Let me be one of the first ppl to say that Lord of the Rings was  AWESOME!!!!!  Is definately the best fantasy type movie I have ever seen.  If you can handle it being a little over 2 hours and 45 minutes long, I would recommend seeing this movie as soon as you can...  I myself seen it today at 12:01 a.m. (hence why I'm here at work at 7 running off 2 hours of sleep ) and will be seeing it again tonight at 4:00 So...yeah....go see the movie, even if you know pratically nothing about the books (like myself) you'll find this very easy to fallow and the scenes are INCREDIBLE!!! So....go see it!!!!

Yes, i agree everybody should go see Lord of the Rings.  Its a really good movie and most of it is true to the book.  I enjoyed the movie very much even though i was looking up for about 3 hours and my neck hurts like crazy.

I'm going to have to agree with you three. I have read the books plenty of times (/me glares at sk8guy) and the movie was like a dream come true. I've heard a lot of criticism about it since I saw it last night with Riel and TwinFury. "They left THIS out, or they changed THIS, or so-and-so wasn't how I thought they would be, or blah-blah-blah." Come on, people! The movie was AWESOME! So, it was more predictable than the book. So, they brought a lot of the back story in to the first movie from later on. WHO CARES? I thought Peter Jackson did a tremendous job. Everything looked so REAL - I loved the Balrog. And, aside from Celeborn and Galadriel, I thought all the characters were portrayed quite nicely. Two thumbs up! I can't wait to see it again. And even more so, I can't wait to see The Twin Towers next year. Rock on, fellow brothers and sisters of Middle-Earth.

Hmm.  I thought the technical wizardry was a little over-rated by the critics.  Almost all the visuals were an animation of old Middle-Earth paintings from the '60s.  They were beautiful, true, but in a certain sense . . . plagiarized. Plus, Galadriel was not . . . Galadriel.  At one point, she was like . . . weird.  Totally out-of-character.  Cate Blanchett being a little too unattractive did not help either. And I think Peter Jackson confused Arwen with Xena: Warrior Princess.  He should have hired Lucy Lawless instead of Liv Tyler.  Perhaps then Arwen would not have look liked she had been beaten with an ugly stick.  Plus her runic incantations at the river were not in Tolkien's Elvish tongue which made no sense whatsoever. Other than Legolas needing his bushy eyebrows trimmed, the majority of Tolkien's poetry left unused and a few other minor problems, it was an intriguing "re-imagining."  I would say it was a mediocre adaption of the LotR novels, but a spectacular, stirring film in its own right.  Definitely a grade A+ motion picture worthy of seeing again. I plan to buy it when it hits video stores. ----------------------- His fate was destined to a foreign strand, A petty fortress and a "humble" hand; He left the name at which the world grew pale, To paint a moral, or adorn a tale. --- Johnson for Charles of Sweden

WEll, I HAVE to truthfully say I've never read the books...I have them and now plan on reading them. But I got to see it during the first showing in our area and I absolutely loved the movie...not to mention Frodo's good looks...maybe that's a shallow reason to like the movie, but that's only a small reason. I loved the visuals and I can't wait till the next one comes out...

I loved it, that is THE best movie I've EVER seen, and it was better the second time, and will probably be better the third, because i'm going to see it on the IMAX. That movie rocked the boat. I would've been an orc or one of the drunken men at Bree, just to be in it. I'd give it five million thumbs up, if I had 'em.
