Euceron
At fist glance, the planet looks peaceful and prosperous. On taking a closer look though: the planet's government, the "Ruling Power" works hard to ensure that the planet appears to be that way. The planet used to have one of the largest security forces in the galaxy. Since the clone wars, their numbers have diminished greatly. They still try their hardest to ensure security, despite their dwindling numbers. Due to the planet playing host to the Galactic Games (for the first time since the Clone Wars) their spacelanes were highly populated and required a heavy presence of spacelane officers. Most of their security team are being used to handle the traffic situations. Everyone is told where to land their craft in an attempt to aid the spacelane officers. The Ruling Power hoped that the signals would be obeyed and the officers would not have to step in.
After taking the turbolift down to the planet's surface, the most populated area in the city of Eusebus (Euceron City) was the main boulevard of Eusebus. The games would be held here not only to bring honor to the capital city, but because of the vast quantitiy of stadiums available. On the main boulevard, there are usually civillians and speeders throughout. With the Galactic Games about to begin, there are food stands setup along with souvenir stands to sell viewscreens as well on top of the various "junk" they have. Neon signs were also setup that pointed the way to the ten stadiums and give directions there. Swoop shops were also setup to make getting around the planet easier. Air taxis were not always available, so having a personal swoop on hand definately came in handy. Security was watching these shops very closely due to the high demand.
The Empire is extremely worried about the security of the games with their lack of security. Due to the vast quantity and variety of the beings on the planet, the peacefulness of the galaxy rested on how well the games went. There was always the chance of races being hostile towards one another, and if an incident did happen between the races, it would disrupt the quality of order in the Empire, which would make controlling the races slightly harder.
The Ruling Power
The system of government on Euceron is a group of 10 people called the "Ruling Power". The Ruling Power makes all the laws and decisions regaurding the planet without discussion. The heavy security rules are due to the Ruling Power's obsession with security. They feel they need the security officers to keep the planet's civillians under control. As if the power they have was not enough, the Ruling Power is constantly trying to get more. Their main approach at this was to try and get themselves on all the important galactic committees. Their goal in this was to make the planet appear stable, wether it was the truth or not. The way they ruled was to mold their civillians to the way they wanted. They were taught how to live and act. There wasn't much objection to this, as it was the only way they were taught to live.
The Galactic Games
The Galactic Games are an ancient tradition that date back to 80 years before The Battle of Naboo. Created in order to promote galactic peace through sport, the Games consisted of many different events featuring a wide range of activities, and were administered in such a way as to eliminate favoritism or unfair advantages. Betting on the Games, regardless of where they were held or how far away the bettor was, was illegal, in order to further enhance the fairness of the events. Many of the events were fast-paced, and some were dangerous. All were chosen for their appeal to the masses, in order to ensure that there was as much entertainment value as there was personal satisfaction among the athletes. The games were held every seven years on a different planet every time. The planetary systems competed to host the games, as it was a great honor to do so (and it brought in some big prophets). The games are run by a group of important people called the "Games Council". One member of the host planet's government was always on the council. No matter what planet the games are held on, an illegal podrace always manages to take place. Last time the games were on Euceron the race was held in the caves outside the city of Eusebus. This was discouraged, because it encouraged gambling: which has been made illegal for the galactic games. Every time the race is attempted to be sabotaged/stopped, but every time it is held anyways.
The Galactic Games are a five day event. Every event takes place in its own stadium, depending on the type of terrain or setup that was needed. On the first day the sole event is the Opening Rituals where the events are explained and some of the more popular contestants are introduced. Over the next three days, the various competitions and the podrace are held in their respective places. On the fifth and final day, the Closing Rituals are held to reflect on the past four days, and to award the special awards to deserving contestants. A list of the events and their description are listed below:
Day One
Opening Rituals - Stadium One
Day Two
Blaster Skill Event - Stadium Two
Contestants will be given their choice of special blaster pistols to compete with. All targets will be holograms, and the blasters are designed to interact with the holograms as if they were a real droid, creature, or being. Contestants will compete one at a time. The event is timed, and the winner will be decided based on their speed and effectiveness.
