(VEN ISD Paragon)

Einarr worked the controls for the main generator of the Lambda shuttle as the craft began it preflight warm up routine, each system of the craft receiving power before responding with a green light on the ready board.

“Weapons report.” The pair of gunners in their seats sounded off ready as they tested the swiveling turrets of the Taim & Bak KX5 laser cannons, then the T&B GA-60's, and finally the retractable ArMek R-TO rear mounted twin blaster cannons.

“Navigation” Einarr's copilot, a bored Togruta female in a fresh flight suit fiddling with a set of Engineering tools jumped as her stations was called before quickly scanning the readings and flight plan.

“Ready boss, thanks for bringing me out on this one, working on the fighters is fun and all but I want to branch out and see the universe you know?”

“No problem Kaja, but keep your eyes on the nav plot, doesn't do either of us any good if we get lost with this cargo.” Einarr turned back to the system readout as he sent power to the repulsorlift, the shuttle slowly lifting off the deck as it rotated on the field to face the outer hull and the glowing aperture that was the gateway to open space. A touch of the controls brought the craft steadily closer as the lower wings rotated down into flight position.

“Control this is shuttle flight 2361 requesting permission to exit the hangar and requesting a good departure vector.” Kaja's voice rang out over the communications channel, the reply from the control center sounding more pleased than usual over the female voice rather than Einarr's usual tone or the mechanical drone of Cassius. The large droid stood behind and to the right of Einarr's seat held to the deck by its magnetic feet as it stood watch even in these relatively secure quarters, a long tapered blade held to its back in a sleek green scabbard.

“Confirmed flight 2361, Vector cleared and uploaded. Have a nice flight.”

Einarr boosted the power as the shuttle slid through the field, the main Ion engines kicking on as the shuttle pulled away from the Paragon slowly picking up relative speed as it drew away. Einarr gripped the main control yoke as he brought it onto course.

“Thing handles like a Hutt, but it sure can haul its share. Well lets get this shipment of parts over to the Strident shall we?” Einarr throttled forward, the Lambda class shuttle accelerating slowly as it sped towards an antiquated Acclamator class cruising slowly in formation back lit by the gentle glow of distant stars. Course corrections were fed in and sorted by the nav beacons broadcast by the various ships of the fleet as well as the Lambda's on board computer systems. A flight of Interceptors cruised sleek and graceful off the shuttle port side idly doing maneuvers the Lambda could only dream of as if it were no effort at all. Einarr envied the pilots of those graceful fighter craft, he was not due his next patrol for another 2 days. Shaking off the sentiment he turned back to the task at hand as he guided the lumbering craft toward the hangar of the Strident, Kaja already going through the handshake protocols for landing. Einarr cut the main drives and fired a short series of counter thrust bursts to slow the shuttle as they neared the hangars field. Einarr cut the counter thrust as the repulsorlift engine picked up the gravity field of the capital ship, slowly cruising through the field and into the hangar bay proper. Landing lights illuminated the path to the pad as Einarr guided the heavy shuttle on a gentle slide across the repulsorfield as the lower wings folded up into landing positions. Einarr toggled the landing gear as the craft settled slowly onto the pad. Einarr powered down the shuttle as one of the gunners went back to lower the boarding ramp to let the cargo droids unload the ship.
