Well, I don't see anything about you in the Academy, so I suppose I can tell you what no one has yet.
You can take a look at academy.imperial-navy.com and see what we have in store for you. That is, what you'll have to do to be placed in a squadron. First off, you'll have to complete basic training, which you've really already done by posting and introducing yourself to the various parts of the site (i.e. Roster, Comnet, Bank, mIRC...)
After that its Flight School. All Flight School is at the moment is completing a bio. What's this mean? Well, look at Sk8's intro at the top of this particular portion of the comnet... He basically says you need to tell the look, the way and the why of your character. Does he have brown hair? Is he mean? Did he sign up because he liked the benefits!? Its your character and you make it your own. People seem to think you show promise. Prove it... Make your person unique, try to keep away from the cliche's most anyone can tell you around here. Those aren't frowned upon necessarilly, its just nice to see something new. The best to you...
