James walked slowly up the Flight Simulater ship, it was just like the ones you would see in the millitary but the limbs of the ships were missing and there were wires and ropes attached to it.

"Are you ready?" The Drill Intructor appeared out of the corner of the room carrying a pilot helmet, he tossed it to James.

James caught it."Now if anything goes wrong you shout." He informed, James nodded nervously and put on the helmet.
He reached up and lifted himself into the cockpit, this was all so real and new to James. The controls and buttons he had never seen before but had read in the manual, he wasen't sure if he could really do this.

"Yes sir" He said, gripping on to the flight stick.

All of the sudden there was a loud beep and he saw space, space with stars and planets around that he had never seen before etheir. James was amazed at this, but he kept his hands gripped tightly on the stick, he gazed out the side windows of the ship at this virtual deep space.

"Now you know what to do.." The Drill intructer said from somewhere to James right, he could not see him. The helmet was designed to show the pilot space and everything you should see once your really out there. James pressed some buttons nervously, he was worried somthing bad might happened if he pressed the wrong one; flight simulation or not.

There was a flash of light as a beam shot and nearly missed the ship to the left. The ship tilted slightly to the right and James quickly balanced it by pressing a few buttons and turning the stick, he was pretty good at this considering reading the manual about five hundred times ever week.

"Engage and attack, private" The drill instructor said in a formal voice.

James reared the ship to the right and caught site of the enemy, he picked up speed and was heading toward it while it shot missiles and all sorts at him, James contunied to swing to the left and right dodging the attacks. Once he was close enough he would launch a warhead at it, he pressed the engage button on the warhead but as he did so there was a flash of light before his left wing had exploded.

James smashed into the right window heavily, he was panting heavily. He pressed the red button and a missile shot from his ship and at the enemy, it hit directly and caused a large amount of light and a boom with it, he had flown in too close and the scraps and peices hit James's ship.

"Dammit!" He cried and a large piece hit his right wing and damanging it.

The ship flew off and starting spinning rapidly, James closed his eyes and gripped tightly on the flight stick. 'I can't do this!" he cried though gritted teeth as the ship sweered around and around, it felt like some type of roller choaster ride.

"That's enough" He heard the drilll intructer's voice, he opened his eyes and saw he was back in the room. "You will require more training." James stepped out of the cockpit, his hair stuck to his forehead by sweat and was still panting heavily. He turned and looked at the drill intructer before he said

"Come back next week when your ready, private" He said sternly, exaiming James's sweat. He turned on his heels(which was pretty impresive considering his Drill uniform) and marched off out of the door. James stood there for a momment, catching his breath.

"Dammit!" he repeated one more time, before turning himself and walking off back to the showers.

To be Contunied...
OOC: This is my first ever story so it would have many grammer and spelling mistakes.

A Few Days Later After The Simulations Flight

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

James took a deep breath and walked into the large room, there were many long silver tables or benches lined up in a neat row. James had been hungry all morning because he had been too busy praticing the Flight Simulation in the morning he skipped Breakfast, ever since the failed test James has been praticing ever morning for a few hours on engage and attack, control and many more. He walked up to the far end of the room where all the fresh food were. Then he approached a fat lady behind a counter with a tray, he held up his hand and pointed at some type of green substance.

"Four scoups of those, and some of that too" he told her, pointing at some orange mushed patato thing.

The fat lady scouped up the food he chose and placed them in a big grey bowl with strippes around the edge, most likly there was the banner at the bottem of the bowl to show it was the property of this 'fine' establisment. James lifted the bowl carfully and began walking around the room, seraching for a empty seat or if he was lucky: a inch or so gap.

"Hey over here!" A hoarse voice cried to James from about a meter or so away.

It was a young boy he met during one of the training pratices, his name was Mark or Bob or somthing like that. James grinned widly as he saw a empty seat beside him, he quickly walked over and sat down.

"Hey, how's it going with your training?" James asked, spooning his orange mush.

The young boy turned and looked at him. "Oh, well it's a bit easy with my instructer, how's your intructer?" he asked awkrawdly, it was like talking to a robot that would pretty much repeat what you say.

James let out a small frown, his drill intructor was a bit of a pain in the butt if you know what i mean. He kept on pushing him and pushing him to the max, and James is betting his life he put the level on HARD during the Simulation.

"Oh, he's a big fat pain in the ***" He swore, James was going to say more about his intructer but he stopped when a large shadow loomed over him.

"So, is that what you think, Private?" Said a demanding and a stern voice behind James.

James and the young boy turned slowly around, afraid of what they might see if they went too fast. James's Drill Intructor was above them with his hands on his hips and a angry and a pissed off expression on his face. He grabbed James by the shirt and lifted him up.

"Extra training tommarow, Private!" he spat out in James's face, James nodded slowly and the drill instructor let go of his shirt.

When the drill intructor turned and stalked away James looked down at his food and with a angry expression and a loud voice he shouted.

"DAMMIT!"

"Okay, easy now," James placed both his hands on the stick, a single sweat was running down the side of his head.

Okay sure, he had been praticing, and yes, he had recived extra training from his stupid drill intructor. So why was he still sweaty and nervous? I have no idea. James did have more confidence now that he had been praticing endlessly, he had been pushing himself, trying to prove to the DI that he can do this proffesonally without his goddamn help.

James took in a few deep breaths and let them out slowly, he could feel the eagle eyes from his DI burning into the side of his head. He let go of the stick and pressed one of the buttons on the ship, he felt it start.

