the ale swooshed around in LW's cold glass. it was late and he had just returned from a breif trip. He had missed out on  the last mission but was waiting to make up for it in the next one. merely he took a shot of the glass and crinkled his face from the burning sensation. he got up and left of rhis room.

As the deadline drew near, sk8 meditated on the next mission. He hoped the mission would be good. He decided, upon his completion of meditation, to get some sleep. After several hours of sleep, an alarm sounded, announcing that Aegis needed to report to their ships. Sk8 jumped out of his bed and headed towards his refresher. He pulled on his flightsuit and raced off toward teh hangar bay.

JMac got out of his bunk when the alarm went out.  He had had a good nigt, even though it turned out that Liquid wasn't quite drunk enough to bet him.  He had still gotten enough sleep, cause he knew that the mission was not going to be easy.  As he strode down the hall, he saw Liquid's door open and Liquid walked out. A shower and a night's sleep had done wonders for his appearance.  Despite the bruises that he had recieved at the hands of Merrick, he looked alert and ready to roll.  "Morning Liquid," JMac said with a grin.  "You ready to rid the galaxy of a few more rebel scum?" "I am good to go!," Liquid said as they walked into the hanger bay and started doing some preflight checks on their ships.

As Liquid and JMac were doing their Preflight checks on their ships, a voice came over the loud speaker: "Good Evening Aegis Squadron, I hope you're ready for your mission today, because it's not gonna be easy, you'll have a lot of bogies coming at you, and it'll be hard to defeat them all, but i'm sure that you all won't have a problem with it, you've all done excelent thus far, and if you keep doing this great, some of you might have my job pretty soon (chuckle)" Turns out that voice was none other than Riel Fury himself. As Liquid, Jmac, and the rest of Aegis Squadron jumped into their ships, Sk8 came over the comlink. "This is a very serious mission," Sk8 said with an official tone in his voice, "I want NO casualties on our side, I know that that's a hard thing to do, and I expect you all to be able to do it," that being said, the tone in his voice started to sound more regular, and he made one more comment, "And don't forget to have fun blowing away some rebel scum!" Liquid checked his shields, turned on his in-deck CD-Player, and started blaring his newly recorded cd by RipKord (His friend's band (shameless plug)) and powered up, getting mentally prepared for the mission at hand.

Sk8 made evasive manuevers and noticed the torpedoes hit the Bon Chance. Escape pods flittered out of it as the ship was obviously dieing. "Nice work Aegis, the Bon Chance is through. Let's clear this mine field for the big guns." he said over the comm. "Break into two man teams, one concentrate on the mines and the other watch his back," came Lonewolf's added orders. "Lonewolf, you're with me. Let's clear those mines." sk8 shouted over the comm. He noticed on his sensors as Aegis split into two man teams. He also noticed that the rebels had launched their fighters. Sk8 switched channels over to his private channel with Lonewolf. "Listen buddy, he both need to clear these mines. Don't worry about the fighters, just concentrate on the mines so the caps can get through. We're dead if we don't get their help." "I agree, "came Lonewolf's response. He aligned his TIE Advanced towards some mines and opened up, clearing away mines with each accurate shot. He cleared through one little group in no time at all. Sk8 blasted away his group, when he noticed that a rebel E-wing was approaching on Lonewolf's tail. "Lonewolf, go evasive! You've got a tail!" he shouted as he disengaged from the mines and moved to help his comrade out. Lonewolf hurled his fighter into a steep climbe then pushed his rudder pedal to the left and his stick to the right, side-stepping his fighter. The E-wing flew by him and Lonewolf painted it red in his crosshairs with ease. Two quad bursts later, the E-wing was a cloud of vapor in space. "Nice flying LW." sk8 congratulated. "Return to the mines." Sk8 noticed almost half the mines were cleared, but the fighter were rapidly reaching Aegis's position. They didn't have much time. "Fighters all around. He need some help!" came Jmac's distressed voice through the comm. "Aegis, finish off the mine group you're on and engage the fighters. We've done all we can. Fallen, see if you can give JMac a hand over there." sk8 ordered, like a general, to his pilots. The Vast Empire fleet reached the edge of the mine field and laser fire from the bigger ships filled space. A couple of the operable rebel ships moved in to engage, but it was apparent they were heavily damaged.The rebel fleet would be no match for the fully operable VE ships. Sk8 pulled his flight stick hard right to swing onto the tails of a couple of old Y-wings making a run one of the VE assualt transporting headed for the damaged rebel ships. He deftly painted one red and slowed his ship to match pace. There was nothing the sluggish Y-wing could do to break free of his lock. He fired three quick quad bursts and the Y-wing was done for. Before it's wingman could realize what happend, he quickly targeted him and blasted it him it space debris. He put his throttle to full and searched for more threats to the assualt transports. He noticed a shuttle flying away from a damaged frigate. It had tugs and repair ships all around it, but they were suddenly retreating away as well. Something didn't feel right in this situtation so he headed for the shuttle. It noticed his approach and opened fire with it's laser cannons. They were easy to dodge in his highly manuverable ship. He flew close enought to get a senor reading and noticed the specs coming in on his computer. Apparently the sguttle was full of a demolitions team. Sk8 plotted its trajectory and the computer estimated its next destination to be the carrack cruiser Lucid. Ske thought on these events for a moment then realized an important fact he had never expected. He opened a channel to all the VE and shouted, "Get away from the frigate Justice. The rebels have rigged it to explode." Having said that, sk8 moved to stop the shuttle from docking with the other ships. That's the last thing they needed was the rebel capital ships exploding around them. He swung around on to a direct line with the escort shuttle and opened fire. The shuttle returned fire, but to no avail. It tried to go evasive, but sk8 countered it and continued pounding away at its shields. Finally, he heard a hail over his comm, "This is the escort shuttle Renewal. We surrender, please cease fire. We're powering down and awaitng boarding." "You hear that Atrus?" sk8 asked to the fleet command ship. "We got it sk8. Good job." came a confident vioce from Riel Fury.

