Anival was startled by the sudden wake up call; he forgot he was supposed to be attending his first Vehicular crewman Class today. He ran to his locker, changed, and ran to the class. As Anival entered he got stares from the rest of the people present, There weren’t many probably ten to fifteen. Anival made his way to the back seat, he heard snicker come from his fellow class mates, he didn’t know why they would laugh but he shrugged it off and started to sit, as soon as he sat down, he pulled back up hard. Instinctively Anival got up and was in his fighting stance. When he saw that it was an officer he straightened and saluted. “What do you think you are doing?!” spat the officer. Now Anival knew why the class had been laughing, he felt resentment for the lot of them for not telling him.  “Your late and therefore, must take the punishment” the officer grinned.



“Drills, just like a new recruit” said the Officer, Anival looked at the officer. “What?” he challenged “do I have a strill on my face?”  The class broke out in laughter, but were quickly silenced by the officers stern look. For the next hour, while the officer spoke to the class Anival was stuck doing pushups, and had to repeat every sentence or so. “There are three basic types of vehicles repeated Anival, tracked, repulsorlift, and walker.” He repeated. After a while the officer told him to get up, and take a seat. Anival was red with rage, he wasn’t embarrassed or anything it was that he noticed another trooper enter, later than he had, and the officer just nodded at him and motioned to an empty seat near Anival’s.



After the officer explained certain parts of the repulsorlift, and its maintenance, he shot Anival a look and sneered, Anival almost spat a word that would make a Coralien deck hand blush, but bit his tongue, he didn’t want his temper to get him kicked out of a class he actually wanted to take.  “Private alarm clock,” said the officer “get over here” Anival looked around  the room. He wanted to see who this “Alarm Clock“ was, then he noticed the class was all looking at him. Anival got up and walked to the front,  “What can you tell me about what we just said? or were you sleeping?” at that everybody broke out laughing. Anival recited the basic’s they had just gone over as well as the controls, and uses for the vehicles, and the classification for them.





The officer continued his lecture for a while, Anival made sure to take careful notes, and memorized certain useful information. Then the officer asked “What are the most stable types of ships on uneven terrain?” “Tracked, and repulsorlift, sir” responded Anival. “Why” he said with amusement. “With those two there is more traction, sir” chimed Anival “and they are more stable in on uneven terrain.” After the class the officer motioned Anival over to his desk. He handed him a holodisk. They talked for a while then
the officer smiled and sent him on his way.



Anival reflected on the day as he walked back to the barracks, the class hadn’t been a total waste of time, he had learned certain new kinds of uses for tracked vehicles, and he had decided that the instructor wasn’t to bad. Anival reached the barracks, laid the holodisk on his bed, and headed for the showers. After he was clean he checked the holodisk, it was a recap on the days lecture, he studied it for hours till he could recite everything by heart, then he decide to take a nap, after all tomorrow was another day.
