RAIDERS.

Raising up he took stock of the situation as he continued to curse whoever turned on the lights. His eyes adjusted slowly as he saw his squad moving about by themselves or in twos, he knew their training was enough to keep them safe for now. His biggest concern was for his second, he could tell from her actions the withdrawl was kicking in full force.

He saw members of Jester on the other side of the hangar bay, he estimated the fight would be over soon as both groups of security guards were dwindling. To his knowledge no member of the two squads was down yet, which was pure luck but not an oddity. Most of them had years of experience behind their belts and knew the game of killing.

Seeing Jaenna put aside her pistol and instead begin attacking with her blades he swore as he ran to intercept her. Flipping his magnum around he smashed one man's unprotected throat with the butt end of the grip as he grabbed Jaenna and flung her to the ground. Pinning both of her arms above her head he held her against the ground as he said into the open comm link, "Covering fire, my location. Keep them away from us for a few minutes."

Pulling one of the blades from her hand he went from the other only to be slashed across the side for his troubles. He felt the razors edge slice through the thin material of his suit and bite deeply into his flesh. Grunting he pulled the other knife from her hand he flung it behind him a few feet.

"Jae, calm down for a second damnit." Joamer said through clinched teeth. He hated being biting by one of her blades, the things stung worse than one of his for some reason. He looked down to see her snarling at him, completely lost in the spice withdrawl.

Sighing to himself knowing what he had to do, he reached behind him freeing one of her hands to begin punching his lightly protected chest. He ignored it as best he could as he fished out a small injector filled with a concentrated form of spice. Pressing it to her neck, he squeezed the release as the high dosage flooded her system.

"I'm getting you help, but for now I need my second in some form of control. Whether that be sober of high, so be it." Joamer said as he looked down at the woman he swore to protect a long time ago. "Now, on your feet soldier our squad needs us."

Standing up he turned around and picked up his particle magnum as he noticed most of the fighting had moved away from them. Signalling to the troopers nearest to him he ran forward towards a group of enemies leaving Jaenna on the floor to find her senses. He knew the two troopers he had signaled would protect her till she got to her feet, but for now he needed to orchestrate some sort of symphony out of this insanity.

RAIDERS

“Seriously...” Mox said as he reloaded.

The hangar was no longer itself, as the joint forces of RAIDERS and Jester were clearing it out. It became more of a battlefield, but not as empty. There were plastide and durasteel boxes everywhere, waiting to serve as cover. Mox couldn't quite find himself in this battle. All these years he had fought most of his enemies in a closed space, where it was easy to retreat, and in someway, either freerunning or otherwise, flank. Now, fighting in open space Mox didn't know what to do. He was outnumbered, with nowhere to hide and attack with stealth. This squad Wraiths.... if it comes back online I'll sign up for it... Mox thought as he targeted the next merc to kill.

Having acquired more clips when RAIDERS pushed back the mercs, Mox now fought along with Coadster and WhiskeyRose. Don't do anything stupid Mox thought to himself, over and over again, as he aimed and occasionally took down enemy troops. Having Coadster next to him made him more positive, Coadster being the only person he liked in the squad. Xylonia was a trooper, and she could shoot and that was a good thing alone.

“So guys... should we advance?” Mox said, after taking down another merc.

“Why not?” Coadster said smiling, as he reloaded his rifle.

Mox clipped his DC-17M to his back, and after that he took out his DC-15c pistol and a vibroknife.

“Heh... Cover me, OK?” Mox said as he readied his vibroknife. Both RAIDERS nodded.

“1... 2... 3! Mox said as he jumped over, shooting at various mercs, with no aiming. Most of the bolts missed, and those that hit didn't kill their targets. In a moment he travelled about three walls of coverable obstacles, until his knife found its prey. As he jumped onto a merc, having shot him twice he threw his blade into the man's head, killing him instantly. Coadster and Xylonia not advancing as quickly, provided cover fire.

Mox quickly let go of the blade, which was stuck deeply in the Security Guard's head and helmet, and jumped to cover, just before a hail of blaster bolts hit the lifeless corpse. Heh... I should really stop doing this... Mox thought as he switched his weapons. It'll kill me one day.