Narrowly missing a collision with his fellow squadron member, Liquid had to pull a quick one to avoid the red rebel lasers that were following him quickly, Liquid pulled a tight loop to get behind the rebel awing, which was no match for his fully functional Tie Advanced. quickly sensing something behind him, he pushed hard right and did a full stop, forcing the rebel ship to go underneath him. He quickly Throttled up and engaged the target.

The explosion rocked sk8's TIE. He was really close to a corvette that time. Tactics had to be changed if the Vast Empire was to be succesful and salvage as many ships as possible.He locked onto a shuttle, supposed carrying another demolitions crew and opened fire. Return blasted the area around him, but sk8 easily manuevered his ship to avoid any hits. He fired a couple quad bursts and the shuttle exploded in a brilliant light show. Suddenly sk8 noticed a message coming in from the Atrus. He thumbed his communications and answered the message promptly. "This is sk8, what's going on Atrus?" "Sk8, time to change tactics. I'm ordering Viper to engage the fighters, with half of Kaph's help. The other part of Kaph will hunt those blasted demilitions shuttles. Aegis is gonna down to the planet. I want you to hit all their military targets you can." his good friend Riel Fury relayed to him onboard the Atrus. "How are we supposed to distinguish these military targets?" sk8 queried his Commander in Chief. "I'm sending you some photos of the target locations. Relay them to your squadron and take them out." the NCC relayed back to sk8. "Right, good luck up here. We'll do our best. Sk8 over and out." he thumbed his comm off and switched to his onboard computer. He studied the buildings and their descriptions. He mentally divided them up and assigned them to certain flights. Reaching the end of the list, he moved the pictures in three seperate categories on his screen and switched to the Aegis squadron channel. "Listen up guys. We're going planetside and doing a little target pratice. I have photographs of our intended targets and I'm dividing you up into flights. Two flight, you guys take these photos I'm sending you, I think they're the hangar bays and barracks for the planetside forces." sk8 insructed two flight. "Gotcha sk8, we'll do our best. Follow me PJ, I'll give you the ride of your life." Twinfury acknowledged as he pulled out of battle and toward the planet. "Fallen, you and JMac take the targets I'm sending you now. Good luck trying to figure out what they are, but Riel said to take them out so go for it." sk8 said to his three flight leader. "Gotcha sk8, on our way down." Fallen responded. "Liquid, you join three flight, Lonewolf and I can handle our targets. Besides, I gave Fallen the fun stuff, his targets can return fire." sk8 advised to his young flight member as he relayed the targets to him. "Ok sk8. I'll pass the word on. Good luck sir." Liquid answered as he gave pursuit to Fallen's flight. "Lonewolf, we got the important targets, army and Navy headquarters. I'm sending you the photos now. Follow my lead, we'll go on two runs each per target then head back toward sapce." sk8 announced to his XO. "Alright, you first sir." Lonewolf replied, rather jokingly as he settled in behind sk8. Lonewolf set his cannon fire to single fire to fire more deadly bursts into the stationary targets. The two fighters raced across water and then reached land and hurtled across grass plains. In the viewport ahead of him, sk8 quickly began to see a city form in front of him, obivously the planet's capitol. He throttled down to two thirds speed, Lonewolf following suit behind. Laser erupted from stationary gun emplacements surrounding the cit, but could do very little damage. They were for ground assault defense, not aerial assaults. Sk8 surveyed the cityscape, looking for their target. He felt a glimmer in the back of his mind and jerked his stick back, narrowly missing a missile fired at his fighter from a ground based platform. "Watch yourself Lonewolf, they've got a couple surprises for us." "I saw it sk8. Oh shit, we've got fighters descending on us, two X-wings and 1 E-wing. I'll take them, you hit the target. Then come help me when you're done." Lonewolf screamed. "I'll be sure to get some nice pictures for you. How close you want them?" sk8 teased his friend. "Tell you what, if you can get me a picture of some hot girl's face, I'll give you 500K. It has to a good, up close one. I reserve the right to not pay you though, depending on the quality. Now if you'll excuse me, I owe a couple Rebels a dance." Lonewolf joked back. "Oh, you'll like the picture, trust me." sk8 amusedly responded back, a smile breaking across his face. "Now, see to your dancing lessons. I'll bet you your 10K they can't as dance as good as you." sk8 betted back. "You're on!" Lonewolf shouted back, his voice stressed as he pulled some very intense G manuevers. Sk8 laughed to himself, and then set his lasers for single fire and closed in on the target. He held his course, attuning himself to some unseen force, heading straight for a glassed window. He held his course, concentrating on one spot and then, finally reading for his ascent, gripped the flight yoke. He flicked a switch and pulled up, snapping a picture of the window as we rose. At the height of his arch, sk8 cut his throttle and let the planet's gravity pull him back in and raked the building in his viewport with deadly accurate laser fire. He strafed the building, pulling his stick left and right as he fell. Coming ever closer to the building, sk8 engaged his engines again and at the last minute, pulled up sharply on his flight yoke, skimming the surface of the build, once again at the same time snapping a picture of the frightened occupants of the building. He know Lonewolf would like his pictures, and having satisified himself, pulled off his run on the building, burning and falling apart behind him, to help Lonewolf out. He reached his position, but was disappointed when he saw Lonewolf flying around, by himself. "Where'd your partners go? I was hoping I could have a dance." "Well, you owe me 10K, that's all I have to say. You get any pictures?" Lonewolf teased his squadron commander. "Sure did, I bet mine are better than any you could take. I'll stay here, you go and have some fun." sk8 ordered as he glanced at his scanners. "Looks like dancing school is in session again. Go on your run, I'll handle these schmucks." Lonewolf raced off toward the ransacked building, and sk8 switched channels to a Rebel frequency, "Welcome to the Aegis school of dancing, my name is sk8; I'll be your instructor this evening." sk8 announced to the incoming rebel fighters. He got no response, so he hailed them again, raqndomly picking out targets in his crosshairs, "Who wants the first lesson?" He still received no response, "First lesson is free."he said as he thumbed his trigger and green laser fire lanced out toward one X-wing, randomly chosen by sk8. It exploded and sk8 began teaching hte rebels how to dance in the atomsphere.

