Racer Profile

Racer's cannot compete in the VESR without a profile.  The profiles have been shortened in some areas and extended in others, resulting in a short, concise statement that includes only the most nescessary information.  An example, the template of a racer profile, can be seen here:
Quote:Racer Profile
Quote:1. Name
2. Vehicle (swoop bike)
3. Vehicle Modifications
  (a) Engine (type/lvl) (determines speed)
  (b) Powercell (type/lvl) (determines power)
  (c) Control Shaft (type/lvl) (determines handling)
4. Pit Staff
  (a) Pit Droid (saves from crash)
  (b) Power Droid (adds 1 modifier to stats)
5. Racer Stats
  (a) Pass (Power + Speed)
  (b) Dodge (Speed + Handling)
  (c) Attack (Power + Handling)
6. Racing Record (W/L)
7. Total Racing Bonds (#)
8. Racing Titles (list..)

I will now break down the Racer Profile to show you how each of these seven points contribute towards identifying and organizing your racing experience.  Each part is equally important in helping you and others keep track of your progression in the VESR.
Quote:1. Name
Simply write your vast empire call sign here.
Quote:2. Vehicle (swoop or speeder)
This must be an actual purchased swoop or speeder.  Players can purchase swoops or speeders from the Imperial Center Store.. or from a dealer such as Doug's Bike Shop
Quote:3. Vehicle Modifications
Players may change the design and layout of their swoop by purchasing replacement parts with Racing Bonds (more on racing bonds later).

Quote:(a) Engine (type/lvl) (determines speed)
The Engine (repulsorlift) is the part of the swoop that determines its SPEED (SPD).  SPEED is how fast your swoop can go, and is one of the contributing stats that every racer needs for PASS and DODGE.

Upon purchase of a swoop or speeder, racers automatically begin with an "Imperial Stock Engine" (lvl 1)

Quote:(b) Powercell (type/lvl) (determines power)
The Engine (repulsorlift) is the part of the swoop that determines its POWER (PWR).  POWER is how dominant your swoop is on the race course, and is one of the contributing stats that every racer needs for PASS and ATTACK.

Upon purchase of a swoop or speeder, racers automatically begin with an "Imperial Stock Powercell" (lvl 1)

Quote:(c) Control Shaft (type/lvl) (determines handling)
The Engine (repulsorlift) is the part of the swoop that determines its HANDLING (HND).  HANDLING is how manueverable and agile your swoop is, and is one of the contributing stats that every racer needs for DODGE and ATTACK.

Upon purchase of a swoop or speeder, racers automatically begin with an "Imperial Stock Control Shaft" (lvl 1)
Quote:4. Pit Staff
Players may need to hire a few droids to make repairs and last minute saves to increase their chances of preforming well in the race.  The two (legal) droids up for purchase are Pit Droids and Power Droids.

Quote:(a) Pit Droid (saves from crash)
Pit Droids are used when a racer crashes into an obstacle (more on obstacles later).  When a player crashes into an obstacle they must use up one pit droid to repair their vehicle.  That pit droid is discarded and cannot be used again.  Once a player has used a pit droid to repair their swoop, they assume the last position in the race and may continue.

Racers do not automatically start out with Pit Droids.  They must be purchased from the Imperial Center Store.
Racers may own as many Pit Droids as they want, but may only use two per race, unless they have purchased an illegal modifier that allows them to hold more. (More on Illegal equipment later)

Quote:(b) Power Droid (adds 1 modifier to stats)
Power Droids are used to improve any statistic of SPEED, POWER, or ATTACK; to get an edge over racers.  One power droid can only add a modifier to one stat.  Power Droids modifiers may be applied differently per track, according to the racer's discretion; but once the racer is registered in a race, modifications cannot take place.

Racers do not automatically start out with Power Droids.  They must be purchased from the Imperial Center Store.
Racers may own as many Power Droids as they want, but may only use two per race, unless they have purchased an illegal modifier that allows them to hold more. (More on Illegal equipment later)
Quote:5. Racer Stats
At the heart of VESR is the statistics of the Swoop Racers.  These are what determines the outcome of every racer on the track.  Racer Statistics are comprised of three seperate, constantly modified, parts: PASS, DODGE, and ATTACK.