Mox waited, occasionally shooting mercs that dared to advance, for Coadster and Rose to catch up. At times he popped up from cover, and attempted to shoot mercs that were trying to kill his teammates, often in vain. In the mean time, Mox was thinking the whole situation over. My parents got killed by some organisation, I joined the rebels and did a hell of work for them, then they sent me to VE, in which I ditched them... and Joamer doesn't trust me... I only hope he doesn't tell Havock about it... Mox thought thinking about what happened on Thyveck But there was BrightStar as well.... I'm fracked... and she's somewhere around here as well... Mox bit his lip as he Coadster and Rose closed up on him.

“Anyone has any ideas?” Mox said, as he put his bandanna on top of his face.

RAIDERS

It would be a lie if someone were to say that the RAIDERS ASL weren’t dependent on the drugs she had gotten herself tied into. Though, a new question would then arise: was it addiction or was it medical dependence? As the woman lay on the floor of the hangar bay, chest heaving as her fists shook, balled as tight as they could be, the answer was growing clear: it was a mixture of both.  She had only taken to the drugs in order to stop herself from having the anxiety attacks that had endangered her and her squad mates when she had first joined the Army, but through her constant use because of much she enjoyed them, her body had grown used to them. They were medicinal and dangerous, all thrown into one dangerous cocktail, and as the woman could finally open her eyes, ears once more catching the sound of the mercenaries firing and the fire that was covering her ass, she made the silent vow to find that happy medium.

With a careful mind she rolled to her stomach and pulled herself along with her elbows, scooping up her blades once more and shimming over to where Dusk and Beta had been giving her the covering fire. With a final roll, she ducked back behind the crates, sheathed her blades and grabbed her DC-15 from her belt again. Slowly, the woman inhaled, her chest rising with the intensity of a woman who had just calmed down, and yet was high off of her ass from the condensed mixture that Joamer had shoved into her bloodstream. With the slow and steady exhale, the effects set in entirely, her pupils dilating into tiny beady little things as her trigger finger gently brushed along the piece of metal that would no doubt end the next few lives that stared down the barrel of her pistol.

“You good, Jae?” Dusk took a moment from his firing to ask the question that only received a simple nod in return. Satisfied with at least that, he smirked and returned to firing at the mercs.

Finally, with a smirk of her own beginning to drift across her lips, the woman scooted away from the box her back had been pressed against and turned, her eyes narrowed as that devil’s grin continued to sparkle. The moment after her head was raised enough to aim, shots were fired, her bolts mixing with her squad mates who were now all more or less doing fine and doing their parts. The spice drove her on, firing shot after shot, felling men in only one or two hits. It felt good, it felt amazing, the woman felt alive again with each shot she fired, the spice gripping her mind with it’s iron hands and keeping her steady.

Once the woman saw no more than five men left, she clicked her com on. “Bright! Get ready to lock down!” And as she fell one more merc she chuckled to herself.

OOC:
500 exact.

Only four guys left in the hangar, Jae has let Bright now to get her guys ready to lock down the place.

JESTER

During the madness Bright had assigned her boys to one or the other entrances, making sure that none of them were going it alone. Dunny and Lightray would take the maintenance entrance while she and Therex would take the main entrance.

“You heard the lady, get ready to lock down.” Bright called to her squad over the comm system she shared with them.

Four enemy men remained in the hangar. And it had become painfully apparent that they were not stupid. They seemed to have just vanished into thin air. “Dunny, Light, watch yourselves. Those mercs just disappeared, and I have this gut feeling that tells me they are on an intercept course.” Bright said making her way cautiously through the hangar bay.

“I really hope that Lukas has a good vantage point.” The Chiss man muttered.

“Me too. I hate not being able to see my enemy.” The squad leader replied. Therex seemed surprised that she had agreed with him at all.

The two of them quietly continued to the main entrance. They would have made too, but for the appearance two rather lager mercenaries. One of them took to his knee to begin firing while the other rushed at Therex. Having none of it, Bright dodged what fire she could from the one merc while she pushed her trooper out of the other merc's path.

The last she saw of the private before the charging merc slammed into her, was of him rolling to his knees and taking aim at the man firing at him. Bright didn't have time to worry about him, she had her own problems. The man who had slammed into her was big. He'd managed to body slam her to the floor before she'd known what hit her, possessing a speed that belied his size.

Grunting as she picked herself up off the floor, Bright grabbed her blades from the sheathes on her thighs. “Okay big guy, lets dance.” She said.

“Don't make me laugh little girl.” He said twisting out of her range.

The two of them connected a few time, Bright with her blades and the burly merc with his massive fists. She knew she was going to have some major bruising after today. For several more minutes the two of them continued their 'dance.' Bright generally had the upper hand due to her smaller size and superior speed, but the big man had managed to take her by surprise by flinging blood from his lacerated hand into her eyes. Unable to see, Bright became an easy target for the merc's armored knee and dizzying haymaker.