"Well, how about those pictures?" sk8 asked Lonewolf as he joined him back in the stomsphere. "Well, I was gonna take a really nice one, but I couldn't get the girl to take her shirt off. Sorry." he responded. "Well, that's ok. Wanna take out the other building first, or dance some more?" sk8 proceeded with a question. Lonewolf thought for a moment and then replied, rather arrogantly, "Let's get the other building; but on one condiditon, I hit it first." "Ok, that's not a problem." sk8 relayed back to his friend as the two fighters headed for the horizon. Sk8 wondered what his good buddy was up too, but it was probably good was all he could say.

Liquid, acting on complete instinct, immediately shouted: “WATCH OUT JMAC!!” and immediately saw his friend move his ship just as he shouted. “thank god” Liquid muttered as he watched the enemy anti aircraft fire miss JMac’s tie advanced. Sensing immediately something coming for him, Liquid turned around and saw a fleet of Awings, they looked like they had been waiting for them, but Liquid couldn’t place just where they had came from. Liquid quickly switched his weaponry to lasers, and called on Fallen to help him out, while JMac carried out part of the mission. As the awings approached, Fallen quickly barked orders. “It looks like there’s 10-15 of them. I want you to take out as many as you can, I’ll do the same, now let’s move move move!” Liquid quickly increased his speed to full throttle and turned his lasers on quad fire “finally, a challenge” Liquid muttered after he singled out the first one. He quickly shot a rapid burst of 3 at the enemy ship, disabling it’s shield, and severely damaging the ship. As Flight three, and their newly aquired flight member, Liquid, were working on their mission, elsewhere, Flight 2 was working on their’s. “Okay PJ, let’s get going,” Twin shouted to his only flight member. “We have a mission…” Twin was interrupted as 4 Xwings burst out with rapid laser fire behind them. Twin and PJ immediately went into evasive maneuvers, as the Xwings continued their fire, PJ slammed on the air brakes hard, pulled left on his stick, swung it around, and took one of their ships out. “one down, 3 to go” he shouted to Twin. Twin immediately pulled a tight loop, got behind one, and let go with his quad lasers. “another one down, PJ, you take the one that’s closer to you.” “Yes Sir!” said PJ. PJ set his sights on the Xwing that was quickly approaching him from the right hand side. “let’s have some fun” PJ decided, and throttled up his Tie Advanced. “WOOOOH!” he shouted as he pulled a high g loop, coming out of hit and completely obliterating the Xwing that was so diligently following him. “there we go sir. Would you like some help?” he asked Twin. “no PJ, you continue towards the mission objective, I’ll catch up in a few.” It was obvious that Twin was struggling with the ace in the cockpit of the Xwing that was on his tail, he just couldn’t shake him. Then Twin remembered something that Sk8 had once told him while they were in the sims. “If all else fails, slam the brakes, and hope he flies overhead.” So, PJ slammed on the brakes, and watched in amazement of how stupid these pilots actually were. “IT WORKED!” he shouted, and quickly eliminated the Xwing with a few quick bursts from his laser cannons.

