
Fill the new layer you had created in the previous step with this color.

Image 5.
Right click on the layer you had filled with color and select 'Add alpha to channel'

Image 6.
Move mouse to image.
Make sure you are in the color-filled layer and not the shape layer.
Right click
Layer->Transparency-Color to alpha

Image 7.
A new window will pop up.
It will show a white color which you can change.
Please use the color you had used to fill the layer in with.
In my case red.
Make sure its EXACTLY the right color. You can easily copy and paste color codes, etc. Anycase. Click okay.

Image 8.
File
Save As
Select File Type\
GIF
Click Save

Image 9.

Click Export.

Tada. It should work now when you upload the image.
