Howdy, I'm the semi-trainer guy right now and I'll be walking you through Basic Training and Flight School. But to answer your question, although Cos summed it up pretty well, heh, we write in an RPG style. You have a character and you control his actions, emotions, and the social status within the stories we give you to write in. You are a pilot in the imperial navy, and you shall write as such. I might point you toward the Code of Conduct for rules amongst us members though...
Well, first off I should introduce you to the Naval Academy website: academy.imperial-navy.com
What will you find there? Well, first off theres a big image, you click on it and that brings you into the actual site. You'll see a series of tabs on the actual site, and the one you'll want to go to is exams... In exams you will see all of the actual 'exams' you can take as well as the information on Basic Training and Flight School.
Click on basic training and it basically, pun intended (Man I'm an idiot), tells you that you need to introduce yourself to the site and its various areas- Comnet (which you've obviously found), the roster which can be found in logistics off of the VE main, and maybe the pilots handbook. Once you feel you're well associated with the various places within the VE and mainly the VEN (that site is imperial-navy.com btw), then you can fill out the form at the bottom of the page and send it in. That is your VEBAT, which basically means you've completed Basic Training (BT).
Next STEP! Since Basic Training is really pretty introductory, you'll be through it pretty quickly, so lets move onto Flight School. Now, you've said that you've already started a bio- good. However, you said someone else is writing it for you. Theres nothing wrong with anyone helping you, but you need to know the character your writing about better than anyone. So, I highly suggest you be the main creator in that bio.
A few words about your bio- The bio is what your fellow pilots, as well as yourself, will use to describe you as well as your actions or reactions when they include you in thier story post. It is your ultimate opportunity to tell people what to write about you.
Now, you have your basics like- height, weight, structure (build), hair color, eye color, facial features or key marks of identification (scars, missing eyes, discoloration, tatoo...) That should go above your history in kind of a 'notes' form. As for your History, that is what you choose to tell people about yourself, but it also supports why you are the way you are and what you can do as well as any number of things... Its your explanation in short. Now, you can add other things to your information to really give excellent insight to your person- favorite food, things they hate, things they like, boot size, favorite color, querks, pet peeves... Well, some of those can go into eachother, but you get the point.
Now, I ask you post your bio here so it can be critiqued... Put it in the absolute best form you can, because that does mean something here. Put some thought into it, and have fun with it as well. That's what we're here for-
I'll tell you about the Aviator's exam once you've completed these task. DO THEM IN ORDER! Technically, you should to BT before FS, so I ask that you do that for the sake of the system. Anyways, report back when you've completed the little list of detailed nonsense, lol. If you have any questions, message me or you can ask in here and I'm sure one of your fellow pilots will give you a good answer. The best to you.
(Think I'll just start sending these out through message...)
