I was just thinking we could have competitions every month or so for people who design things in the following categories:

Best Site Designer (For example, come up with a new template for the VE, VEN, Squadron, or other VE-related group)

Best Graphics Artist (Banners, pictures in general that are original...doesn't mean you can't take a screenshot and use the stuff in it for your picture or banner)

Screenshot of the Week/Month (Weekly...categories for winner?)

Best Writer (Who either was the best writer that month in terms of quality, or who tried the hardest, which isn't necessarily quantity, but could be most improved)

Best Designer (I don't know about this one, only person who seems up to it is Daishi)

Best Idea (Who came up with the best idea to improve the Navy or Vast Empire in any given month, possibly runners-up awards)

Best Gamer (Who gamed the most, or was the most successful at gaming in any given month)

And for the grand finale...

Most Active Pilot (Self-Explanatory, I think)


So, from here, any questions, comments, or concerns?  Also, with the permission of Arturus, I would like to design a web site for Kaph and update it on a bi-monthly basis (maybe more often, but not less unless I am on leave).

I'm not sure that all of these catagories are very applicable for a monthly contest, and some of them are not very applicable until we have a lot more members. However, the Navy will fund a month worth of the following:

Best Graphics Artist

Screenshot of the Month

Best Writer

Most Active Gamer

Most Active Pilot

The following will be awarded if I decide someone submits something of enough value to warrant it:

Best Idea

Most of these will probably merit some sort of medal as well as a monitary reward. Judging will be done by myself and miscellaneous other third parties outside of the division.

I will start three threads after I'm done with this one:

One will be for posting how much gaming you've done since the competition began. Basicly just post which game and a rough idea of how many hours you played. Stick to supported games. (I think I'm gonna include Free Alligence in this, beause I just looked at the site and its pretty neat, when I get back from campus I plan to investigate further). Any other posts on that thread will be deleted without warning or notice.

The second thread will be for screenshots. Either link them or embed them. Comments on screenshots will be allowed on that thread (since it doesn't really get in the way of what I'm looking for). Keep in mind that screenshots don't have to just be awesome looking things or something, they can be humorous as well.

The third thread will be for graphic art submissions, banners, general pictures, whatever.

The contest will offically begin tomorrow, Friday the 20th of February. It will run for four weeks unless we decide to prematurely end it. End date will be the 19th of March.