She could see the finishing blow coming at her, but for the life of her, she couldn't seem to clear her head. The moment she looked up at the man though, she grinned. Half a second later the man's head snapped back  and he hit the floor with a resounding thud.

“You're clear.” She heard Joamer call.

When the merc started firing, Therex pulled out his gun ready to fight, when, for no apparent reason, Bright threw him against the ground. Recovering, he turned around and opened his mouth. Before he could say anything, he saw that a merc had thrown her to the ground. Jumping up, he started towards her, when a volley of laser bolts shot over his head. Stopping very ungracefully, he fell to the floor. Scampering back to cover, he pulled out his revolvers. They only had two shots a piece, and his spare ammo was at the other side of the hangar. Swapping them out, he grabbed an E-11 and started firing back. Several shots hit the merc, yet he kept firing.

Confused, Therex stopped firing and looked closer at the man. He had on some form of armor that was absorbing the fire. He had seen it before. It was Barbarel armor. Swearing, Therex looked down at his gun. Suddenly an idea hit him. Pulling the power cell out, he reached his finger in and yanked a small metal piece out. Throwing it aside, he replaced the cell, and came back up.

The force of the shot threw Therex's arm backwards. Taking several steps backwards, he fell on his butt. Jumping back up he looked around for the merc. Swearing, Therex saw the man stand back up, his armor now a charred mess. Bringing his gun back around, Therex pulled the trigger. Nothing happened, pulling it again several times yielded the same results. Before he could grab another weapon, the blaster started making a high pitched noise. Reaching down, Therex almost burned his hand on the power cell.

Swearing again, he threw it over his cover, towards the merc. The stock caught him in the face, surprising him. Before he could respond, the weapon exploded violently. Therex ducked behind the crate until the debris stopped flying around.

When Therex looked over the crate he saw a smoldering crater where the merc once stood. Satisfied, Therex turned to see Bright had already finished off the other merc. She saw the scene that Therex had caused.

"Do you just have to blow everything up," she asked, shaking her head.

"We haven't lost a squad mate yet, so no," he said smiling at her.

Sighing, she ran over to a control panel and punched some keys, sealing the doors from the inside. She then turned and motioned for Therex to follow her.

"Let's see if we can help Dunny and Light," she said.

Nodding, Therex grabbed a rifle from one of the dead bodies, while Bright radioed in, informing the group that the hangar was secure, except for two bogies. When she received confirmation, she and Therex started looking for the rest of their squad.

RAIDERS

A small burst of blaster fire zoomed over Heliwer’s head, making him swear. If it wasn’t bad enough that the lights had gone out and Mister Flyboy wanted to be a pilot again, it was that his armor didn’t fit right. Every time he moved, it squeezed his chest tight and did nothing to help him in the fight. After a few minutes after the lights came on and RAIDERS and Jester began to tear up the hanger, he growled, unfastened his chest piece, and threw it at a mercenary, hitting him straight in the head. [i] When we get back, I’m gonna get a new chest plate. [i/]

It turned out that the delicious food at the food court had made him grow some stomach. It wasn’t like he was not working out. The job that he did only required him to stand and act tough. No physical labor involved. He didn’t have a lot of stomach either, just healthy size.

After Jaenna and Jester cleared out the hanger, Therex doing a Heliwer by utterly destroying his mercenary, the two squads met up together to plan their next action. Days of standing idle and acting like he didn’t overhear anything paid off. “A few of the guys on the station liked going to Sly for credit loans. His business is basically part bank and part trader. The soldiers would complain about their duties, especially about Blanchard. Apparently, even though Needle and Blanchard are somewhat similar, they still have rivalries, each thinking each other best. Sly keeps himself in a good position, leeching off of both sides. I remember a few also leaving him some information with regards to where the prisoners are. Only one problem.”

“What is it?” Joamer asked, a little peeved.

“Erm, I can’t remember the exact information. We’ll have to deal with Sly to get it, and even then he probably will just point his slimy finger at someone else and escape.”

He rubbed the back of his head, feeling some glares. “Hey, I couldn’t write the stuff down!”

Xylonia was stood next to him, and gently laid her hand on his shoulder. The gentle touch made him calm down a bit, not before whipping out a cigarette, sitting down on one of a few intact crates, and smoking.

JESTER, BABY!

