Welcome to the Imperial Naval Academy, Mellainius. I am the Officer of Training (TO) and I, along with Training Executive Officer (TX), Tomas, and our final Trainer, C-3PX2, will be taking you through our training system, known as Basic Training (BT). The three of us staff members make up what is known as the academy staff (VENA-S). We like our abbreviations, huh? Don't give up yet! The good part's just ahead!
In fact, you've actually already finished the first portion, known as Imperial Initiation (II)- you really just had to find your way here and make a thread to do that, though. The second half is a bit more challenging and is known as Flight School (FS)- here you'll learn about the basics of flight, your equipment and what it takes to be an active member of one of our fighter groups. If you'll visit Flight School and take a look at Chapter 1 entitled "Character Creation," you'll be well on your way to completing the first portion of FS. Once you've got a bio written up, simply post it here and one of our trainers will be along to post their comments and further instructions.
In the meantime, if you're looking to get a more accurate idea of our club and its members, I highly encourage you to explore the rest of the ComNet and jump onto our IRC server, via either our free chat applet (jIRC) or the downloadable version known as mIRC. I'll be around to continue updating you with information and interesting opportunities here in the VEN; I hope the best to ya in the future here, Mellainius. Welcome to the Imperial Naval Academy.

Thank you for your reply, sir. I will do as you ask and complete training. *salute*
Chapter 1
Biography
Mel Krasznius was born on the Planet Eriadu in the year 30 BBY. At the age of 15, he became a repairer of various vehicles and worked for his father as a mechanic. Though his life seemed well, his father was killed by theives at age 15. He was near the attack and shot at the theives. However, one of them, a Trandoshan, was able to get behind him with a blunt knife. Mel, a quick shooter, was able to shoot the Trandoshan in the head. Although killed, the Trandoshan was able to cut Mel's cheek before taking his last breath. Thus, he now has a scar on the right side of his face. At 21, he joined the Navy of the Republic, which later became the Imperial Navy. Out of hate and regret for the death of his father, he became a volunteer for many assignments during the time of the Republic. He later became a favorite for a few missions assigned by the politicians with the help of Palpatine. When the Empire was created, Mel Krasznius became a TIE Pilot. Although he has aged through his years, senility never reached him. However, when the Emperor was killed and the Empire broken, Mel returned to Eriadu where he fathered a son, who he regarded as the magnum opus of his life. A day came where an old friend of Mel died and left a Jedi holocron in his will for him. The holocron was then said to be a family heirloom for the Krasznius family since then. Along with the holocron, a message was sent the Mel stating of a new faction rising in the Outer Rim of the galaxy. Mel Krasznius decided to join the Imperial Navy soon after the message. He planned on joining a different faction other than Thrawn's for two reasons: Number one, Mel saw the Chiss as intelligent, yet a race inferior to that of humans. Secondly, Mel Krasznius was a man to take challenge and opportunity. Had he joined Thrawn or another huge fleet, he felt he would not get the recognition as a force to be reckoned with as quick as he would in a smaller fleet. He was one to put himself in situations of risky paths.
Physical Description
His voice became raspy over the years and has a few wrinkles. Many claim that his countenance matches that of Wilhuff Tarkin, except for the large scar on his face. He stands at attention naturally and has blue eyes. His body is thin and his arms are strong. Mel is tall and his hands shake out of stress from time to time.
Emotional Description
Mel Krasznius loves physical objects and uses people, rather than the other way around. He is extremely educated and utilizes his own logic often rather than that of his superiors. Usually, this brings him into trouble, but ends up saving himself in the end. Mel, when reminded of family, will become severely angry, causing his hands to shake disturbingly. When given the task to destroy targets, he feels happiness and gets pleasure from the sadistic use of weaponry. He is a manipulator and is a dangerous threat to the rebels. Overall, Mel does not see what he does as wrong, but is an extremely sadistic human.
History
After his father was murdered before his eyes at the age of 15, Mel became paranoid of others and had a fear for them. He began practicing with various weapons to protect himself. Eventually, he saw himself as the only ethical man and saw everyone else inferior to him. He joined the military quickly after overhearing a few naval officers boast of their positions and denounce anyone below them. After time, he sought peace in the Navy and discovered his sadistic nature. Mel Krasznius is the way he is due to the tragedy of his family. After his father was murdered, his mother was traumatized and put into an asylum of the Republic, which later became a house where those labelled insane 'disappeared.' Mel's mother was no different. He knew what happened, but refused to take her out since he saw her as weak along with the others there.
Further Notes
I emphasize that Mel Krasznius's father was murdered before him (In case you haven't noticed by now :P ). The reason this is important is because it is an emotional weakness he has. Sometimes, he will wake up in the middle of the night screaming for his father. He will cover up this weakness by reminding others of their own. He obssesses with finding other's problems and illnesses and exploits them to make himself look strong. He is extremely manipulative and will blackmail others for personal gain. He constantly wears his uniform to remind others of his status and is strict with formalities. His loyalty to the Empire is greater than the loyalty to himself, which can state a lot in certain situations. The only people he regards 'stronger' than him are his father and the Emperor. Mel Krasznius is power-hungry and is the type of person who will take charge in a leaderless situation. However, he will try to hide the fact that he sees many of his superiors as idiotic fools. Although he is biased and has many negative thoughts of others, he has always had some group of underdogs below him. Mel sees those he calls friends as assets rather than anything else. His friends themselves, however, have taken heed to his words. He plays the role of the martial sage in some cases, but will abandon those closest to him when he sees revenge as a top priority.
Edited with more detail. I hope its a bit more clear of who my character is.

