I'm not tired of baseball. I play it year-round. However, i am sick of the Yankees, George Steinbrenner, and that ass Bud Selig. He should be shot. All baseball needs to get back on track is a slary cap. look what it did for football!!!!!! Kurt Warner comes out of nowhere to be one of the best in the game. How? Because there wasn;t some over-paid weenie in front of him? No, because a salary cap gives the average player a chance. If the players strike on Aug. 30, then i am done with supporting MLB, until they get rid of Selig...2 major stirkes during his reign...i think i see a problem... If selig were shot, the Yankees downsized, and Steinbrenner publicly humiliatted, then baseball will make a comeback. Oh and do you see people like Mike Sweeney makin 8-9 figures like some pansies..*cough*A-Rod*cough*...No he is a great ballplayer. How about Edgar Martinez, one of the greatest hitters ever. he makes 6mil, Ichiro? 8mil, hes an MVP for christ's sake. If he only makes 8, why should Piazza the fruitcake make over 60? or pay-rod , who by the way is a greta ball player, im not taking that away from him, 256mil? why should the Yankees have the payroll of the Devil Rays, Expos, Twins and Marlins combined? they shouldn;t. Profit sharing, pay cuts, salary cap...all baseball needs to get back on its feet. Selig wanted to ditch the Twins...but look who's leading the AL central by 10 games!!!!!!!!!!! Sleig is a joke....he is the problem..plz shoot him -----------------------

I totally and completely agree with Jubei.
 I cannot believe I just sad that.
Anyway, the problem does lie within the higher ups more so than the greed of the individual player. If they couldn't ASK for that much money, they wouldn't be doing it. That is, if there were a cap to how much one person could make, I doubt they would strike.
And, heck, if they DO strike "forever", I'm sure something will come along. A new baseball league or something, with better management and different players.
Wait ... that sounds frightfully like the XFL. 
Anyway. Either this will quickly be worked through or all major sports will die off within the next twenty years and we'll be left watching baseketball. AAHHH!!!! 
P.S. By the way, if this strike shafts the Braves of yet ANOTHER championship (points to the last time there was a strike) I am going to shoot Selig myself, and then work my way down the baseball rosters, Jub. -----------------------

I agree with what everyone has just said. The baseball players get paid way too much money for there own good and are getting lazy and greedy. If you compare the MLB players and the minor league players they are about the same but the minor leagues cost less and they are not lazy and are trying there hardest. I think there should be some major changes in the way that the MLB uses its money. -----------------------

Actually, I have a problem with all sports going out and grabbing kids fresh from high school to play in the pros. I don't care how talented you are, learn how to live and act as an adult first. Play some college, learn from a coach that doesn't care about your ego.
Granted, baseball does have a good college and farm system and this still happens. But the problems occur from being big shot jerks, not because of instant celebrity...unless you count the transformation that occurs when you head to New York (Jeter - insert any Yankee really, Piazza, probably Giambi anyone?)
Yeah, these guys make a lot of money. So do the CEOs of most companies, including the MLB. Not to sound too hokey, but the problem with baseball is that we all still treat it like a game and the actual participants are treating it like a business. That idea is bad for both sports and government.
Let's face it, all of sport is having this problem. Money fundamentally changes things. A real solution would be to start every player at the league minimum and reward/punish them for their play on the field. Home run? Here's $50,000 Mr. Bonds. Oh, here's $5,000 per strikeout Mr. Johnson.
