Welcome to the VE Navy and to the Academy, Jaron.
One of the training officers will be by to post what you will need to do for your training. That is, if you couldn't tell from the many other training threads. Hope you stay with us, and that you enjoy your time here. =)

Greetings Crewman Tenahrien, welcome to the Vast Empire. My name is Ibram Tyrol, and I will be you're operator whilst you train here at the Academy. If you have any questions at all, simply go to the message centre and type in my full name into the recipient's box, along with your queries. To get you started, I'm now going to direct you to our wiki page, where most of the training materials are kept. This can be found here.To begin your training, you must first create your character. Having clicked on the link above, you can navigate to the page by clicking on Basic Training, Flight School, and then Chapter 1 (quick link: here) Before going to Flight School, you may want to give Imperial Initiation (II) a quick read - it gives a brief introduction to life as a pilot in the star wars universe. Once you have followed the instructions set out in Chapter 1, please post it here for marking, and we can advance you along to the next stage. Whilst you train, I also recommend you get onto IRC (Or Instant Rely Communication). Most, if not all of the Vast Empire's active members frequent the IRC channels, so you will be able to find many a friend and mentor in this place. To get onto IRC, either follow the "JavaChat" link from the main page (It's in the left hand column) or download an IRC client (e.g. mIRC) and follow the instructions in the MainComnet forum. Once again, on behalf of the VENA, welcome the Navy, we hope you enjoy your stay. Operator Tyrol

Name: Jaron kai
Race: Human
Age: 20
Height: 5'9"
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Hazel
Home planet: Ord Mantell
Physical Description: Jaron is a bit taller than the average woman, and in good shape at 20 years old without being overly muscular or bulky. She has dark red hair, which she generally keeps cut short, because it’s easier to maintain that way. Her hazel eyes rarely stay focused in one place for long, and you get the impression that she’s looking over your shoulder at something that might be coming to get you. Her morning routine is about 30 seconds longer than the average guy, and that’s only because her hair has a tendency to tangle and she can’t get away with only using a comb. You won’t see her wearing extensive make-up or pretty dresses, even planet-side in this month’s most fashionable club. Her notion of “dressed up” is somewhere closer to what is commonly understood as fitted and utilitarian; blasters make fine fashion accessories and black has always been a classic color.
Emotional Description: For the most part, it seems like Jaron has a fairly even keel. She listens well and usually resists the temptation to act on impulse and emotions. That said, however, when her fuse does run out, things can get messy very quickly. Jaron is clever and knows it, but she doesn’t let everyone see that. She is a schemer, which translates into hilarious pranks and outrageous statements when she’s in a good mood and vicious episodes of revenge when she’s provoked. Even in a world where very little is actually fair, Jaron cleaves to her notion of fairness and justice (which is sometimes colored into something else by her rage), and she justifies her more violent outbursts, both verbally and physically, by insisting that she is only trying to make the situation fair or even. She takes particular joy in watching others earn what she considers to be their due, be it positive or negative. Jaron never acts without justification, even if that translates to a ridiculous statement based on the sort of logic that comes only from blind rage.
History: Jaron grew up on Ord Mantell, working with her father in their mostly legal, often not shipping business. She’s an experienced short-haul pilot and knows her way around most common cargo vehicles. Her mother died when she was 15, and her father recently perished in a shipping accident, leaving the family business to her and her two brothers. When her parents were alive, Jaron was required to love her brothers, but that is no longer the case. She sees them both as lazy, ineffectual, and having ridden on her and her father’s coat-tails for free for too long. Although her father’s will left her a third share of the company, with her brothers in charge, it seemed best not to stay. Jaron suspects that her oldest brother was responsible for her father’s death, and in one of her enraged moments, she decided to give her brothers their due by destroying 1/3 of the ships and other equipment owned by their company. For all intents and purposes, the destruction appeared to have been caused by an unfortunate combination of several large, improperly sealed crates containing a large shipment of live nunas from Naboo and their accompanying foodstuffs, which somehow found its way into the delicate electronic bowels of the business’s capital assets. Uncertain of how well she covered her tracks and unable to adequately explain to her father’s old business partners why she had suddenly broken away from such a respected company name, however, Jaron decided it was time for a change of pace. The Kai family had never been supporters of the Rebellion, or the New Republic that sprung up after the effective end of the Civil War, so when Jaron went looking for adventure, discipline, and much faster ships, her journey led her to the Vast Empire Navy.
Just as a note, thanks for that post Ibram, because the e-mail that I got from Training Droid 618 sent me to a dead link for the Academy: http://academy.imperial-navy.com. I just whipped up that bio this morning, version #312 of this Jaron character (I really like the name), so I await your feedback. *salutes*

