Blaster bolts flew past Arthur and Harzo heads as they took off. It took the NR forces a few seconds to give chase. That gave Arthur's crew time to drop off the cargo at the hunters speeder and continue their escape. Aselk and Junta quickly hid the cargo in with the few kills they had made. When the NR forces showed up with two speeders carrying some of the bases soldiers they dropped off one speeder with a NR soldier to check out the Hunters.
“Hello we have our hunting passes right here sir.” Junta said quickly and began to hand them to the soldier.
“That’s not why we stopped.” The NR soldier said as he grabbed the passes, and began to scan them.
“You must have been looking for the speeder that sped past here a moment ago.” Aselk said and began to point a little south of Arthur’s location. “They sped past us going that direction, and they ruined my perfect kill shot.”
“You won’t mind if we have a look around your craft then would you?” The soldier asked.
“Feel free to move anything you need but if you get blood on those seats you can take it up with the guys we rented it from.” Junta said.
The soldier motioned to the others to begin searching the craft. The soldier saw the amount of kills and then checked how many they requested, and saw the numbers didn’t match. “Your pass only allowed you to kill five and you are currently at seven.”
“Really how can we get that fixed to say eight totals which we thought we requested?” Aselk asked
“You have to buy a new pass at double the cost in order to keep these two” One of the local soldier replied.
“You guys can move along, but which way did you say they went again?” The soldier tried to trick them.
Aselk pointed the same way and simply stated “That way.”
~~~Just outside town~~~
Arthur, Ifte, and Harzo quickly got out of the speeder and ridged it to crash into the closes rock face in sight. They quickly got changed and walked back to town to meet up with the others at the hunting lodge. When they got into town they saw the whole place swarming with NR patrols each having a former member of the bases guards to identify the smugglers. They watched as the patrol stopped every single person and check both their faces and packs.
Arthur opened a com-link to the
Rogue. “I need you to meet us outside of town. I’m sending our location now.”
“Roger that the “hunting” party has returned and we are waiting to get access to the
Rogue.” Maris replied.
“What is your current location?” Arthur asked.
“We are currently in the cantina waiting for the soldiers to get off our ship and not find the cargo.” Maris said.
“I hope my tea doesn’t get you in any trouble. It is legal in Vast Empire space, but I’m not sure about New Republic space.” Arthur said the com went silent for a few moments.
“We were just told we could board our ship. Let’s hope this goes well, and I don’t have to activate the droids.” She said.
~~~Five minutes later~~~
Maris walked into the hanger and active the V6 Pilot Droid to start the preflight sequence, and began t active the battle droids. When Junta, Aselk made their way to the loading ramp, twelve New Republic soldiers poured out of the alcoves surrounding the
Rogue. Maris quickly pressed the activation key, and the four B-1aa Air Assault Battle Droids dropped off the top of the
Rogue and tried to surround the crew.
The NR soldiers saw this and began shooting at both the droids and the crew. The NR was able to hit Maris in the arm as she began to climb up the ramp, and they killed Junta as he tried to reach the ramp. The four droids were finally able to pin the soldiers down in cover. The ramp was pulled up when Aselk helped Maris aboard, and the V6 began to pilot to Arthur's data-pads location as was programmed to.
When the
Rogue was clear the B-1aa Air Assault Battle Droids took off and followed the ship. The
Rogue appeared above Arthur and began to land a few yards away on a large flat ground in front of them. The ramp was lowered and the rest of the team got on board. Arthur 2-1B met him at the top of the ramp.
“Master, Maris was shot in the arm, and I have done what I can to help her, but she needs to be submerged into a bacta tank to fully heal. I have waited to place her in the tank so she could talk to you by her order.” The droid said.
Arthur had Harzo check the cargo while he went to check on Maris. Arthur ran down the narrow corridors towards his medical bay. He slid down one of the halls as he tried to stop to turn. Arthur was heaving as he made it to the med-bay. He slid open the door and walked in to the room. He walked over to Maris and Aselk when he caught his breath.
“She has been asking for you.” Aselk said.
“Thank you for waiting with her.” Arthur told her, as she left the room.
Arthur cupped Maris hand in his as she reached for his arm. “I’m right here.” He said.
“I screwed up this job.” She told him.
“No you didn’t, we are safe aboard the ship.” Arthur said.
“Not all of us. Junta didn’t make it, and it is my fault for leaving the ship.” She told him.
“This is not your fault there was no way you knew what could happen.” Arthur told her. “If anyone is to blame it is me. I was the one who took the job from the Hutt, and it was me who they were looking for. Now you need to rest, and let the 2-1B do its job I’ll see you in a few days.”
“This talk is nowhere near over we will continue it after I am released from the tank.” She told him.
“Ok, I’ll visit you later.” Arthur told her as he left the room. Arthur met up with the rest of the team in the mess hall. They waited for Arthur to talk before relaying any information.
“Well this is not how I wanted this job to go. I will pay anyone now if they want to leave and I will drop you all where ever you want to go.” Arthur told them.
“Arthur we still have the supplies on board and how would it look if I jumped ship now. I don’t think anyone would hire me after this.” Harzo said the rest of the team was in agreement.
“I found out that the Hutt sold us out to the New Republic when I sliced into their system. We need to find a new buyer for the product now.” Aselk
“Try to contact the Black Suns, as well as The Vast Empire.” Arthur told them.
“Why the Vast Empire?” Aselk asked.
“I have a few friends there, and I’m sure they might want these. Tell the VE to contact me personally though.” Arthur told them.
They might request me to return to active duty though, and if it mean I can kill the NR soldiers I will, Arthur thought.
