The commander of the Alliance Fleet, Admiral Ackbar led the Rebel capital ships into the Battle of Endor. Funny you should mention him. It seems the Rebels made better use of him than the Imperials did. Ackbar was once Tarkin's slave. They rescued him and next thing you know, they're winning battles.

Yes and it is also said that most of Ackbar's military skill and tacktics came from the many years he was able to observe the moff during his captivity.
