Well I'm afraid I must make it official that I am leaving the Vast Empire and Eclipse Squad after this post. I have trouble logging on and having fun in the RPG, and so instead of forcing myself to continue, I'm just going to quit.
I had some fun, don't get me wrong, but I can't get into it, and the whole point of an RPG is to have fun. Everyone knows that, and if someone isn't having fun, they need to evaluate if they want to continue to be a part of the game. I myself have chosen to leave.
It's not because of any of the players, and it's not the RPG itself that gets at me, it's just I've spent almost 7 years playing chat-based RPGs and lighter forum RPGs, and Vast Empire prefers a longer, more structured form that I don't have the time or patience to constantly put.
Some of the features of the RP are neat, especially the virtual economy, but they also make navigation difficult and confusing, especially with someone who has trouble seeing like I do. Even with lower-resolution screens and large-type, my eyes hurt reading the long posts everyone writes. Right now I have to shut my eyes and type just to keep from hurting.
So please don't take this the wrong way, and please don't pester me to stay. I've made up my mind and I'm pretty sure this is the best for everyone. Have fun doing whatever it is you decide to do, and I'll go back to my RPGs.
