I tried to log on with my Java IRC thing and when I typed it said it had to be registered, so could someone please help me out?

It'll say that. Ignore it. Keep connecting. We've got it on a trial run because we're still developing it.. or something. Anyway, it should work. We've got people online now that are using it.

donno, i never bother to look at the server again once i got it connected.

Just to give u a heads up mara, the mIRC also is a trial version, but ignore the timeline, once the register date is up.
