This is a little bit of background information about factions that have been opposing the DJO in our own stories.

Some of this information, particularly about the New Jedi Order, will be in the public domain by 11/12 ABY.

New Jedi Order

The New Jedi Order was reformed much earlier in our timeline than the EU material as the Clone Emporer never existed. This left Luke Skywalker to form a new academy much earlier. There are also more old Jedi who survived the Clone Wars coming out of the woodwork. (allowing us to develop some more characters of our own)

The first batch of new Knights have already been set out into the galaxy by 11 ABY. Another major difference between our version and the source material is that they have adhered to older and stricter codes which forbid relationships and encourage leaving behind all emotional attachment.

There is a significant NJO presence on both Coruscant and Yavin.

There are currently three philosophical strands within the New Jedi Order. At the moment they exist in harmony, but as the fledgling Order tries to find its new place in the Universe tensions will rise.

Idealists

The founding members believe wholeheartedly that the Jedi are the protectors of the New Republic. They see the Empire at a great evil that must have its influence completely removed from the galactic stage. Members such as Luke Skywalker, Corran Horn and Kyle Katarn belong to this group. They believe that even the greatest evil can be redeemed, but that sometimes violent action is necessary to protect the Republic

Arbiters

Following the teachings of several old Jedi, many of the Jedi believe that they stand above all political organisations as moral arbiters. They see all emotions as a weakness to be scorned and take a monochrome view of morality. Evil cannot be tolerated in any form. They see personal comforts, possessions and wealth as distractions to be avoided. Justice must be done without hesitation or regret. This group are lobbying to be given legal powers to act as law enforcement across all systems, both New Republic and independent. Some systems have taken to this notion, happy to allow such powerful guardians to route out the sources of serious crime without requiring payment. Many local Governments have not taken to the notion. When these Jedi enact their justice based on information gained through the Force, they can be seen a little more than Witchhunters by the general public. Many consider them as angry and fearful after the events of the Jedi Purge, and have no real understanding of their quest to route out the "dark side." For many more, it is simply the case that Emporer Palpatine's evidence to initiate Order 66 was so widly reported across the galaxy that they still harbour a deep mistrust of the Jedi Knights.

Healers

There is a belief growing amongst a few of the Order that the Jedi have no place on the battlefield or as a galactic police force, unless it is absolutely necessary. They believe that the Jedi order must find its place as a peaceful influence on the galaxy. In their views, all Jedi should spend their time as diplomats, teachers and healers. Without overtly influencing galactic events they wish to bring peace to the galaxy through education and negotiation. They will take up arms in the protection of any peaceful beings and much like the arbiters see personal sacrifice as the greatest good.

Reborn Jedi Order

The Reborn Jedi Order was formed at an unknown time by the exiled Dark Jedi Masters of the Vast Empire. They hatched a plan to destroy their old faction. Joining forces with Thrawn's Imperial faction they started using their new resources to enact their scheme.
On Lopen one fo the Dark Jedi Masters had discovered an entirely new use for an artefact previously considered little more than a toy - to infuse an individual with an enormous amount of Force energy.

The pair experimented with the artefact and were successful in giving a trainee access to great power beyond their normal means. They now had a way to empower a huge number of disciples in a very short space of time and use them against their former faction. However the power of the nebula was spent after just a handful of experiments, so they sought out a new source of power.

The Reborn Jedi wear scarlet robes and typically wield lightsabers hastily constructed by their masters - not having the training and control to create their own.

All information points to a rigid three tier hierarchy within the Order. The ruling body is formed of Classified

The Operator

This incredibly powerful intelligence presents a great threat to Force Users across the galaxy. Classified
