Trevor had come back early form his leave. He told Jeg he was bored, which was partially the truth, but the other part of him just couldn’t stand to be away from the Atrus without Tokijin. He had grown attached to two things in life. Flying, and Toks. Since he couldn’t do either one, he figured he was best off to be near the place where the two sort of intertwined. He had been waiting for Nazgul to return to the rec-room from their simulation training, and wasn’t disappointed when Jeg showed up first. After a quick chat a bunch of the other Nazgul pilots began to filter in, slowly sitting down around the table Trevor was at and idly chatting between themselves. From what Trevor understood, the training sims had gone decently. Most, if not all of Nazgul had been taken down from their high horse, and Trevor felt that it was better that happened in a simulation rather than an actual fight.

After sitting for a while and sharing a few drinks over tales from the simulation, Trevor withdrew a pack of cards from the pocket of his jacket and began to shuffle them. “I know you guys are probably kind of tired, but how about a game of Hold ‘em, just for the hell of it.” Trevor asked and he looked at the different faces. A few lit up while others kind of just nodded and glanced back and forth. A couple mentioned they were tired and didn’t want to play, and decided to head off towards their beds.

With just Jeg, Lousy, Roth, Rusty, G’shlecc, and Dante left sitting at the table, Trevor was about to begin dealing the cards when Jeg elbowed him. “You don’t mind if I deal, do you? I’m not a big gambler.” He explained, and Trevor nodded, handing him the cards. It didn’t matter to him who dealt. He waved over one of the small droids that helped out around the room and requested some poker chips, which were promptly brought to his side.

“Before you hand those out, maybe we can make this interesting?” G asked, holding up a credit disk. Trevor shrugged, but the rest of the squadron seemed to agree. “How about a thousand each?” G continued, and everyone seemed to be fine with the sum. After Trevor dealt out a thousand credits worth of playing chips to everyone, an idea sparked him.

“Hell, I’ll pitch in a bit of a cash prize to the winner. Gotta do something with my money.” Trevor grinned, as the serving droid stood by and kept a virtual pool of the total money. It wouldn’t deposit the money into anyone’s account until someone had been declared the winner. Trevor’s promise of a cash reward seemed to enthuse everyone a little bit further, knowing that their boss had been known to be generous when it came to prizes for competitions.

Trevor grabbed the button out of the chip set and put it in front of Jeg, making G’shlecc the big blind and Roth the little blind. “Big and little blinds are ten and five, respectively.” Jeg said as he began dealing the cards and G and Roth both tossed in the first chips. The cards fluttered about the table and Jeg skillfully gave each player a pair of cards, and then the game was off, with Roth up first.

OOC:

Ok, this story is going to be a little bit different. One, you’re not going to know what your opponent has, and you’re going to have to be as descriptive as possible about your own actions and whatnot. Two, you cannot really control the other characters, aside from mentioning other people’s past actions and stuff.. Of course, controlling someone’s character who has folded is all good, since they won’t affect the outcome of the hand any further. For these reasons, I don’t expect super long posts, just really really descriptive ones.

Jeg will deal out the cards tomorrow, I hope, so keep an eye on your message center. The order is as follows:

Roth, G, Dante, Rusty, Lousy, Trevor.

Roth looked at his cards, then looked around at his comrades, they all had convincing poker faces. He chuckled, thinking to himself, 'This oughta be interesting...' He looked at his hand again, and smiled.

"I check, G, it's all yours now." Roth thought for a second, and pulled out five cigars, and an Imperial Zippo. "Anyone want one? My treat, at least this time." He lit his own, and waited to see who would take one. He drew a puff, and blew the smoke into the middle of the table. He looked around, the deck of cards bore the Imperial logo, it seems everything does, as he looks at his zippo.

Roth had very little experience playing any sort of card game, he'd never even seen a deck until he boarded the Atrus. It was unusual for him to even have a moments rest, at least until now. The room dimmed down, the only light coming from an over head lamp directly over the table. Curls of smoke whisped around the heads of the players, and Roth waited for G's move.

Dante looked at his cards and smiled, this was the tactic Dante used when playing any betting game; sit there smile make jokes at like you have the best hand no matter if it is the worst hand in the game, you still make money if they fold to you. After taking the cigar Dante realized he had no cutter so he looked at G who smirked and handed him his, "Thanks man," Dante said as he handed it back after cutting the cigar tip of. The smoke felt good for Dante after having done two sims and dieing in both of them.

If dieing while flying wasn't what was probably going to kill me I might be worried about what this cigar is doing to my body, oh well CARPE DIEM, thats my motto

"Thank ye kindly Roth. I check," G said in an unusually calm voice before staring blankly into Dante's eyes.