Quote:(a) PASS (POWER + SPEED)
PASS is what allows a racer to move up ahead of his/her competitors in a race.  PASS is determined by using a racer's POWER and SPEED, which comes from the kind of engine and power cell that the racer is using.

Racers use PASS by comparing their PASS statistic against their opponent's.  A Racer with Lvl 1 POWER and Lvl 1 SPEED will have a PASS lvl of 2.  In order to pass the player in front of them, their total PASS lvl must be higher than their opponents.  In the case of a tie, no PASS will occur.  Racers can only PASS when there is no obstacle to DODGE.  Racers can only PASS one opponent per turn.

[Example] Ron has a PASS lvl of 3 (2PWR+1SPD).  Rizzit has a PASS lvl of 2 (1PWR+1SPD).  Ron can pass in front of Rizzit.  Cosmic has a PASS lvl of 3 (1PWR+2SPD).  Ron cannot pass in front of Cosmic.  Kadann has a PASS lvl of 4 (2PWR+2SPD).  Ron cannot pass in front of Kadann.

Quote:(b) DODGE (SPEED + HANDLING)
DODGE is what allows a racer to avoid crashing into obstacles and other racers.  DODGE is determined by using a racer's SPEED and HANDLING, which comes from the kind of engine and control shaft that the racer is using.

Racers use DODGE by comparing their DODGE statistic against their opponent's ATTACK, or against an obstacle's difficulty rating.  A Racer with Lvl 1 SPEED and Lvl 1 HANDLING will have a DODGE lvl of 2.  In order to dodge an obstacle, their total DODGE must be equal to or higher than the obstacle's difficulty rating.  In order to dodge a player's attack, their total DODGE must be equal to or higher than their opponent's ATTACK.

[Example 1] Ron has a DODGE lvl of 3 (2SPD+1HND).  "The Canyon" obstacle on the Old Mos Eisly Swoop Track on Tatooine has a difficulty rating of 2.  Ron easily steers past the obstacle."The Corkscrew" obstacle on the Old Mos Eisly Swoop Track on Tatooine has a difficulty rating of 3.  Ron barely misses crashing into the obstacle.  "The Devil's Drop" obstacle on the Old Mos Eisly Swoop Track on Tatooine has a difficulty rating of 4. Ron crashes into the obstacle.

[Example 2] Ron has a DODGE of lvl of 3 (2SPD+1HND).  Arnaut has an ATTACK lvl of 2.  Ron easily evades getting attacked by Arnaut.  Yillis has an ATTACK level of 3 (1PWR+2HND).  Ron barely manages to hold off Yillis' attack.  Angel has an ATTACK level of 4 (2PWR+2HND).  Ron is unable to dodge Angel's attack.

Quote:(c) ATTACK (POWER + HANDLING)
ATTACK enables a racer to aggressivly fight other racers on the swoop track.  A sucessful ATTACK can give pleasing results, as the winner can pass their opponent with the chance of losing valuable assets.  Racers who sucessfully ATTACK another player temporarily gain a statistic bonus of +1, which can be employed to either SPD, PWR, or HND.  This bonus only lasts for the duration of the race.

Racers use ATTACK by comparing their ATTACK statistic against their opponent's DODGE.  A Racer with Lvl 1 POWER and Lvl 1 HANDLING will have an ATTACK lvl of 2.  In order to attack an opponent, their total ATTACK must be higher than their opponent's DODGE.

[Example] Ron has an ATTACK of lvl of 3 (2PWR+1HND).  Arnaut has a DODGE lvl of 2 (1SPD+1HND.  Ron easily attacks Arnaut, passes him, and gains a +1 [i]bonus modifier
.  Yillis has an ATTACK level of 3 (1PWR+2HND).  Ron sucessfully attacks Yillis.  Angel has an ATTACK level of 4 (2PWR+2HND).  Ron is unable to dodge Angel's attack.
Quote:6. Racing Record (W/L)
Write your total wins and losses here.
Quote:7. Total Racing Bonds (#)
Write the total amount of Racing Bonds won.  (More on Racing Bonds later)
Quote:8. Racing Titles (list..)
Write your Racing Titles (names of tracks you have come first in) here.

