IRC problems

Im having a lot of trouble with IRC:

1) If i connect it might not last for long.
2)if i do get disconnected i have a very hard time reconnecting and sometimes i cant.
3)sometimes its perfect!

Please help

I know you might think that this is a stupid question, but have you tried rebooting your PC?