Sam Jack Dunn reached into the crate of weaponry that Raiders Squad had uncovered as his vision cleared, and grinned as he drew out a pair of BlasTech SE-14c Light Repeater Pistols. A modified version of the standard-issue backup weapon used by Imperial Stormtroopers during the Galactic Civil War, the SE-14c had a far more efficient scope, allowing it to provide both optical zoom and infrared targeting. It also had the capacity for either single-shot, or fully automatic fire, and was deadly accurate. The c version, however, was expensive to manufacture, and had fallen out of favour with the Vast Empire.

Sam had been looking for a pair for quite some time, and he was, needless to say, overjoyed by the find. He immediately holstered his navy-issue DL-44 pistols and checked the charge and settings of his shiny new weapons. Everything was on the green, but the safety was on. He turned his head to look at Lightray.
“Damnit, they’ve fixed the illuminators!” The man snarled as he took aim at a Blanchard mercenary.
“I guess you could say…” Sam Dunn started to say as he flicked his thumbs over his weapon’s safety catches, powering them up with a soft whine.
“They’ve seen the light.”

Silence. Damn it, things were nowhere near as fun without Kilroy around. He sighed and rose over the crates, jamming his fingers on the trigger and sending out two streams of rapid-fire lasers into the enemy’s position, taking out at least three of the mercenaries as he did so. It wasn’t until the few surviving mercs had fled the hangar that he finally heard a familiar voice over the comm.
”YEAAAAAAAAAAAA!”
He smiled softly, and allowed himself a small chuckle. If life was a joke, Kilroy was the punchline.

Brightstar waved Sam and Lightray over to the maintenance accessway in order to lock it down and secure the hangar, whilst Raiders squad hung back to provide cover fire. Dunny looked over his shoulder and winked at Xy as he jammed his two new pistols into his pockets, advancing casually towards the maintenance hatch. It was small, dark, and Sam had a nasty feeling that trouble was waiting for him there. He drew his boot-knife just in time, as a angry-looking Trandoshan with a double-vibro blade burst from the small entrance, swinging the blade at an angle straight for his neck. Dunny ducked low under the blade and grabbed the Trandoshan’s wrist as it moved past, pivoting on his leg and using the enemy’s own momentum against him.

The throw carried the target over his shoulder and towards Lightray – he had faith in the man’s abilities to finish off the target. The second foe, a Rodian, didn’t even have time to raise his blaster, as Sam’s hand shot forth, and his knife buried itself to the hilt in the green-skinned mercenary’s throat. Too easy. Trusting Raiders and Lightray to be able to handle one merc, he quickly locked down the maintenance accessway.

The hangar was secure.

OOC:

RAIDERS

Xy's sapphire eyes started to turn silver as she glanced at Joamer.  What a joke. She reflected on what had transpired before she got to the hangar.

OOC:
Flashback

Xy had captured a New Republic agent with Dusk’s help and brought him to the briefing room, but Joamer and Jaenna were so distracted that they ignored that fact.

As Raiders left the briefing room, she had thoughts of her own.  Frak with this! I worked hard putting up with this scumbag and bringing him in, I'm frakking delivering his ass to Gates.

Heliwer was the only one who noticed her staying behind.

"What are you doing?"

Xy stripped off her silver dress and kicked off the matching heels.  She was so pissed off she didn't care that Heliwer was gaping at her nude form.

She pulled on her body suit as she spoke, "I was onto this guy my first day here.  I watched him like a hawk and I'm not going to let it be all for nothing! Frak Jae and Joa! They want to ignore me because I'm new and they don't think I can take the heat? Frak them!"

By the time her rant was over, she was fully suited up in her armor with her weapons strapped on.

"Grab him and let's go!" Her face was flush with the heat of her anger.

She climbed on the table and pushed the ceiling vent directly above it open. She pulled herself up.

Heliwer answered only by grabbing her prisoner and jumping up on the table.  He held up the prisoner above his head, and Xy grabbed the man and pulled him into the duct work.

"I'm with you.  I knew there was a reason I liked you.  You don't take fodder from anyone."  Heliwer pulled himself up and pulled the vent shut behind him.

“Where are we going?” Heliwer asked curiously.

“Shhhhh! You big oaf!” Xy whispered back at him angrily.

After they made it to their destination, she dropped from the shaft and moved toward her target, dragging the prisoner behind her.

“What in blasted… Private Rose?  What are you doing here?”  Garryll Gates was looking down his nose at her furiously.