Now that is just what is behind the Racer Profile.  It should all just fit nicely into eight lines, eight lines that will contain all the information you need to race.  My Racer Profile will look something like this:
Quote:Ron's Racing Profile

1. Racer: Ron
2. Vehicle: 74-Z Military Speeder Bike
3. Vehicle Modifications
  (a) Engine- Imperial Stock Engine (lvl 1)
  (b) Powercell- Imperial Stock Powercell (lvl 2) +1 Mod (Power Droid)
  (c) Control Shaft- Imperial Stock Control Shaft (lvl 2) +1 Mod (Power Droid)

  (a) Pit Droid (2)
  (b) Power Droid (2)
5. Racer Stats
  (a) Pass (3)
  (b) Dodge (3)
  (c) Attack (4)
6. Racing Record (0/0)
7. Total Racing Bonds (0)
8. Racing Titles (None)

Racing Guide

Once a racer has created his/her profile (and trust me, it won't take nearly as long as you think), they must know a few basic rules and the order of play, not to mention signing up to be a VE Swoop Racer, before they may actually start racing.
Quote:Racing Guide- Order of Play
Quote:1. Modifying and Registering
2. The Qualifier (Determines the order in which racers will go in)
3. The Lead Post (describes the course, provides resources for the racers to use)
4. Posting (guide to writing a post in the race)
  (a) Post Layout
  (b) Obstacles
5. Winning/Losing the Race
  (a) Racing Bonds

Now I will break down the guide so that you can how each part works in the order of play.
Quote:1. Modifying and Registering
By far, the easiest part in the order of play, racers have the opportunity to tune their swoops before the race.  This is done by advanced swoop parts and exchanging them in for the standard Imperial Stock parts.

Once a racer has modified his/her swoop bike to their own satisfaction, they must qualify to enter the next race.  RACES ARE HELD MONTHLY.  Racers must understand that once they have registered into a race that they can not modify their swoops until the race is over, or unless they drop out of the race.  Racers register for a race by sending a PM to the Race Coordinator (TBA).
Quote:2. The Qualifier (Determines the order in which racers will go in)
Before the race (done over PM or IRC) racers must determine the order in which they will go.  There may only be as many as 5-7 players per race, so after the players are determined, a mod randomly chooses a number between 1 and however many racers are playing. The players respond as quickly as possible with their choices. Each player may only choose one number, the closer you are to the chosen number the better of a starting position you have.

[Example] Say the number is 3 (out of 5). The person who chooses 3 will lead at the beginning of the race. Then the person who chooses 2, because it is the next closest other than 4, but it is not an overbid. Next will be 4 because it is the next closest, and next will be 1 because it is not the overbid, and last will be 5.

Racers will start the race in this order; and will post in this order until the last person has posted.  Then the order will be reconfigured, and the racers will post in the new order, starting with the racer in first, and ending with the racer who is in last place.
Quote:3. The Lead Post (describes the course, provides resources for the racers to use)
To mark when a race will begin, the Race Coordinator will make a fancy post describing the course, listing the obstacles, listing the racers involved, and providing any additional information that the racers may need.  After this post has been made, the predetermined player in first (after the qualifier) may begin.
Quote:4. Posting (guide to writing a post in the race)
This is where you actually write about the race.  There are a few things that you must have in your post in order for it to be valid, allowing for play to continue.

Quote:(a) Post Layout
Quote:(Example Post)

Lap: 1
Position: 2nd

Ron took off right behind Kanderin as the race began.  With no obstacles in sight, he speeds up and rams his speeder bike into Kanderin's side.  Kanderin pulls away and attempts to move, but is unsuccessful.  Ron's ATTACK is good.

