Howdy there- I'm the training officer (TO) of the Vast Empire Naval Academy (VENA).  Our staff, the VENA-S, is composed of trainers and operators, all who can be seen at the following website:

http://www.vastempire.com/wiki/index.php?title=VENA_Staff

Now that you've posted here on the ComNet, you've actually completed the Imperial Initiation (II) phase of Basic Traing (BT).  BT's second phase is called Flight School (FS), which is made up of three chapters and an exam.  The first chapter, and probably the most important aspect of our system, is that of Character Creation- the bio.  In order for your character to exist in our club, our universe if you will, you need to create them in written form, detailing their stories, their personalities and the physcial aspects that we may be aware of with a glance or perhaps things we can not see with the naked eye.  Either way, you're going to tell us how to describe you're character in a more detailed fashion than you're probably used to, but that's part of the fun

So, if you'll follow the link below, you'll be able to see the entirety of Flight School, the portion of BT I was referring to above.  BT is, essentially, training and thus, once you've passed through it, you're going to be placed in an Active Squadron, in 'Active Duty'.  So, depending on how well you do here against the recruits currently training here, you'll receive a rank at the end of your training and receive certain recommendations or promotions.  You'll want to go to Chapter 1- Character Development.  So, lets get off to a good start and get you goin- Rock On!

                                        BIO

Full Name: Valin Dane
Callsign: Valin
Age:18
Home world: Doldur
Appearance: Valin has dark blond hair, and he usually styles it into something known as a "Fo-Hawk."He has Sea-Green eyes, with yellow tints surrounding the pupil. He stands five feet, nine inches tall, and  has the physical build of a swimmer. He weighs 145 lbs.
Personality: Valin is an easy person to talk to, but that doesn't mean he is easy to get to know. After what happened to his family, he has trouble letting people into what he calls his "red zone." He doesn't want to be hurt like last time, so he tries not to get to emotionally attached to people. He knows this is a dog eat dog universe, and that anything can happen. Backstabbing is a common thing, and he reminds himself of that every day. He is also not afraid to risk his life for a "true" friend, and only does what's right.

History

Valin was born on the quiet planet of Doldur, which was home to a series of Rebel bases scattered through out the planet. It was an ideal place to live for any civilian, pilot, or soldier. The conditions were perfect,  and the atmosphere was great for a growing child. His father, Kyp, was also a Rebel Fighter Pilot and commanded his very own Squadron. Valin's dad's side of the family had a strong line of Pilots, and Valin was going to continue this line, and hopefully one day make it into the famous Rogue Squadron.

Due to the fact that his father was a pilot, he and his mother lived in a Rebel base. This was a great environment for Valin to grow up in, and would definitely increase his influence to become another Rebel Fighter Pilot.

Most of the time for Valin, it was just he and his mother. His father was constantly going on missions to help bring the Empires reign to a halt. When his father came back from these long and grueling missions, he would always bring back some kind of gift or souvenir from planets all around the galaxy.

Valin lived like this until the age of eight. This was when he started to study the mechanics and schematics of different kinds of ships. His first goal into becoming a fighter pilot was to become a tech at the age of fifteen. Things were definitely going well for him, and he could easily attain this goal at the age of ten. His knowledge was far more advanced for that of an eight year old, and his mother and father took quick notice of this.

At the age of ten he was awarded a Speeder Bike for doing well in school, and helping his father solve problems that even he didn't know how to solve. He was a natural mechanic, but would he be the same way at the controls of a ship? This was the time to find out. As soon as his father let him hop onto that Speeder Bike, he was off. Everyday he would ride the speeder bike around the base, often showing off and doing many dangerous things.

He was a speedaholic, and lived for the rush of adrenaline. His father was proud of his son, and at the age of fifteen, rewarded him with his very own Air Speeder. This was the next step into becoming a Fighter Pilot. By himself, and with a little help from his father, he learned the whats and what not to do's when in orbit.

At the age of sixteen, Valin was soon rewarded with something that he would remember for the rest of his life. His dad was going to let him pilot an X-Wing. After all those years, Valin was finally going to be able to pilot an X-Wing. His dad was amazed at the boy's skills, and new that he would definitely get somewhere in the Rebel Navy.

