Physical appearance:
Liana is a white Twi'lek with light blue swirls covering her lekku. She is tall and athletic and dresses in simple clothing - brown leather bindings for her lekku, a brown shirt, brown pants, and brown boots. Lithe and graceful, as is common of her people, Liana has a very soft way of stepping and of moving in general. When she walks, it seems as though she is dancing.

History:
Liana - whose birth name is Selene - grew up on the planet of Ryloth with her father and younger sister, the true Liana. Her mother had died some years before of natural causes. Her father, the revered G'yin, was a member of the Head Clan, along with his brother-in-law, L'nye and three others. Selene and Liana had a decent childhood, considering both their father and uncle were valued members of their clan. However, all went awry in the year of Selene's 17th birthday.
G'yin grew ill. Liana fretted over her father, yet Selene brushed her little sister's worries aside. Their father was the Great G'yin and no harm could befall him. Yet, to both girls' dismay, the illness persisted and their father slowly weakened until he could no longer rise in the mornings. The clan stirred and whispered and worried, and the other members of the Head Clan grew anxious. Everyone waited.
Finally, poor G'yin slowly slipped past the point of no return and in his dying breath, he made his brother-in-law vow to watch over Selene and Liana. The clan grieved for their loss and as was customary, the other four Head Clan members made to go into exile, allowing those who were younger than they to rise and take their places as the new Head Clan. The next morning, L'nye, his wife, their three children, Selene, and Liana, all left the clan and made towards the very boundary of the inhabitable strip of the planet. There, in a small cave, was where the family spent an entire year in exile, barely surviving and still grieving their loss.
That entire lonely year, Liana did not speak. In fact, she barely ate anything, preferring to give her rations to the youngest of her cousins. Selene fared only slightly better. She was the last to rise every morning and the last to slowly sink down into her pallet upon the floor of the cave. She trudged through every single day of that horrible year as though she was just waiting to die. In her mind, death would have been a sweet relief.
But that was before she knew that a fate much worse than death existed.
Slave traders weren't a very rare occurrence on the planet Ryloth. In fact, they were quite common. Yet, they weren't selling slaves to the Twi'leks. The Twi'leks were the slaves. Exiled as they were, the L'nye family thought that slave traders were the least of their problems. Shortly after that long and dreadful year, though, they learned that they had been very wrong indeed.
The Trandoshan struck hard and fast, and for the first time in an entire year, Liana made a sound. She screamed. The youngest of the cousins was killed in the scuffle. Despite this, the capture went over fairly smoothly. As was the way with the Twi'leks, the L'nye family didn't put up much of a fight.
Life aboard the ship was hard for everyone. Needless to say, the entire L'nye family seemed to lose hope within the week. L'nye was the first to be sold off at the planet of Arkania, where he would mine diamonds for the rest of his life. His wife and remaining two children barely noticed that he was gone. They all just gazed grimly towards the future, imagining the horrible fates that would befall them. The next stop was Tatooine. Selene's aunt and her now youngest cousin were sold off here, to do only the Goddess knew what. Selene, Liana, and the oldest cousin were the last remains of the L'nye family. Curious, Selene couldn't help but wonder where they would be sold. One of the Trandoshan that had been given care of the Twi'lek prisoners taunted her at least once a day, telling her, "We've got a special place for you."
There were a total of seven Trandoshan aboard the ship and Selene loathed them all. She hated the way they leered at her younger sister. She hated the way they walked. She hated the way they smelled. She hated everything about them. It was from this hate that grew a hardness Selene had never known before. She had to survive. No matter what happened, she would escape and she would take Liana with her.
That special place that the Trandoshan had spoken of turned out to be Nal Hutta, much to Selene's horror and disgust. They were each to be sold as dancers to the various slimy individuals who held power on the Hutt planet. Selene had overheard a conversation between two of the Trandoshan earlier that day. Both expected a very large sum for the sale of Liana and a moderate amount for Selene. As for the older cousin, neither of the Trandoshan had much faith in her ability to sell, considering she had taken ill the week before and her looks had fallen in result.
