  Bio for Tensha~a new recruit
March 30, 2006 3:48:37 AM    View the profile of Tensha Swadow
Bio
Name: Tensha Swadow
Call sign: Tensha Swadow
Race: Twi'lek
Age: 24
Height: 1.6 meters
Skin colour: deep red
Eye colour: dark green
Place of birth: Ryloth

Physical Features: Long scar horizontal across her upper back from a whip, that her old master gave to her. Tensha has a slim athletic body, and a pretty face

History:
Tensha was born to a poor family on the Twi'lek home world of Ryloth on the continent of Haxiang. Tensha, unlike other female Twil'lek's had a very inquisitive mind, and an endless fascination with inter-galactic planes, and star fighters. Often she would dream of joining the Imperial Navy, as she had been brought up to be loyal to the Republic, as her father would often deal with slave traders from the Empire. Like all female Twi'lek's, she is a skilled dancer, and it was because of this she was sold into slavery, to a upper-class business owner, on Courscant. Tensha's owner was harsh and cruel, so cruel that one day (after she had been in his house for 2 years) she stole a knife from the kitchen, and while she was dancing for him, she lunged, and slit his throat.
Tensha, using her skills escaped from his house, and set off across Courscant, free to follow her dream of joining the Imperial Navy.

Tensha has a quiet personality, but is not to be underestimated, as she is courageous and fearless in all situations. She is merciless and will do whatever it takes to survive in a situation; this is because of her harsh upbringing, and her time spent as a slave. Tensha will only ever help those who have shown her kindness in some form or another, as not many people in her life have been kind to her, and she treasures her friends greatly.

Tensha is extraordinarily loyal to the Empire, and is proud to be serving in the Imperial Navy. She will do anything it takes to ensure that the Navy is victorious.

Yea, its fine if you're a Twi'lek because they do posess the abilities and intelligence to fly fighters (and in some cases to weild 'the force'), but just make sure you understand the twilek and all their aspects before you go writing about them.  I suggest you look them up on google for some kind of database with some extra explanation although it looks like you've managed to get plenty of information on them already.

Now- I'm the officer of training and thus- you're trainer.  You need to go to the link below to view chapter 1 which is about character developement- basically you're bio.

http://www.vastempire.com/wiki/index.php?title=Flight_School_%28FS%29

I just want you to look over that after you read this-

I thought your bio was pretty interesting actually and leads into a part of the SW universe that is kind of fascinating- people change their stars.  They go from low down, ruddy prisoners to some of the most important people ever- this goes for real life as well.

Now, for your bio, I couldn't entirelly understand the part where you were talking about how your father dealt with slave dealers or somethin...  So- starting from the beginning, you were enslaved on your planet, by your father to someone else?  I think that part is what really needs to be worked on- the rest is pretty good though.

Also- how does your character act around other people, since its very important that the people in your squadron will know this because they'll will be posting about you.  Think of this as if you were telling your wingman exactly how to explain you- history is nice, but it only leads to conclusions- we need previews...  Is she happy or sad because of her life thus far??  Happy because how its turned?  Why?  Whats her favorite thing to do out of slavery?  What does she hate?  The ways she ties her shoes- is it signifigant?  Was it the last thing her father taught her or something...  Do you see where I'm going or have I just managed to confuse you?

After you have reposted your bio, and I've agreed that it is in tip-top shape, you can move on to the next part of training- chapter 2 of that link I just gave you.

Any questions comments or concerns, just let me know- we'll be glad to help.

Welcome to the Vast Empire Navy.

(I'll continue this later)

Thankyou for all of your help, and usefull comments.

It's ok demion, I've already found some good information on Twi'leks, but thanks for offering!

Here is my new and improved bio:

Bio
Name: Tensha Swadow
Call sign: Tensha Swadow
Race: Twi'lek
Age: 24
Height: 1.6 meters
Skin colour: deep red
Eye colour: dark green
Place of birth: Ryloth

Physical Features: Long scar horizontal across her upper back from a whip that her old master gave to her.

Often she would dream of joining the Imperial Navy, as she had been brought up to be loyal to the Empire, as her father would often deal with slave traders from the Empire. Like all female Twi'lek's, she is a skilled dancer, and it was because of this that she like most other female Twi'leks was sold into slavery by her father, who desperately needed the money, to a upper-class business owner, on Courscant. Tensha's owner was harsh and cruel.
Through her slavery, Tensha's only joy in life was star fighters, and she would often create models, of them and steal books from her master, showing the various models and technical information about them.
Her master was so cruel that one day (after she had been in his house for 2 years) she stole a knife from the kitchen, and while she was dancing for him, she lunged, and slit his throat.
Tensha, using her skills escaped from his house, and set off across Courscant, free to follow her dream of joining the Imperial Navy.