Lol- your bio is interesting for a few reasons, actually. First off- you took the bad guy approach which, ironically, is not as common as you would think, considering we're the Imperials. I have to point something out to you though, Mellainius: we are not the original Empire. After all, the Emperor is dead; the Vast Empire, rather, is a faction of that original empire with a totally different outlook on the importance of its pilots as well as its policies. So, where your character would have had to have been strong in order to even survive the original Empire, he'd have been flying shieldless TIE Fighters after all, members of the VE Navy are generally better protected and allowed to keep their names- they are far more human than the brainwashed folk of the original Empire. Why do I emphasize this? First of all, realize that your character would have had to come across the VE somehow (we're in the wild sector or thereabouts), and, seeings how picky your character is, there's probably a reason why he joined this faction over another one, like Thrawn's or any of the other warlords.
Let me give you some strengths to this character though: you have the ability to be extremely dynamic. The atmosphere of the VEN is going to be totally different than that of the original Empire; furthermore, your character is much older than most members of the VE, even the senior pilots and officers- that creates an interesting set of new conflicts and interests. Also, you left many loose ends around the loss of your mother and father, not to mention all of the previous missions your character has supposedly been involved in- you have a wealth of flashbacks or possible conflicts to choose from. That, my friend, I like about your character- the difference between then and now is something you can bank on, not to mention all of the other colorful aspects you decided to include. Your character will be forced to either live as he always has and suffer, or learn to find some friends or lower his defenses: either will be incredibly difficult. What I suppose I'm trying to tell you is that you've got an incredibly complex character to deal with Mellainius- if you think you can handle him, I won't stop you from trying, but realize that you don't want a character you're going to hate: you're ganna wanna make him more dynamic or changing so that you don't get bored with him.
So- mull these things over and decide if you really want to take on those circumstances as they can be either very limiting or very interesting. Either way, whenever you're satisfied, simply say so and move on to the next chapter entitled "Pilot Procedure." You'll need to post the assignment here when you've finished it. Also- a once over of your bio might help in terms of grammar, punctuation and whatnot- good job so far, Mellainius: very interesting.

I do realize that the time period is the post-Imperial era. However, I wanted my character a bit seasoned. I have added a few more details which can probably fit somehow with a point of disclosure later on.
Assignment:
The Sandwich: When an enemy is pursuing you, your wingman will go behind the enemy craft behind you and try to attack it while making sure you are safely out of his line-of-sight. This technique can come in handy when you have a mission which requires the maximum condition of all systems, such as the destruction of a frigate's engines before escape. This technique can come in handy during such a time because it allows you to focus more on your mission rather than the enemy behind you. This can also be extremely important if you have multiple targets behind you. The technique will then allow you and your wingman/men to spread out your fire and attack multiple enemies at once.
The High-Speed Yoyo: As an attacker rapidly turns away from you, increasing the problem of AoT, you must increase altitude, turn towards the invader, then go back to your original altitude. You will end up closer in terms of AoT in the successful usage of the High-Speed Yoyo. One may use this when facing quick scouting ships. This would be an important technique to utilize during such a time since it will allow you to catch up with him and be in a better position to take down the enemy craft as fast as possible. It is important to never use this technique carelessly, since you can end up in a position where you can't find the enemy if he decides to make a second turn before you finish the complete technique.
I await a reply -.-

Nicely done.
For the final step, please consult Chapter 3 of the Flight School link. Once completed, you will be placed in a squadron.
Now I thought I'd share a little information on your current position, and rank in the Vast Empire (though they will change on completion of Chapter 3), as well as some of the other things the Vast Empire has to offer.
Just as every member does, you will begin your naval career at the bottom- Crewman (CRW), and the position known as Trainee. However, upon completing BT, it's very likely you'll be promoted provided you put in the proper time and energy; people count on our leaders so we like to make sure people are promoted for the right reasons. Note, however, that you're not perfectly poor- we've given you a starting balance of 1,000 ICs (Imperial Credits), an Imperial Pilot Flight Suit (combat uniform), DL-44 Blaster Pistol, 3 Ration packs, a 3-Mal Personal Comlink, 2 bottles of Mertine I anti-radiation treatment, and a pair of Imperial Boxer Shorts. These items are to be used in the stories you'll be writing, so the more items you have, the more developed your stories become: use them wisely.
You might be wondering where you see and buy all of these items? If you look down the left hand side of the main page in the navigation, you'll see that you have a First Galactic Bank account- that's where these items are stored. The Imperial Center Store is the primary mode of purchasing for members in the VE- perhaps you'd like to shop around yourself? Note that if you're short on cash, the Pay Per Click link, also in the navigation, allows you to earn easy ICs and help the VE community at the same time

Well done Mellainius. The day by day update may get tiresome for you in the long run.
Here's a page of example reports: Examples
We'll work on getting you placed over the next day or so. In the meantime, feel free to work on your Aviator's Exam. It will likely be the source of your first rank promotion in the Navy.

Once again, congratulations on completing basic training. You've been placed as Nazgul 8 as a member of Nazgul Squadron. I encourage you to visit the main Navy ComNet and say hello in their squadron topic. Trevor Evenson is your Squadron Commander and should be able to point you to what you can do. I also encourage you to find your way on IRC if you can. You will find it a much easier way to communicate with fellow squadron members as well as members of the Navy (and entire VE) as a whole.
