Ender, born on Commenor, joined the Empire at age 20 in the name of bringing order to the galaxy. Having witnessed the deaths of his parents and his siblings at the hands of rebels he vowed to have vengeance. With no loyalties remaining to anyone or anything but the Empire he quickly became a die-hard believer in all imperial doctrine. Upon joining the Empire he proved to be advanced it strategy, tactics, and a great variety of other skills which would aid him in rising through the ranks. While in transit to the Imperial Navy Academy the vessel he was aboard was laid siege to by rebels at the exact time in which the transport took engine damage from an unknown source. Apparently believeing the vessel an easy capture the rebels boarded the ship and  began to systematically overrun the defenders. As the situation unfolded and a stalemate seemed to set in Ender encountered the slayers of his family. Leading a small group of other recruits he engaged the rebel invaders in a corridor battle and led the squad to victory. Upon reviewing the corpses he got his confirmation that they were in fact the same rebels that had killed his family by taking note of distinguishing markings such as tatoos and name/rank data found on the bodies. The battle was won when the transports distress signal was answered by nearby imperial vessels and the remaining rebels were captured and imprisoned. With ship repairs complete the vessel along with an escort resumed course for the Imperial Navy Academy. Ender currently resides there undergoing training, with the rank of Crewman.

Victory becomes, to some degree, a state of mind. Knowing ourselves superior to the anxieties, troubles, and worries which obsess us, we are superior to them.

Some good points Jaden.  Jaden, btw, is our TX here at the academy and is one of two trainers I suppose you could say.  I'm the TO (Training Officer) of the VENA and will do my best to help you along as well.

Comments on your bio: you seem to have an interesting motivation for joining the Vast Empire Navy.  Your character, rather than born and raised accustomed to VE morals, seemed to tap into the Imperial Way via the death of his parents.  As if you're character needed some guidance, he chose the VE because it seemed more powerful, with more technical and strategical prowess- perhaps it was the first group that you came across that directly opposed the NR troops who slew your parents and also seemed willing to take you're character in. 

So- those are what we call personality traits, or motives in this case.  Your character, desperate for some kind of help, directs his attention toward an Imperial based Faction.  Though the group is not the original Empire, they still bare a striking resemblence which your character likes- yes?  Also, most people were turned off of the original Empire by the way they treated their troops.  The distinct difference between the VEN and the original Empire is just that- pilots are allowed to have names, lead lives seperate than that of their government and just enjoy their jobs.  That, might be a great way to really call the attention of your chracter to the VEN.

I suppose I'm saying all these things because I want you to build a stronger reason for why you're charactrer joined and how- and also: how did your  parents die on that planet and why?  NR troops are not much for going out slaughtering people, so what happened?  Perhaps you're character didn't see what they thought they did.