Hello Jaron.
Once again, let me welcome you to the Vast Empire Navy
I'm very impressed with your Bio, it's definitely one of the better ones ive seen - one of the things we encourage here is to make your character as unique as possible, and one of the best ways to do this is to make them normal.
The only thing i will say is that it helps if at the beginning of your profile you give a list of all the important info, so, for example:
Name:
Age:
Sex:
Race:
Homeplanet:
etc.... I realise that you have mentioned all of this information in the body of your bio, but the quick summary always helps.
Apart from that, theres not really anything else wrong with it. Well done Pilot - I especially like the reasons you gave for joining the Vast Empire....which brings me on to one small other point. Now this doesnt have to be done now, but you may want to think about why you joined the Vast Empire specifically as opposed to another splinter faction. But as i said, your bio is pretty much sound for the moment.
You may now move on to the next chapter.
Well done

Crewman Jaron Kai submitting his report: "Combat Maneuvers Summary" The Barrel RollA barrel roll can be used offensively and defensively to decrease your air speed and put you in a better position relative to your target. To execute a barrel roll, roll your craft slightly and then pitch it. You can increase the amount of speed you lose by increasing your pitch. In offensive situations, a barrel roll can keep you from overshooting your target and in defensive situations, a barrel roll can force your unsuspecting opponent to overshoot you, opening them up for fire from your cannons. The ScissorsThe scissors is a series of sharp turns, reversing your craft's direction with the goal of forcing your opponent to overshoot and put themselves in front of your cannons. The reversals must be carefully timed relatively to how quickly your target is overtaking you, or you risk putting yourself in a disadvantageous position. This maneuver can result in a stalemate and should be used for more than three turns, especially if your opponent has an advantage in turning radius or speed. I await your feedback and further orders. *salute*

::begin transmission::
Jaron Kai's Report: February 25, 2008
Activity: I joined the Vast Empire and began Basic Training by completing my character biography and combat maneuvers summary. I also introduced myself on IRC and found the wonderful cash cow that is the Pay-per-click scheme.
Upcoming plans: Finish Basic Training, receive a squadron placement and begin active duty with the VEN. Also use my newly acquired cash to start building my mousebot army.
Questions/suggestions: None

Awaiting further orders! *salutes*

Well Done Jaron. The only thing you missed out with your report is your ID lines, (And on an inconsequential note, there is not need for the 'begin/end transmission' bits, but feel free to keep them in for flair). For help on ID Lines, go here.I'm going to pass you anyway, but please construct your ID line ASAP and put it in at the bottom of your report - all official transmissions throughout the VE have to carry the senders ID line, it also helps if you put it into your signature as well Congratulations on completing flight School, all that is left is for you to take your Aviators exam, which should be at the bottom of the FS page. Once completed, you don't post it here. Instead, you PM via the message center to both Tomas, and Shazam. Depending on how busy they are, you should receive your grades shortly. In the mean time, feel free to look around the Story board, look at the squadrons and their stories. Shazam will place you in a Squadron once he has marked your exam. Also, You have permission to post on the story "Nazgul: New waiting on the old". It was originally intended for new Nazgul pilots to practice writing whilst they wait to join in on the squad story's, but the creator has opened it up to all new pilots. Feel free to RP there whilst you wait for a placement. Thats about all i can do now. It has been a pleasure. Hopefully I'll see you around. *Salutes*

Ok, I have a question, here's what I have so far on my ID line:
TRN/CRW Jaron Kai/Sting ?/[wing]/[ship]/[fleet]/VEN/VE
I poked around the online roster and found out that Sting Squadron is the training squadron, but I don't know what placement I have in it, or what to fill in for wing, ship and fleet. Can anyone help me out with that?
Thanks!
Also, I have submitted my Aviator's exam to Tomas and Shazam via PM as requested.

I've received your exam and will be marking it momentarily. As for your ID line, I'm glad to see you've got the basics for it down. Truth be told, it's a lot easier to put together once you've been assigned to a squadron.

Sorry for not getting back to you Jaron, had a meeting to attend at Uni.
As Tomas said, You've got the besics of the ID line. The blank spaces aren't really filled until you are placed. As for being in "Sting" squadron, at the moment Sting is a squadron in name only, for admin purposes so we can see whose going through traning, your not given a specific number anyway.
As for your placement, you are usually placed once your exam has been marked and returned, however Shazam sometimes likes placing people earlier just to get it out of the way.
Bascially what it will mean for your ID line is that you will either be placed as Viper x or Nazgul x. The rest is always the same: Phoenix Wing, SSD Atrus, 1st Fleet - just look at mine or Tomas' ID line for confirmation.
Hopefully you'll be placed within the next 24hours, but as i said earlier, feel free to look around.
Welcome to the Navy.

I've assigned you to Viper Squadron's third flight; you're now Viper 12. As to what you'll be doing: well, Viper is currently completing a story, but that doesn't mean that they won't, necessarily, be able to get you into the story or atleast get you working. You've already met a good deal of your squadron members and, if you'll run over to their thread on the Navy Main- I'm sure they'd be more than accommodating. Simply introduce yourself and ask for instructions- messaging your FL might be a good idea as well. And buying them expensive gifts... No, I'm just joshin- send the gifts to me. Anywho- congratulations, Jaron, on surpassing the rigors of our Basic Training process, *wink*; welcome to the Imperial Navy, Jaron. HOP TO IT!
