I understand that and the logic is contained in my story.
Basically, before he joined the VE/before he was captured by the old Galactic Empire, Hades ran a youth gang - the gang did not pay but it fed, housed and clothed the members. Through scavenging and what not they gained arms and such, but all this is in my back story. IN the CD, Hades meets up with his gang for the first time in 3 years. He finds out that they have joined up with a gang known as the "
Shadow Wing" (which is a canon pirate organisation).
The Shadow wing was already operating three CR-90's - funded by their pirate profits - and with the profits made from the big job Hades' gang had done in the past, combined with the inheritance that Hades was unknowingly left by his parents, they upsized three more ships - two Vibres and one CR-90 off the black market, crewed by members of the youth gang. From there, the gang/s worked together to create profit from providing security and raiding unsuspecting convoys and other pirates.
They get by, but the job they're doing in the CD is meant to give them some extra cash to fix up their ships - which are in pretty bad condition.
