I know I'm sort of an ass about things like this, but here's my 2 cents, since you solicited it.

I, personally, could give a crap less about whether or not people want to kill themselves. That's their own thing, and it does not - SHOULD not - concern me. I have basically no respect for someone in that state of mind because my own self-preservation instinct makes the very thought of suicide the most abhorrent thing I can imagine.

Threatening other people with the fact that you will kill yourself is about the lowest thing I can imagine in any context. If someone on the internet provokes you to that point, please, prove Darwin more correct.

I know that's probably harsh. I know it makes me seem very callous, but that's my stance.

Few things will move me to post on the comnet; this is one of them.

I have my two cents to add, even though I have been away for a very long time.

Do you know who my favourite member in the VE is?

It's Snipes. He's carefree, fun and most importantly, I have never seen Snipes taking the VE so seriously as to be embroiled in the petty little power struggles that has always been a constant feature in every single online Star Wars club from Emperor's Hammer to our Vast Empire. Never. To me, though he cannot match the sterling contributions of newer members of the club such as Riqimo, he is my VE hero. On the surface he looks like the guy most likely to be checked into a nuthouse but I consider him the sanest guy in here.

I do not know a single thing that's been going on about Darr, but from my cursory glance, I can only roll my eyes. You may dismiss me with a you-don't-know-what-are-you-talking-about.

I will dismiss you with you-need-to-keep-a-fricking-sense-of-perspective-with-real-life.

Let me remind all of you why we came to this club.

We wanted to pretend to be Stormtroopers. Or TIE Pilots. Or Sith Lords. Repeat that aloud. I want to pretend that I'm a Stormtrooper in a Star Wars universe.

We came here because we were so impressed by that opening battle scene in A New Hope where the Stormies duked it out with those pesky Rebels. Because of the TIE vs X-Wing dogfights. Because Carrie Fisher gave us a goddamn hard-on with her whole slave and metal bikini combo when we were hitting puberty.

Look at yourselves. You all immersed yourselves so totally that you are concerned about faceless people hiding behind silly aliases reeking of purile fantasy like Angel, Talon, Darr-Rann, Snipes, Cosmic, Fury, Kadann not to mention Hashi Shiyun and so on and so forth and what they might do to you.

You allowed yourselves to become so emotionally engaged that issues like who has ops, who got that stupid virtual medal, who has moderator status, is he abusing it, is this guy fit to be my virtual Stormtrooper squad leader and etcetera.

I joined back in Sep 03. In my years here I have seen constant silly little quarrels over status that looking back, I am ashamed of them.

If I were to take my girlfriend and point out to her all the silly little internal power struggles going on here, the grudges, the friction, she will laugh her head off at these silly little Star Wars nerds who seem to have lost all sense of manhood.

She'd think the VE is a club made of junior high pre-pubescent bitches.

It's just freaking Star Wars. Nothing more, nothing less.

You don't need to get pissed even if you think someone is being mean to you, even if he is abusing ops. You don't need to get pissed if someone climbing over your head.

Jesuuuuuuus Christ. Go out, get laid or something.

Snipes, I do see how carefree you are about things around here and I'm a bit jealous. Unfortunately with my job a lot of times I have to do my best to remain impartial when I just want to backhand the person being stupid. I guess I'll just live vicariously through you.
