World War III

I felt the familiar pain and smell of singeing skin as a laser beam from the enemy came to close. My gun was at my side like an old friend and the Germans were firing at us like mad, we were pined down.
Lasers keep on flying around us and it looked like we were doing a sacred Indian dance. Then the Germans took time to reload and I used this opportunity to unclip my gun from my side then fired. The man in front went down then the second and everyone from my battalion fired to and the Germans were stunned and didn’t start moving until at least twenty-five of there men got shot.
As the Germans retreated I looked towards the ground then I noticed all the bodies. There were steady streams of scarlet liquid still issuing from there mouth that stained the ground. Then I saw it, about ten bombing planes heading right straight towards us and right then I knew it was all over for me and the rest.
I heard the faint ‘clank’ of the bomb being released from the metal harnesses and the dull whistle of the bomb as it hurtled though the air right towards us and then the ‘crack’ of the metal plates peeling away to revel the hundreds of tiny bomblets. As the bomblets sped towards us we all said are last good-byes and prayers ‘BOOM.’
I felt a warm, soft, and silky pillow beneath my head and a fluffy bed under my body. I thought I must be in heaven, I didn’t want to open my eyes. But someone started shaking my body I opened my eyes to find Christina standing over me, I have always had a deep burning love for her. “Hello Cristina”I said “aren’t you beautiful today” “keep it up it won’t work”she said “why do you have to always rain on my parade?” I asked and she replied “because its fun” “well that isn’t very nice” I retorted. Christina left the room with a red face and I thought she was angry especially after she threw my lunch at me.
I was cleared for release after three days in which I had to endure highly painful treatments where they had to extract about fifty shards of metal that the spread bombs bomblets released when they hit the ground. A lot of people thought I would be happy after I was released but I wasn’t. My mind was not with me it was in fact back three days at the encounter I have been dwelling on for these three days that have been making me think I have lost my one and only chance with the woman I have held a secret burning love for, Christina.
The army called me back into service after a few days with my mom and dad which I was glade they did because they keep on telling me that I should resign from the army after what happened. When I got back my friend Jack waiting my return and he automatically started talking.
“Hey how are you?” he asked “I’m fine” I replied then there was a long silence and Jake broke it “did you know you’ve been moved to my battalion-”“that would be my battalion private” then I turned around to find a man I have never saw before “I am your Sargent private and you will only call me by Sargent ok private” he said clearly addressing me “yes sir” I relied “WHAT DID I JUST SAY PRIVATE” he yelled at me “to call you only by Sargent Sargent ” I recited accurately “good job private” he said his voice returning to it’s natural level. “That was awkward” I said to Jack “well he is a bit tough.”
The day after I got back my battalion got called in to action. “Today we will be trying to shut down the Germans main weapons factory” said Sargent “we will assault in four groups, one will come from the northwest and the south, the other two will come from the east and west” then the soldiers rang out “yes Sargent.”
I was in the group that came from the east it was a long and tiring walk but then about an hour after we started I saw the smokestacks and they were emitting smoke that were rising in spirals in to the sky. Twenty minutes later we were at the front gate. Jack was planting the explosives on weak points of the gate then we heard a sound awfully like a gun shot.
I felt an awful pain were my heart was and smelt something like burning clothes. I looked down at my body and found my clothes on fire and a hole where the laser hit I could feel all the breath going from me and it all went black