New Position: 1st

PASS (PAS): 3 +1 (Successful Attack)
DODGE (DDG): 4
ATTACK (ATK): 4

In that simple, yet effective form, racers post.  At the top should be the lap number and their position, followed by an action, followed by their new position, and finished by posting their PASS, DODGE, and ATTACK stats at the bottom, with any gained mods (indicated by the +1)
Quote:(b) Obstacles
Obstacles are stationed periodically throughout the race.  On some laps you have them, others you don't.  Each Obstacle has a danger rating.  In order to pass an obstacle, your DODGE stat must be equal to or higher than the Obstacle's danger rating.  For more information on using dodge to get past obstacles, see DODGE under Part I.

Obstacles vary from race to race, all of them with varying difficulties.  Obstacles are rated on a difficulty scale of 1-5 (6-9 are labled as illegal obstacles and are only found on illegal tracks).
Quote:5. Winning/Losing the Race
In every race there is a winner and a loser.  In VESR, there are prizes that are awarded to all racers, big and small.  Prizes vary, on legal courses prizes include Racing Bonds, Pit Droids, Advanced Swoop Parts, and Power Droids.  On Illegal courses, prizes are much larger, as the course is so much harder

  (a) Racing Bonds
Racing Bonds are certificates of award given to racers in exchange of money.  RBs are exchangeable for Imperial Credits.  The exchange rate for RBs are as follows:
Quote:1RB = 25,000 IC

5RB = 100,000 IC
10RB = 250,000 IC
20RB = 500,000 IC
40RB = 1,000,000 IC
80RB = 2,000,000 IC
200RB = 5,000,000 IC
400RB = 10,000,000 IC

.:Part III:.
List of Planets and Races

Quote:1. Legal Swoop Tracks
Legal Swoop Tracks comprise the majority of swoop racing events throughout the galaxy.  As the Illegal tracks are more difficult to navigate (and have a higher death rate), legal tracks see more beginners and amateurs than professionals.  As the legal tracks are monitored by the VESR Organization, no illegal materials are allowed to be used in a legal swoop race event.
Quote:Agrilat Swamp Circuit (Corellia)
The Agrilat Swamp Circuit is the most popular, if not the most dangerous, swoop racing track in the Agrilat region of Corellia. The course weaves through jagged, crystalline plants, hot springs, and other swamp-dangers.

Difficulty: Hard
Course Laps: 7
Prize: 20 RB
Quote:Ahto City Swoop Track (Manaan)
The Ahto City Swoop Track is a swoop racing venue in the center of Ahto City on the planet Manaan. The design is such that vehicles hover over the surface of the water that surrounds the walls of the city, and at some points racing through large sewer ducts that run beneath the city.

Difficulty: Easy
Course Laps: 7
Prize: 12 RB
Quote:Nashal River Race (Talus)
The Nashal River Race is a swoop racing competition that is held annually on the world of Talus, in the Corellia system. The race curves along the dry Krisa riverbed, which is located just outside the city of Nashal.

Difficulty: Easy
Course Laps: 5
Prize: 8 RB
Quote:Old Mos Espa Arena Circuit (Tatooine)
The Old Mos Espa Arena Circuit is a racing track located on the desert planet Tatooine. The Mos Espa course starts out of the arena and hosts a curving canyon, a rocky expanse dominated by immense bulbous rock formations, Metta Drop (a sudden escarpment), and the infamous narrow opening called the Notch. Racers must also dodge shots from the Sand People, and must navigate through obstacles; among them the Coil, Jett's Chute, and the Corkscrew. Exiting the Corkscrew via the Devil's Doorknob, the pilots emerge onto the Hutt Flats, a broad featureless expanse that led back to the arena. This entire circuit represents one lap, and the race requires seven more laps for completion.

Difficulty: Very Hard
Course Laps: 9
Prize: 40 RB
Quote:2. Illegal Swoop Tracks
Illegal Swoop Tracks are very dangerous courses set up by smugglers and pirates that test the skill and ability of only the best swoop racers.  Illegal Swoop races are notorious for bringing in a king's ransom of prize money.  Illegal races also allow racers to use illegal parts and equipment, as they will most likely be unable to finish in one piece without it.
Quote:Lok Marathon (Lok)
The Lok Marathon is one of the longest and most arduous races in the galaxy. Racers have to draw upon much experience as well as time and stamina. Most of the customers of the Lok Marathon are pirates, smugglers, and racing legends. Most racers do not complete the marathon. The Lok Marathon sports dangerous beasts, pirates, confusing mazes and a very large and active volcano.

