Just a character bio for the protagonist of my story 'The Countess of Serenno', Septimus Vaiken of the Imperial Navy and the secretive Naval Intelligence.

Commander of the Strike-class Medium Cruiser Regent and agent for Imperial Naval Intelligence.

Born on Anaxes to Lucius and Domina Vaiken, a noble family by all rights, Septimus grew up as a pampered child. However, he had always retained a fascination for the Imperial Navy - his father and his father's father before him had been in the Navy, stemming from a long line of navy men who could trace their roots back to Odile Vaiken of the resurgent Sith Empire.

As soon as he was able, he joined the local Anaxsi Imperial Academy - albeit little more than an overstated school. He graduated with honours and moved up into a proper academy, but three weeks into his course he was transferred to the prestigious Raithal Academy, due to his perfect scores.

He trained as an Imperial Officer, with a particular interest in naval tactics and the history thereof, intelligence, espionage, counter-intelligence and ship-to-ship warfare. He studied profusely, all aspects of naval warfare and was the top of his class. He graduated from the academy - again with honours - and was assigned to the CR-90 Viscount as its XO. While it is rumoured that he was recruited by Naval Intelligence at the same time, there are no confirmed records thereof. After a standard year, Vaiken's diligence had caught the attention of those higher up.

He was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and given the Viscount after his CO was killed in an assumed terrorist attack. Vaiken personally tracked down the pirates responsible and destroyed their base with the Viscount, before returning to ordinary patrol duty. It was in the face of another engagement with pirates that Vaiken showed exceptional bravery and skill, when he saved two transports full of dignitaries by performing a highly controversial maneouvre that ended with the Viscount's hyperdrive being fried.

The damaged hyperdrive was largely ignored, though, and Vaiken was promoted to full Commander and given command of the Strike-class Medium Cruiser Regent. It was during this period that he was assigned under the Serenno protective force, serving Admiral Raylirr Cairn.

Personality and Traits;

Vaiken was an extremely young man for someone of his rank, and his personality showed why. He had a Thrawn-esque command style, preferring cold, sharp reprimands over Vader's famous rage. He was highly intelligent and a tactical genius, some might have said, but also a ladies' man. He was gentlemanly and noble, as becoming his heritage, and had excellent manners despite his shady involvement with Naval Intelligence. His men respected and occasionally envied him for his skill and prospects for future advancement.