Krovatin - Stadium Three
Krovatin is a team sport in which teams attack each other with long poles. Damage is real in this event, no holograms.
Projectile Skill Contest - Stadium Four
Contestants will be given a supply of various projectiles and will need to use the projectiles to disarm all the holograms that the contest provides. Like the blaster event, the projectiles will be specially made to interact with the holograms. Contestants will compete one at a time, and the event is timed. The winner is decided based on their speed and effictiveness.
Day Three
Swoop Obstacle Race - Stadium Five
There are no holograms in this course, everything is real. The stadium is very large due to the racetrack nature of this event. All contestants race at once and must reach the finishline while avoiding the various obstacles in their way.
Non-Weapon Skill Contest - Stadium Six
Similar to the Blaster and Projectile events, this event will consist of holgrams that will be damaged by special weapons. Contestants will be given special Viroblades or Axes to compete with, and as before the event will be timed.
Bowcaster Skill Contest - Stadium Seven
Contestants will be given their choice of special bowcasters to compete with. All targets will be holograms, and the bowcasters are designed to interact with the holograms as if they were a real droid, creature, or being. Contestants will compete one at a time. The event is timed, and the winner will be decided based on their speed and effectiveness.
Day Four
Sparring - Stadium Eight
Contestants will spar without any weapon in groups of two. The winner from each round stays until they lose. The loser is disqualified and replaced. The winner is the last one remaining.
Holographic Obstacle Course - Stadium Nine
The highlight of the games. Random weapons will come up in the middle of the course that will damage both real things and holograms. The purpose of this is due to the fact that one of the holograms is real. It is different for each contestant, because they compete one at a time; if it was the same, the contestant would know which one(s) were real.
Podrace - Local Caves
Outside the capital city of Eusebus, there is a large cave that is shaped like a racetrack for podracers. This event is illegal, but very popular. The viewing stand is at the finish line, and the course is unknown to the podracers. They recieve a segment of the course in 3 minute intervals. The race must be watched on a viewscreen other than what can be seen from the finish line. Gambling does take place at this event, and the winner is decided then.
Closing Rituals - Stadium Ten
The closing rituals take time to reflect on the past four days. Contestants are also granted awards for best performance, most valuable contestant, and best effort. These are in addition to awarding the prizes for the eight events that took place.
Mission Information
We will be arriving on Euceron 4 days before the Opening Rituals, which means 3 days before the spectators arrive. The officers will be meeting with the Ruling Power to recieve a short briefing. When finish, we will all recieve uniforms and equipment and be shown to our quarters. Security personnel are lax on Euceron, so we will be there to ensure the stability of the galaxy.
After the briefing, we will set up a security plan for the time we are there. We'll be on Euceron for a period of 10 days at most, depending on how long it takes to get everyone off-planet. You guys are welcome to "sneak off" and sign up as a contestant before the opening rituals take place. Bear in mind that you cannot all sneak off, so please if you want to do something like this, approach me on it so we can still have the numbers that we need. You do not need to make a post that you signed up, but you'll need to show up for the event.
We will be undercover for this mission. Not all systems are friendly to the empire, and some radicals might try to start something if they see the empire patrolling around there. We are there to stop incidents, not start them. The Ruling Power suspects plans of sabotage, which isn't unusal seeing as what happened last time the games were held on Euceron.
On a side note, this story is going to tax your creative abilities. Each contest should have a minimum of 10 contestants (not all us) and each one needs to have a name. Usually once you do one event, that's it: so we'll need a lot of names. I don't want a bunch of "contestant 1 ran across the field" and such. The story should be up later tonite, let's have some fun guys!
As a hidden bonus! I've added a gaming competition to this story. It is the Galactic Games after all...Anyways all gaming platforms are supported, just play them and submit them. Prizes will be awarded! Just make sure they're reigstered with battleboard and they get e-mailed to me.