Though Tensha was unhappy with being sold into slavery, she understands why her father did it, and does not resent him too much because of this. Despite this she is extremely happy that she was able to follow her dream of joining the Imperial Navy, and is glad that she will be able to see many places in the Universe. Tensha despises all slavers, and people who own slaves, thanks to her own treatment as a slave, one of her goals in life is to abolish the slave trade in the Universe once and for all. Tensha is in a way glad, that her time in slavery taught her many valuable lessons on life and helped her realise her dream of becoming a pilot.

She will always do anything she can to help her friends. Tensha often finds it difficult when she is around people, and can have a hard time trusting everyone that she meets. She can often seem, quite abrupt and rude to people, though she does not do this intentionally, it is just the way she is. Tensha is often a quiet person, who hardly engages another person in conversation, instead she normally only speaks when spoken to. Despite this she is a passionate and intensely loyal person, who feels that she always has to prove herself to other people, including herself. Tensha will never give anything less then her best in everything that she does. Tensha will always conceal her emotions, and thoughts, and will never let anyone know what she is thinking, or when she is in pain. This is due to her time in slavery and her experience that if someone knows what you are thinking or feeling, it is only to easy for them to take advantage of you.

Tensha is extraordinarily loyal to the Empire, and is proud to be serving in the Imperial Navy. She will do anything it takes to ensure that the Navy is victorious.

Intriguing- I do like that bio and I think thats about as good as your going to get it for now so I only have one comment and that is- try not to be redundant.  I'm sure I used to do the same thing at one point in my writing, but when you use the same style over and over again or you consistnantly mention the fact 'because she was a slave', that's what I refer to as redundant.  Once its said, theres no need for constant reminder, but I think you'll fall into the groove once you're posting in a squadron.  Very nice, though- I liked that.

For your next bit of training you need to procede to "Pilot's Procedure' located below.  There you will be taken through some pages about flight manuevers and tactics as well as a short tuturial on the TIE Interceptor and its functions so you'll be able to post about it in the future.  its some light reading, nothing to heavy, but there will be a short assignment so it'll force you to go back once or twice to ensure you understand some substantial information so you'll really be ready to post.  If you have any questions or problems, just let me know and I, or someone else, will be sure to help you right away.

As always, remember to post your assignement in this thread so I will actually be able to view it.  I look forward to your answers; the best to you.

I'm so sorry that its taken me so long to do this!!!!
Its just that these past few weeks have been a really busy time of year for me, and I just haven't had time to complete my assignment.

Well here it is,  my long awaited assignment!

Assignment

The Break Turn

The break turn is one of the first maneuvers new pilots will use and it is a very simple basic flight maneuver that allows you to turn a lot sharper then usual. To achieve a break turn, you turn sideways and pitch very sharply, so that the spacecraft is forced to turn at a sharper angle.
The break turn can either be used offensively or defensively depending on your situation. Offensively, it can be used to acquire a target. For example if an enemy plane is situated far off to the left or right, then you can use a break turn to place yourself in a position to shoot them down, giving them almost no warning. Defensively, the break turn can be used to throw enemy fighters off your tail in order to prevent them from shooting you down. Likewise it can also be used to avoid missiles or objects. These are only suggestions of how the break turn can be used, as depending on your situation this maneuver can be used in a wide variety of ways.

Very good, but Gunnay is correct- you need one more manuever.  As for your time and how busy you are- don't worry about it.  Get this done when you can but make sure you are ready to be active when you are placed into a squadron- we simply ask you are certain of that.  Once you are done with that next manuever, go on ahead and move to the final chapter- "The Squadron."  Read through it breifly and then click on "The Post"- read the direction and make two story post with the information and story line provided.  Make sure that you put those post in here or we may never see them   After you have posted both of those, make sure you read through "The Squadron"- a link within that chapter summary.  That just runs you through basic protocol and allows you to better understand what you'll be doing when you enter a squadron.

http://www.vastempire.com/wiki/index.php?title=Flight_School

As I've said above, take your time and try to enjoy yourself- just make sure you are ready when you decide to join a squadron.  Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve; keep rockin.

Oops, sorry about that...

Here is the second half of my assignment:

The Immelman

The Immelman is a more complex maneuver then the Break Turn and is learned after more simple moves have been executed. The Immelman is a high-thrust maneuver increases the altitude of the aircraft and reverses its direction and changes its bearing. It is more useful for aircraft that have low thrust capabilities.
The Immelman has no set offensive or defensive situations in which to use it, so has an endless variety of uses and combinations, limited only to your imagination, surroundings and skill.
To perform the Immelman you pitch the nose of the aircraft up vertically and climb, executing half of a loop. When the aircraft has reached the desired height you invert and execute a roll. The direction in which you want to travel after you come out of this maneuver depends on the amount of roll that is applied. You are now flying in a different direction, and at a different altitude.  When your wings are level execute a half roll to be in a vertical position.
High thrust aircraft can extend this maneuver by climbing vertically and then executing an aileron roll for the half loop.

Excellent- you can continue on to the third and final chapter of our training program by going to "The Squadron."  You can find it by following the link above as always and you'll need to read through it pretty thoroughly or you may have problems- make sure to put both post here if you want us to see them   The best to you- I can't wait to see your writing.  Rock On.
