Orobos -- Combat Engineer
Level 6: Terrain Management
Story 2: Battlefield Recon
"Alright," the instructor said staring at the trainees standing in a line in front of him, "We'll be giving each of you command of a small squad for this practice run. You'll be delivered to a starting point via shuttle and will be expected to find your way to a specified point on you map. Once there you will take some pictures of the collected vehicles in the area and report back. If this was an actual this would help to find key points in storming the vehicle depo and to find points to place demolitions for maximum damage. Alright if you'll grab your gear and follow me I'll take you to your squads."

Orobos lay on his stomach with a pair of binoculars held up to his eyes. He could see a large dip in the earth surrounded by a lot of trees on each side. The perfect place for an ambush and he knew that they would know that he knew this. He was reluctant to split his squad up but he'd have to if they were going to get around this.
"Alright listen up. We're going to split into three groups," he said to his squad who were lying low on the crest of the hill behind him, "I'm going to take a group around the right to flank them. Group two led by the sergeant will take up positions at the mouth of the valley here," Orobos told them circling the area with his finger "and the third group led by the corporal here will move straight up the valley. Once my group attacks them in the flank, team three will pull back to the mouth of the valley while the sergeants team gives them covering fire. Once at the mouth of the valley move up to support us."
They split up into even teams and moved into positions. The trees provided good cover for them. The enemy Orobos was sure would be expecting them to flank them and so Orobos hoped they'd be distracted by the major tactical fault of sending meant down the valley. It was a training simulation so anyone hit would only be stunned for an hour or so. If this was real life he probably wouldn't have sent the troopers into the valley unless there was no other option.
Orobos watched as the teams reached there positions and the corporal and his troopers started to move up the valley. Orobos took his team and pushed on further into the forest. They made a wide sweeping motion around to where he expected the enemy to be positioned along the ridge. They heard as the enemy opened fire on the decoy. Orobos and his team burst through the foliage right behind the men firing on his squad and gunned them down before they had time to react.
The corporal and his men made it back to the end of the valley and Orobos watched them as they moved to link up with them. Fire from the other side of the valley made them all jump back into cover. They hadn't gotten taken care of the ambush just yet. Orobos switched the radio in his helmet on.
"Sergeant change of plans. Take your group around the left and get 'em in the rear."
"Understood," came the reply and them the low buzz of static.
The exchanged fire from there positions on the ridges of the valley for a few minutes. Orobos sent a flurry of shots into the bushes. The enemy returned fire. After a few more minutes the enemy failed to return fire.
"We've got them," came the sergeants’ voice over the squad radio,
"Great meet us at the end of the valley," Orobos said delighted with the progress they were making. They had just under a kilometer to go until they reached the vehicle depo. He'd selected a point in which they could get pictures of the sight from high ground and so a better view of the whole area.
*******************************
Orobos threw himself down on the soil. They could see out over the area. There were several trucks where parked. A few men were patrolling the area.
"Alright let’s do this quickly."
The man who had the camera crawled up to the top of the hill and started taking the pictures. The rest of the squad stayed alert looking around for anyone who might stumble across their position. After about a dozen pictures the man announced he was ready and the squad sunk back down to the tree line to return back to where they'd left the shuttle.
- OOC:
- Passed. Good application of the spec. Since you will soon approach the qualifying exams that make up your final story, I suggest that you try and make your specs longer for practice, as the 'exams' are required to be slightly longer. Good luck on your next one.