Each of the young Twi'leks were first dressed in . . . "appealing" clothing before being chained to their own individual Trandoshan keeper. They were then led out into the bright sunshine where they were paraded down the streets. Many of the residents seemed to take delight in their beautiful procession. Selene endured the stares and the whispers with a solemn face. She had a plan. The procession halted abruptly at the center of town, where the Trandoshan held a brief conference in their own language. Selene cast about with her knowledge of their tongue - which was very limited - trying to figure out what it was they planned. Their intent was soon realized, though, when the three keepers of the Twi'leks began to move off . . . in separate directions. Selene struggled against her chain as she called out to her sister. Docile and defeated, Liana turned her sad eyes towards her older sister, and in that moment, a message was passed between the two. Liana knew her sister was going to escape and Selene knew that Liana was not. Vowing to herself that she would come back for her little sister, Selene submitted to her Trandoshan keeper. She waited.
Their path took many turns, one of which carried them down a back alleyway. The Trandoshan given charge of Selene wanted to get to their destination as quickly as possible, so they took those deserted streets where they could avoid the congested traffic of the main streets. Selene had found her moment. Lunging, she wrapped the chains that bound her hands about the Trandoshan's neck, strangling the hated creature. Her pent-up rage gave her strength and with a few agonized twists and choking breaths, the Trandoshan lay dead at Selene's feet. She did not allow herself time for relieved tears. It did not take long to locate the key to free herself from the corpse. Then, once she had stolen his robe and the little currency he had had on his person, Selene was off into the busy streets of Nal Hutta, making for a ship. Any ship.
The robes were too long and so, Selene had to hold them up as she ran, hoping that she wouldn't be seen by one of the other Trandoshan that were lurking about. The farther she ran away from that wretched place, the more her heart seemed to break. In her mind's eye, she saw her dear Liana cowering before her new master as he cackled gleefully at her beauty and submissiveness. How could she leave her sister to such a life? Did she have no heart? A single tear rolled down her pale cheek as she fought to keep herself from turning back and doing something foolish. She would return and the next time she left this place, it would be with her sister in tow, no matter what it took.
Finding a ship was the easy part. Buying her way onto it wasn't as much so. Many were suspicious of a lone and beautiful Twi'lek wandering about Nal Hutta all by herself. Yet, finally, one pilot was convinced and with the small currency she had stolen from the Trandoshan, Selene bought her escape. Cowering into a corner of the ship, trying to avoid the curious stares of those crew onboard, Selene made many vows to herself:
1) She would never be submissive ever again.
2) She would find someway to save up enough money to free her sister.
3) She would never trust a Trandoshan.
4) She would never return to her home planet of Ryloth.
5) She would never give up hope.
The man who had allowed Selene a ride on his ship turned out to be very kind, despite his suspicious dealings with the Hutts. When he asked for her name, in her quiet distress, Selene told him "Liana" by mistake. The name stuck. It was this man who convinced her to become a pilot in the Navy. Selene, or the new Liana, thought the idea was wonderful. She could save up enough money to buy her sister and she would have some way of protecting herself. Surely if she was a part of the Navy, a slave trader would never bother her ever again? It was this hope that gave her strength enough to enlist and to persevere, even when the "going got tough."

Personality:
Liana is very aloof by nature, giving many the impression that she is shy. She rarely speaks, preferring only to open her mouth when she has something worthwhile to say. A great listener, Liana tries to find a hidden meaning in the simplest of exchanges. She hates to be alone for more than a few moments, yet she has never expressed this fear aloud. Considering the fact that she never gets attached to any one individual, she doesn't have any close friends. A mystery to all of those around her, she has never offered any information about herself other than her name, Liana. Cold and sad, Liana is a block of ice that wants to melt, but doesn't know how. Liana also has a tendency to be very unpredictable. Of course, this could be on account that no one knows her true mind, therefore making it difficult to guess what she will do next.
Dislikes:
- Trandoshan
- Overly confident people
- Men who have a tendency to stare
- Revealing clothing
- Slave traders in general
- Hutts
Likes:
- Music
- Quiet company
- Dancing (never in public)
- Flying
- Spicy food
----------------------------------------------------------
Pilot Personality:
Liana is unpredictable in all things, flying being no exception. Having little to no confidence in her abilities, Liana also has an annoying tendency to hesitate, even when action is crucial to the moment. Oddly enough, Liana does work well under pressure, though. She also remains calm, even in the most frantic of situations. With the mindset of "no man left behind," Liana will also put herself in a dangerous situation in order to save one of her fellow comrades.
