Background History:
Growing up in high-society on Taris, Dinin was given many things. His education was top of the line and fully private. He had a physician, a dietician, a chef, a maid and a house full of other servants waiting for an order to be sent their way. He received top marks in his studies, and maintained a good course of exercise to keep him self healthy. But he wanted more. Not more in the way of being spoiled, but it all felt empty.
He knew he was being trained for the family business that had served his ancestors so well, but he didn’t care. It wasn’t challenging. He could draw a very accurate time-line for his life, and this fact disturbed him. He wanted uncertainty, he wanted risk, he didn’t want success handed to him on a silver plate with a lightly sauteed creme sauce and garnish. So he had his parents get him a martial arts trainer.
His parents found a master from off world to come and teach their son what they thought would just be a simple distraction that would soon blow over like any phase of a teenage boy. Dinin fell into his training with abandon. He soaked up all that the man would teach him finding great comfort in the ideas of combat. But it wasn’t enough. When he felt sure that he had learned enough to try, he entered a tournament and quickly proved himself against his opponents one by one, winning the amateur tournament easily. With that first competition he was hooked.
Dinin kept his master until he had learned all he could, and then he sent him away to find a different teacher. Over the course of several years he brought in all forms of teachers, and learned their techniques one by one. He mastered knife fighting with relative ease, he quickly became accomplished with a variety of swords and other weapons, he had extensive knowledge of many martial arts ranging from open hand to closed fist, and all forms in between. He even found a trainer for marksmanship which he found a enormous delight for. And with each acquired skill, the more he began to realize that there was nothing of challenge to him on Taris.
He had the knowledge and skills of someone far older than he, and he knew that he would not find any difficulty in making a name for himself on Taris, despite his already large fan-base in the fighting world for his successes. It was then that his sights turned off-world. He had heard of the Imperial Army, but had never given a thought to joining until he realized that he could not only increase his own personal control over his body and his knowledge of combat, but could also find challenges that would keep him satisfied. So, denying his parents’ wishes, he flew off world and joined the Imperial Army in the pursuit of glory, and adventure.
He found the training to be tough, despite his already great physical health, but made it through with relative ease. His constant desire for personal evolution and development quickly lead him to the rank of Corporal, where he sits today.
Personality: Dinin is quite full of himself. Being raised in a rich family and faced with success after success, he tends to look down on those around him. Usually this is veiled heavily under the ingrained respect that he gives to his colleagues and commanding officers, but his ego and pride are both larger than is healthy. Because of his personal drive for improvement and his overbearing pursuit of challenge, he often gets himself, and subsequently those close to him, into situations that are far more dangerous than they need to be. Those who know him often wonder if he won’t one day be the cause of his own downfall one day.