JMac muttered a curse under his breath as his lasers glanced off the sheilded anti-aircraft guns once again.  Not bad enough that their supposedly cake target had teeth, not bad enough that they were caught in a trap, but now the guns had sheilds that were apparently too strong for lasers.  JMac slewed his ship sharp right as another volley was fired from the guns, then fired again.  The bolts were absorbed about 3 meters away from the turrets.  JMac's scans were coming up completely blank as to any plausable sheild generators.  "*^%#(, I'm not having any luck with these gun turrets," JMac half said, half yelled in anger.  "They are just too strong." "You need to get those down," Fallen repleid tensely as he destroyed yet another enemy ship.  "You need to take those things down now!  We have our hands full keeping those fighters off of your back." JMac spun his ship into another turn as the anti-aircraft guns fired again, and desperately tried to come up with a plan.  He fired again.  Still nothing.  Then he looked down on the landing field and grinned.  He pulled his ship intio another tight spiral, but was just a bit sloppier then usual.  Another burst of fire hit him in his wing, shearing off the salar panel and sending him into a spin.  "Jmac!", he heard Liquid yell as he spiraled down towards the ground.  At the last second, he fired a quick repulsor jet and then braced himself.  The fighter slammed into the ground, jarring him and shattering his panels.  While his ship was still coming to a stop, he gave some quick commands  to his computer and bailed.  The cargo that he had ejected was sitting on the ground, perfect.  Moving fast, Jmac grabbed it and ran.  Two seconds later he threw himself flat as the torpedoes he had wired to go off exploded, sending chunks of durasteel everywhere and temporarely blinding those that haden't been prepared.  He hoped.  JMac used the cover of ther blast to make it to the hole that the AA gun was emplaced, crouched down, and got to work.

OOC: Gah, I'm really stagnant guys. -------------------------- Fallen swiped around the massive sturctures, blasting down all towers and defence mechanisms. After blowing up the last tower he could find, Fallen flew up back. 'Sk8, I just blew the hell out of the the defensive structures. What do you still have for me?' 'Just bum around and see if there's any stuff to blow up for the moment. I'm kinda busy down here.' 'Sure.'  

Lonewolf joined sk8 back in the atmosphere. Sk8 knew his friend finished off the target, or at least did enough damage. "Ok Lonewolf, let's head back ino the fray. Dancing school is in." "Right behind you sk8, lead the way." Lonewolf replied back. The two TIE Advanced streaked back into space. Sk8 couldn't wait to get back into the combat. As the wo reentered space, sk8 noticed only about half the capital ships remained and very few fighters. Dissappointment ran across his face as he realized Riel had mopped up while they were away. It looked as if the battle was over and Aegis had nothing more to do. All sk8 had to do was wait for the rest of his squadron to finish their missions. Lonewolf suggested to sk8 that they should radio up the teams and see how they were doing. Sk8 decided that was the best thing to do and commed in the leaders of each team. "Aegis, what's the progress on your targets?"

OOC: Here is the scoop.  Some of our ships were attacked by allies of some pirates.  We jumped in with some capitol ships and basically wasted them.  Aegis then went down to the planetto prepare the way for an invasion.  Sk8guy and LW are attacking various cities to make a distraction while the rest of us strip the base's defenses.  They had concealed AA guns with sheilds that are incredible and we couldn't punch through.  I crashed so I could get behind the sheilds, every else is taking out fighter cover and making potshots on the turrets.