“Just dropping off a present for you Captain, especially since Joamer didn’t want it.”  She dragged the prisoner along the floor until he came to a stop at Garryll’s feet.  Xy showed the Captain the man’s New Republic tattoo on his arm. “It was said we needed intel, so I brought you a source.”

Gates nodded, “Both of you, get to your location, the rest of your squad is already in position.  We will discuss this at a later time.”

Xy nodded curtly and turned to leave.  Garryll’s hand shot out and grabbed her, stopping her.

“Private,” he paused a moment piercing her with his stare, “Nice work.”  He released her and she nodded again.

As fast as they could, they made their way to hangar 51/b, eventually rendezvousing with the rest of Raiders.

OOC:
End Flashback

A blaster firing brought her back from the memory.  I hope Gates gets some information from that bastard.

RAIDERS.

Swinging his rifle around he squeezed the trigger, he saw what he thought was the last mercenary collapse to the floor with a sizable hole in his chest. Half sitting on top a fighter that was being repaired he looked around for a long moment scanning the hangar bay. After a time he clicked his comm link and said, "Squads sound off all clear."

Sitting on top of a fighter made him a very tempting target, but as the seconds stretched into minutes no further shots were aimed his way. He saw a few members of Jester over by the main entrance locking it down, while his squad moved through the hangar bay slowly collecting weapons and more ammunition.

"Both entrances secure." He heard Brightstar say into the open commlink a few minutes later. He nodded but doubted anyone saw it, it was more reflex than anything.

"Authorization code charlie, zebra, six eight niner. Requesting back up forces at hangar 51/b." He said into the command frequency that was being used by the naval forces standing by close to the station. He hoped the army forces that were waiting in the transports got the all clear to come in, the station was beginning to grow troublesome.

Moving down from the fighter he strapped his DLT-20a to his back but grunted as part of the rifle rubbed against the long gash Jaenna had inflicted on him. With the fighting he had completely forgotten about his rather bad injury, and now that the adrenalin was fading the pain was coming back. Looking down he could see half his leg covered in blood as the wound continued to pump more out little by little.

Wondering why the station was tilting he felt his legs half collapse as he sat down on a crate. Switching frequencies on his comm his said, "Hey Karash, mind coming over here for a minute? I've got this small cut I need you to look at for me."

"Leave it to Joa to get stabbed by someone he is fighting." The voice of Brightstar echoed through his commlink a few moments later. He heard light chuckling from both squads as he watched Karash get closer slowly.

"What's more fun is being stabbed by your own second." Joamer said as he remembered being nearly gutted by Jaenna. He highly doubted she remembered any of it, at the time she had been fully lost in spice withdrawal.

He saw Karash lean down and inspect the wound for a moment before grimacing and saying, "Remove your armor, this one is going to take some time."

Standing up he unhooked his chest piece and dropped it to the floor as he started to remove his body suit he said, "RAIDERS, secure the hangar. Assist Jester in whatever they need, for now we sit tight till the army boys get here."

He hoped they arrived soon, otherwise this place would be overrun very quickly once the station security got organized.

Blackjack

The gunfire died down all at once; the latest attack had been no match for the some of the Empire’s Finest. Security men had died as they’d come at them, slaughtered piecemeal by the superior weaponry of the Stormtroopers.

“Get back in position!” Gates barked. “Kilroy, take your damn spot!”

The corporal sheepishly returned to his position. Gates cursed softly. The man’s loose cannon tendencies, buoyed by his absurd amount of luck and the belief that his training was simply superior.

And the belief that he was a third in command or that his rank had much privilege over his own comrades’ had made Gates steam. Blackjack’s SL did not suffer arrogance lightly; it was more important to shut up and follow orders than to see how flashy one could be.

He cursed again - this was only his squad. As company commander, he had the other three squads to worry about at the same time. In his ear, the comlink buzzed, and he tapped it.

“Gates here.”

“This is Imperial Task Force Hammer. Captain Gates, we are now on-station,” crackled a thick, drawling voice.

“Roger that, sir,” Orr cut in. “Deploy the army forces to these coordinates. They are now friendly territory and are open for landers.”

“Alright, forces are moving in,” drawled the Navy man. “We’re starting to get some traffic from Liberty. Stand by.”

Gates stared out of the shield deflectors before him in the hangar; the Imperial task force was tiny in the extreme distance, barely visible at all. A few minutes slipped past, and soon, small darts appeared; the dropships - with their loads of men and munitions.