But Valin didn't know what it was really like. He didn't know what happened behind the scenes, and was going to soon find out. His dad was being accused of treason, for a reason that not even he new. But he didn't tell Valin or his wife this, he didn't want them to think of him as an Imperial Spy, because he was definitely not that at all.

The problem began to escalate, and when Valin turned eighteen all hell was let loose. Kyp had decided that it was time to go on vacation, but what he was really doing was taking off to another system. He was going to leave this place behind, and when they arrived to there new home, he would tell Valin and his wife. Unfortunately he never got to tell them what happened.

As they were exiting the planet, a squadron of X-Wings surrounded the ship. Red lights and indicators started to go off within the freighter signaling that they were about to be fired upon. In a last attempt to save Valin and his wife, Kyp sent them into an escape pod. Just as the doors closed, an explosion shook the hull, and the next thing Valin saw, was his father being consumed by flames. The doors of the pod shut just before the flames reached it, and they were soon jetted off into space.

About an hour or two later, they were found by Imperials and hurried off onto a station. Valin also found a data card  stored in his pocket, and opened it with his mother. It was a holo-vid explaining what had happened. Valin then new what he had to do, and within seconds made his decision to join the Vast Imperial Navy.

Alright, welcome to the Vast Empire Navy.  I'm the Vast Empire Naval Academy Training Executive officer, Jaden.

Valin, your bio is very interesting.  Those things about your father and your character's background will give you a lot to write about during Character development.  This hair style, show me a picture of it, I bet it looks pretty cool.

Your bio checks out, you can move onto chapter two of the training.  When you have a full understanding of those tactics and manuevers, post them here so we may grade them.

After finishing that, we'll move you into a fully active squadron, and from there your begin your Career as a Vast Empire Naval Pilot.

There are many ways to go from there.  You can take a look around the comnet here on the Vast Empire Navy and look at all of the new Pilot Proficiencies we have just established, and figure out where you want to take your pilot from there.

Keep up the good work Pilot.

Defensive and Offensive Maneuvers

Barrel Roll: The Barrel Roll is Valin's favorite defensive maneuver. It was also the first move he learned, and his best.

To initiate a Barrel Roll, you must roll slightly (Any direction you wish) and start to apply pitch. If you want to complete a more efficient Barrel Role, you can increase the angle of the roll, and spin the opposite way. This will create more drag, and you will slow down faster. It will also most likely put you out of your enemy's firing reticule, or make your enemy over pass you.

Barrel Rolls are helpful when your having a tough time shaking off your enemy. Your timing must be perfect how ever, and if not, it could be the last move you ever make.

High Speed Yo-Yo: This happens to be one of Valin's least favorite moves. Valin has a habit of sometimes gaining to much ground on his enemy, which will then result in him over shooting his enemy. Also due to the fact that he loves flying fast, he tends to lose shot opportunity's on his enemy's, and often approaches them at weird angles. This move is to help fix those bad tenancy's of his, and does often help.

To initiate a High Speed Yo-Yo, you must first wait for your enemy to make a break turn or something of the sort. When he initiates the turn, you must turn inside of his turn, and then quickly pull up into a sharp climb. Invert your fighter, and then apply pitch to get your enemy inside the firing reticule. The only thing you really sacrifice from this move is a bit of gain on your enemy, and if you know how to make the right moves, you'll be even closer then before, and with deadlier accuracy

This move is helpful when your having trouble getting good shots off at your enemy. It usually brings the enemy within the sights of your guns, which then allows you to blast them into bits.

Sorry bout that- was in the process of replying to you yesterday and we got hit by a thunderstorm- had to shut the computer down.

Anywho: it appears you have a good understanding of what it is you're talking about and I hereby pass you out of BT.  You'll want to create a profile on the Vast Empire Wiki- you can figure out how to do that yourself by jumping on to IRC or asking someone politely- whether it be one of our staff or someone in your squadron, hows ta do it.  Speaking of which, you've been assigned to Nazgul Squadron as per special request from your Commanding Officer- Trevor Evenson.  Usually I don't do the 'dibs' thing, but you two supposedly know eachother, and I think that helps to keep people in, so- congratulations.

You'll need to complete your Aviator's Exam in the first week out of Training if you intend to stay though- you'll be reporting to Tomas, your flight lead as well as the XO (Aletheia) and your SC, as was mentioned.  Again- congrats: and welcome to the Vast Empire Navy.
