Hello everyone.

Right, as Shazam mentioned in the meeting, I am here to put foreword the debate about Pilot Proficiencies and Specialties.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Proficiencies

Every should know something about the Proficiencies, especially the newer recruits, as you all would have had to put that stats sheet on the bottom of you’re wiki profile page.

What are they? Well in the words of the Shazam himself, they are simply a “stats on paper” section of the VE experience, a self-identifying mark to show where you stand in relation to you’re comrades. As Shazam put it, “On a scale from 1-4, how good are you with a blaster?”.

And that’s about the extent it goes. It wasn’t meant to really impact on the stories anyway, otherwise you’re characters would be too controlled.

So the question is, as far as proficiencies go; do you still want them? Are they useful?

Personally, I think they do not need to be there, or if they are wanted, they could be simplified, rather then have that big, scary, not to mention slightly confusing score sheet. That’s not to say I think the score sheet sucks, but I simply think it is uncalled for at this time.

I leave the floor open to you guys now regarding proficiencies.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Specialties & Skills

This is something that possible the slightly more advanced members would know, since you can only start them once you have taken you’re Senior Aviators Exam.

Just like the Army version, Specialties & Skills allow pilots to pick up extra relevant talents, to further augment their characters and story writing.

Examples are Medics, Mechanics, Survalists etc…

It is also possible to pick up skills in Intelligence areas as well.

These I think are much more worthwhile and interesting, and if implemented properly, could keep things interesting. For someone like me, promotion will now be harder to achieve, and ill have to wait for better positions to open up, so apart from my squadron run ons, what can I do?

I think this is where Specialties and skills come in. It would keep me occupied, keep things interesting, and help with my writing.

I have already thought of an idea of how to implement it, but for the moment I will open the floor to you guys, see what you think.

-------------------------------------------------------

So those are debates, the floor is open. Let her rip guys lol

Not sure which catagory this falls under.

Now the controls on one TIE version are supposed to be the same as any other. But it really would take more to fly a Defender over a regular Tie fighter.

What about type ratings for pilots of the craft they are rated/certified to fly?

Let me make a distinction then, because I was going to say that there is significant merit to the Proficiencies section, especially the one on flying.  Right now we have very specific areas that you're allowed to allocate points to- I'm thinking we might limit the points, but only so everyone isn't a total expert: we'll leave it in the hands of the recruits to try and keep themselves modest, lol.  Anywho- Rogue is correct: a TIE Defender is different than most TIE models.  Note that TIE controls are consistent throughout most craft- not all.  While some of the interfaces are probably similar, like the ejection cord is still at the front end between the legs, and the displays of red lights illuminating the interior might mean the same things, perhaps a different yoke is used that requires greater skill?  Well maybe this actually turns into a question of revamping our proficiencies- instead of are you a better attacker, defender or librarian- maybe we should put down qualifications?  "Proficient in flying standard TIE class fighters (fighter, interceptor, bomber, etc)."  And then another option that says- "Proficient in flying espionage aircraft (hunter, etc)."  And then yet another for specific types of ships like the gunboat and missile boat, or as Rogue mentioned, the TIE Defender.  With those qualifications we can actually render very specific missions- espionage missions for instance- that would tie in very well with the espionage skills and studies, yes?  I'm not saying we should build groups based off of these because you don't want to use these skills all of the time, but having the abilities and qualifications does have merit.

Well from me seeing the sheet or what ever it is, i think it could be added with more stuff, i mean their are alot of things that you could add to it. Right now i can't think of anything. Also i disagree with you Ibram i think that this system should be restarted because you could track you progress and find what you have to improve. So on down time you could go to the weapons range and improve you proficency. But i think it does not have to be as complacateded like a D and D sheet, but it could use some more stuff. And for postions they usally chose the most qulified person for it which i am guessing is why they can up will this system. I mean it doesn't have to have like 500 thiangs on it just enough for you to develope your character on.