Dante started laughing at the man, "G that ain't gonna work on moi my friend. I will raise the bet....ehhh lets say some where around hmmmmmm since it is only the opening bet 10 credits, how does that sound to y'all?" Dante grabbed one ten chip and tossed it lazily into the middle as he took another hit of his cigar, "Man Roth you may be a bad drunk but one hell of a smoker these are FINE! What blend are these?"

Girias let out a big yawn before sitting down and listening to the introduction to the game rules. After that bit he looked and listened to Roth checking and his offer of a smoke. Taking him up on it, he tried to take one but Rusty the Wookie beat him to hit. With a big scaring rumbling of his voice Rusty grabbed one of the last cigars and took it for his own. Girias backed down and took one after the Wookie, lighting it with one of the many zippos of the smoking teammates. After taking a deep breath of the smoke during G's turn he started coughing, tears swelled up in his eyes and he could barely stop coughing to hear the rest of G's turn, who checked aswel. Dante acted all tough as he raised the betting. A few roars followed with a small robot translating it to regular ol' basic.

"Sonnova ... I fold. Jeg, learn how to deal cards right, man."

Being impressed by the Wookie's roaring voice, and the immense difficulty the young Zabrakian has to quit coughing he manages to look at his cards without showing them by laying his hand on both of them on the table and slowly lifting the corners of the cars just a little bit to see what he's holding. Still coughing, he uses it as a good poker face and takes two chips from one of the piles and throws them into the pile.

"I *cough**cough* call. Your *cough**cough* turn, Trevor."

Roth gave a huge grin as he pulled another drag from his cigar.

He blew it into the air, and responded "Whaddya think, man! They're the only kind you can buy on the ship...but hell, they aren't that bad are they." He mulled over his hand mentaly for a moment before replying, "I call...G, it's all yours."

Roth tapped his cigar with his pinky lightly to knock off the ash, and took another discreet look at his cards. He took another long drag on his cigar, the cocky smile hiding itself in the smoke.

He tossed a few chips onto the table, "I raise, one hundred creds."

He smiled again, as he leaned back, enjoying his smoke.

He tilted his head over to G, "Once again, G. Up to you."

Dante looked at G and thought about what an idoit he must be to bet 1000 credits in the first hand, "Sure I will match you G," Dante said and shoved all his chips in the table.

What is a thousad creds anyway?

Dante took another hit of his cigar and a drink from a beer that a droid had brought him from the other room.

Roth laughs as he pushes all of his chips into the now large pile. "I'm in too...I suppose you all want to loose a thousand creds, eh?" He took a hit from his cigar, and blew it out as he leaned back in his chair, balancing on the rear two legs.

He scrutinized the other players, all giving him a good poker faces, making Roth crack another cocky smile. "G, I know your just full of it, so let's just get this over with, eh?"

Ladies, hmph

  "You're awfully chippy for someone who hasn't bothered to drop a credit on the table, Jeg." Stated G.

  He really didn't mind Jeg's banter, he rather enjoyed it.  The rest of the kids didn't do enough of it, the game was boring.  He decided to go all in and blow this pop stand, win or lose.  He wanted to call Yulia and maybe do a little running.  He'd noticed that his gut was getting a little less toned lately and wanted to stop it before it got too far along. 

  His cards weren't great, but they did have the potential for a drawn strait.  Hell, it was only IC 1000, and lords knows he had creds to spare.  Some of his recent investments had put him in a very comfortable place.  So comfortable in fact that if he wanted to he could blow his entire paycheck in one game and not lose a bit of sleep.  That, howeer, would not be something he'd do.  The rest of the kids were probably not as fortunate as him, and he didn't want to create tension in the squadron.  They were finally begining to accept him as a pilot and as a squadron mate.  Everyone except Rusty, G doubted the Wook would ever accept anyone.

  "OK, here we go.  10 of Clubs and 2 of Spades.  Just a little tiny bluff." He said as he flipped the cards.

  His smile was big as the incredulous looks of shock and bewilderment that washed over the Nazzies.  He leaned back in his chair, took a long drag on his cigar, and grinned as he waited for the rest of them to show.

This may still be fun after all

Roth's smile grew wider as G then Lousy revealed their hands, and even broke out into laughter. "Well, sorry to disapoint, fellas, but I've only got a three of diamonds, and an eight of hearts, making for two pair, with a seven kicker."

He leaned back on his chair, and took another long drag on his cigar, a smug look on his face, he figured he had the game in the bag, unless some one else had a suprise up their sleeves.

Jegora shook his head at his crazy wingmates throwing away money. Cutting a card of the top of the deck, he laid down the fourth card. It was a 2 of Hearts.

Gshlecc grinned. He now had a pair. Roth still looked confident, and the rest didn't seem to care. Jegora cut another card, and laid down the River.

It was a 4 of Clubs.