Difficulty: Near Impossible
Course Laps: 12
Prize: 60 RB
Quote:Lok Diamond
Because the course is so difficult to master, the scoundrels who run the course offer a valuable reward to anyone who can complete it, and take first.  The prize is a priceless red diamond from the old volcanic shafts of Lok, which is set in a beautiful dragon trophey figure.  The Lok Diamond is considered to be highest award achieveable for a single race in Swoop Racing, by the most experienced racers.  It is of course, not recognized by the VESR, and cannot be traded in for Imperial currency.
Quote:Nar Shaddaa Swoop Track (Nar Shaddaa)
The Nar Shadda Swoop Track is a course developed from Nar Shaddaa's old sewer system beneath the city; its circuit runs under the Refugee Sector, around the methane bar and through the docks. Many swoop racers from other planets consider this track to be one of the most difficult due to the various obstacles and dangers facing a swoop racer. The track has numerous obstacles, such as fan blasters from the still-active sewer vents. These blasts of air are strong enough to throw a swoop bike in the opposite direction from which the fans are blowing. However, the greatest danger is the fact that the track holds mutiple races simultaneously.

Difficulty: Hard
Course Laps: 7
Prize: 20 RB
Quote:Onderon Swoop Race Track (Onderon)
The Onderon Swoop Race Track primarily runs under and outside of the Iziz defense walls, through caves and ruins. The circuit is considered challenging by some of the local swoop racers due to the course's unusual feature of changing elevation; most swoop tracks throughout the galaxy are designed to be level. Additonally, there is the hazard of wreckage left over from the circuit's competitive and dangerous past.

Difficulty: Medium
Course Laps: 7
Prize: 16 RB
Quote:3. The Runner's Gambit
The Runner's Gambit is the name of series of three races held by the VESR.  The winner of all three races is awarded the Gambit Cup and recieves a bonus of 50 RBs (1,250,000 ICs).  The Runner's Gambit is made up of the three most popular legal swoop tracks; Agrilat Swamp Circuit, Ahto City Swoop Track, and Old Mos Espa Arena Circuit.
Quote:3. The Widow's Cup
So called because of the husbands killed in attempting to achieve this award, "The Widow's Cup" is the name of an event of two of the most deadly races in the galaxy; Lok Marathon and Nar Shaddaa Swoop Track.  The winner of both races will recieve the actual "Widow's Cup" and a bonus of 80 RBs (2,000,000 ICs).

.:Part IV:.
Purchasing Equipment

There are three different places where you can purchase equipment.  The first is through the Imperial Center Store., where you can buy Swoops/Speeders and your pit and power droids.  So far the Imperial store does not have advanced swoop parts in stock (yet).  Future arrangements may allow for advanced parts to be purchased in the Imperial Center Store.

Advanced Parts currently can be won in races, or must be bought through an external dealer who is recognized by the VESR.  A dealer who is not recongized by the VESR may sell parts as well, but racers may not use those parts in legal races.  A list of (legal) purchaseable advanced swoop parts and their prices can be found below.  NOTE: Imperial Center store bikes CAN NOT be used with advanced parts.  Advanced bikes can be bought through the VE private swoop dealer.  Advanced bikes can always use lower parts levels, but can not use parts that have a higher level than themselves.

~Corellian Powercell (10 RB)
~Corellian Control Shaft (10 RB)
Racers should know that I as a dealer will not be making money off selling advanced equipment.  Any purchases made will be used solely for funding swoop race prize money.

The final place that Racers can buy Advanced Parts is through an illegal dealer.  It is almost impossible to find an illegal dealer- unless they come to you!  If you prove successful in racing then you may get a PM from an Illegal dealer, asking YOU to purchase some of their equipment.  Be quiet about it though, and you didn't hear such things from me.  Purchasing Illegal Equipment Under Construction.
