Well, squad while we're waiting I think it's time to do some actual squad work. So, what I want from you is a squad and squad leader evaluation. It's not going to be anything too big, I just want you to tell me what you think of your squad members and how they're doing. And I also want you to tell me what you think of me and how I'm doing with my job. These can be sent by PM.

I also want a few suggestions on not only how the squad can be better, but how I can be a better SL. Those can go here on the squad channel. That way we can make this squad a lot better and I can do a better job.

Along the lines of what Zippy is saying, when someone new is placed in the squad during a story someone should give them a run down of what's happened thus far in the story. I know they should read it, and they probably will, but making your first post in a story is daunting so the more confident we can make them that they know what they need to know the more excited they will be.

aye, ditto, I would also love to see more rapid story progression, not just the usual fight fight fight, but more details on our surroundings, our objectives,(Like you said skar) person based objectives, not ones that would derail the story, and send each of us in separate directions, since after all we are a squad.

On the topic of new guys, no matter if they are new guys or returning vets that have been away for an extended period of time - equal consideration should be taken in both cases. if a vet has been gone for say...A year, he/she may remember some of what's supposed to happen in terms of reports, knowing faces, but it's nice to know if anyone knew is in charge, if there have been changes in positions or new posts added such as say...An extra slot for the DoD for example. While this may not seem like good information for a new Trainee to have in terms of usefulness at first, it is good to let them know anyway so that they know how to properly follow the Chain of Command.

I get a fair amount of Trainees asking me questions, usually general-knowledge and sometimes about a specific squad and I obviously can't answer all those because I know you all as a whole and am unfamiliar with most fine things comprising each specific squad  - I only have a basic understanding of each squad's function, troops, activity, etc. And while your SL in this case Skarr can answer all of that he does have a job to lead all of you so it's always nice to make new guys feel welcome, let them know how the squad functions, who they can talk to, assure them they can ask questions no matter how dumb or stupid it seems and if they have concerns, talk  to them about them and help them figure it out and inform your ASL/SL about it and have the new guy talk to them as well. I'm not asking you to babysit people or anything, I'm also not asking you to do your commander's job - all I'm saying is make them feel welcome, answer questions and be chatty! In my day in squad duty, no matter what position I was in whether it be Trooper, ASL or SL I always greeted new guys even on IRC and I do believe I kept a fair share of people either sane or kept them from quitting and to this day they still thank me for it. My thing was to send them ComNet PMs whenever they were in my squad or even if they weren't and I noticed they were having an extra hard time adjusting, I would kindly greet them, let them know who I was briefly and tell them that if they had questions or anything no matter how silly to ask away and that I would answer to the best of my abilities.

Now that that's done..My apologies for jumping in on this Skarr but I felt I needed to say my piece on the training bit and all that good stuff.

Whilst I'm not active in the squad at the moment, I think you should bring back the weekly reports. The story info added to the report can be helpful for a quick check of the current situation.