Still taking deep breathes he pressed another button, his helmet's visor was only clear enough for him to see the letters and symbols on the ship's control but it suddenly filled up with objects and head's up display. He turned his head slightly to look at the DI.

He said,"Okay, i'm ready." His voice cracking with a hint of fright mixed with nervousness.

A dark black mass dotted with bits of light was what James saw a few seconds later, if he didn't know he was in a simulation he would think he was dead. Space, it was big. James cocked his head so he could observe his surroundings more, there was a large planet a few- Hundred- Miles away to his left.

He didn't see anything else besides a few planets in the distance. The simulator randomly creates a diffrent simulation each time, so the pilot won't cheat or use the same one over and over again so he won't know any new taticals.

After scanning the deep space a few more times in silence, he heard a distance rumble of a machinary of some sort. James turned his head in the direction of the sound, another sweat poured down his head as he saw the enemy.

He reached down and pulled up a few switch and saw the enemy 'Lock and Load' he winced and said,"Oh shit" Before turning the fighter to face the enemy ship.

After a few quick flicks of buttons and switches, he finally turned his frown upside down and into a wide smile- the enemy was stupid this time- James bent down with a smile on and pressed a rather large button. The fighter jerked only slightly as a Missile shaped object shot form it and at the enemy only a few miles ago.

There was a quick flash as peices and durbree flew in all directions, James was smarter this time and quickly flew back a bit to avoid the flying burning peices.

"Eat sh*t!" James laughed as his surroundings lightned and the simulation room appeared with the DI grinning up at him.

The DI said,"Good job, you finally made it." He acutally sounded human.

James jumped down from the SIM and grabbed a clean towel waiting for him on one of the tables, he wipped his foward which was drenched with sweat- incuding his uniform- and tossed it in the bag close by.

A few days later after the simulation

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

James laid on the grass beside his friend, he finally found out his name was acutally Mark. They sat there looking up at the clear sky, not much to do anymore. Mark sat up and watched a group of girls from the army huddle beside a tree, gossiping or somthing.

"Wouldn't it be nice to have a girl here, and wait for you to come back from the war and stuff." Mark said, still watching the girls."It would be like in the movies kind of."

James chuckled at the thought Him? Having a girl who loved him who would wait decades for him to come back. Yea right. He only had one girl who loved him, he had once loved her too, but that was when he was young and didn't really understand what love felt like untill he was eighteen. The girl had to move away, they lost contact and never saw each other again ever since that last day. James sighed, he had liked her alot but it could have been just 'like' not 'love'.

James said,"Yea sure, in your dreams and movies." He sat up with a slight grunt beside Mark.

Mark shrugged."Yea, i guess. But it still would be nice for somthing like that to happen, i mean, we are going off soon arn't we?"

"Next week or somthing, I don't really care, no one is waiting for me at home besides my family," James replied with a slight frown planted on his face, it was a thoughtful frown though.

Secretly in his heart he really wanted a girl to wait for him while he was off at war, he wanted to have someone love him. In other and more simpliar words: James Sanders was really lonely and wanted a girlfriend or someone to love and hold in his arms. Or for a girl to come to him and cry on his shoulder when she was down.

Nah, those only happens in movies and books. They don't really happend in real life or anything like that, it's all crap. James thought, a bit angry with himself for not getting a girlfriend earlier.

Mark watched the group of girls head back to the main building with a twinkle in his eyes. He said,"That tall one is a bit hot" quite unexpectly. James perked up a bit and scanned the group for the girl Mark was talking about, he gave up only a few seconds when he decided there was no hot or tall one. He let out a silent sigh as he watched him enter the building, laughing about somthing that he couldn't hear.

Mark got to his feet and brushed off his pants as if they were dirtly, of course they werern't though. "It's best I head back now," he said, in the corner of his eye he seemed to be looking at the building where the young ladys entered, As if it was his target...

James nodded in agreement but didn't say anything, he wouldn't be seeing Mark once they set off but they were planning to meet again once they head back to HQ. He also got to his feet and blew out a long breath he was holding in.

Life is only sweet when you add sugar to it. He thought, staring at the ground with sudden intrest. This life's bitter.

After his first mission..

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sitting down on the large fluffy red couch in the lounge with a groan of exuastion, James closed his eyes. He had killed his first enemy, then the second, then the third. It was a exciting and amazing experience for him, especially the part where they blow up. But yet, he had not experienced the thrill of almost being killed.

Once he had returned to base, eating a few ration packs on the way. James had slowly moved to the lounge after a long first day, he was tired and exuasted and could barley move at all. Though it was fun and exciting at first, James quickly realised that you can also get tired from being out in space all day trying to survive.

James was satsified with what he had done on the mission, he did what he was souppose to do, and did it good. And he deserves to sit here all day on this couch and sleep! And no one, no where can stop him. Well, maybe the Commander. He was close to drifting off the sleep when there was heavy footsteps approaching.

"Mr Sanders, I presume?" A low voice replied, James opened his eyes to see a Navy Officer, all dressed in his fancy uniform.

"Yes," James replied shortly, he had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach about why this Officer was here. Did he do anything wrong? Not sure.

"I have terrible news, you are the only person related to Mark Rodgers that we could fine," The well dressed officer replied. He showed no signs of sadness or pity when he said that.

This took a few seconds to proccess though James's mind before he realized what he just said, "What happened to Mark?" He asked urgently with sudden alertness, he was desprete to find out what happened to his only friend in the navy.

The officer shook his head and said, "He was killed on his first mission, he died with honor though." He paused a second for James to take it all in,"He crashed into the enemy base, apparently a sucide attempt that suceeded."