“Well, this Liberty station’s got some bite to her! All those damn merchants are fleeing the ship like rats - and some forces have engaged us. Uglies, attack fighters, and some big stuff. We’ll have our hands full, for now.”

The first dropship slipped into the hangar before them, its repulsorlifts roaring as it shuffled about, trying to find an open space. Finally, its pilot got weary of the charade and smashed his ship into one of the smaller freighters, knocking it aside enough to set it down.

Gates stood before the ramp and slung his rifle. The ramp dropped, and a squad of heavily armed army troopers stormed down, dropping to the deck.

“Welcome to Liberty Station, gentleman,” Gates said. “I can hardly guarantee this’ll be a pleasure visit.”

“Captain!” said the sergeant of the squad, a barrel-chested man with heavy facial scarring but an eager look in his eye, “courtesy of the commodore, we’ve got some of your fancy SCOPE gear onboard as well, as requested.”

“Hear that, ‘jacks?” Gates said into his link. “We’re loaded now - and we’ll need it. We’ve got work to do still.”

New Objectives:
PHASE III:

Eclipse: Link up with Blackjack in Hangar 36/c, the hangar Blackjack has captured.

Once this happens, BJ and Eclipse will secure the Defense Network codes. Intelligence suggests a location in the main ‘bubble’ of Liberty station

Jester: Intel suggests Jester POWs are being held on station by Blanchard forces as an additional trading piece with NEEDLE. Free your comrades

Raiders: Intel suggests that the Blanchard leader is one ‘Fikk’ and that his location can be found by huge energy spikes in the normal flow of power on Liberty Station. Determine locations of high-energy sources and be ready to move.

NOTE: With the arrival of VE forces, several companies of VE Army troopers have been inserted onto the station. The element of surprise is largely gone, and station security, Blanchard mercenaries and NEEDLE army support elements are all mobilizing. There will be heavy combat between VE and adversary forces. Phoenix has been resupplied with the first wave of dropships, and SCOPE gear or one squad-wide uniform has been requested by each SL. I’d prefer if the uniforms are run by Havock or myself prior to use.

RAIDERS

Xy started pushing the large toolbox on wheels.  “Someone give me a hand.”  She grunted in effort, barely rolling the heavy metal box.  Mox hurried over and started helping her.  They moved it about thirty feet in front of the main entrance.

“Thanks. Let’s build up around it.” She panted with the exertion.  Holy sith. That was heavy.

Heliwer met Mox at the pile of crates and hoisted one together.  Dusk helped Xy lift one, but honestly he carried most of the burden.  Soon, everyone chipped in and they formed a formidable barricade in the shape of a horse shoe and about four feet high.  Xy leaned against it and fanned herself, beaded sweat rolling down her temples and neck.  Her face was flushed and her hair around her hairline was plastered to her skin.

Suddenly aware of more than one set of eyes on her, Xy ended her short break.  While the others started setting up a second barricade near the maintenance entrance, she gathered weapons and ammo from their fallen enemies.  As she was grabbing a blaster from one of the corpses she noticed the corner of a piece of paper sticking out of the man’s armor.  Curious, she gently grabbed it and pulled it out.  A hiss escaped between her teeth in an exhale.  It was a photo of her from the Velvet & Silk.  This man had somehow taken her picture while she was dancing without her noticing, pole included.

Jack meandered over to her.  “Everything all right Xy?”

Tucking the photo away into her breastplate before Jack could see, she smiled at her friend.  I’ll have to show it to Jack later, she’ll like it.  But right now isn’t the time.

“Yes.”  She took Jack’s hand and gave it a little squeeze.  She hated how distant they seemed to be during this mission.  Heliwer watched from a distance, always keeping an eye on Xylonia.

Jack’s smile turned into a grin and squeezed her hand in return.  “Let me help you, we haven’t had a real chance to hang out a whole lot recently.  Blows blaster bolts.”

Xy nodded, grateful for the chance to be with Jack, even for just a little while.  They continued collecting weapons, extra ammo and looking for anything else useful from the corpses.  The women laughed at jokes they told each other and even whispered in each other’s ears occasionally. Not too much time passed and it seemed as though a whole arsenal was placed within the confines of the barricade.

“Hmmmm, perhaps we should share.” Xy mused out loud.

“Yes, let’s share our bountiful booty with Jester’s barricade over yonder!  Ahoy Jester mates!”  Jack made sure to sound very pirate like, drawing a loud laugh from Xy.  Dunny and Bright gave the two women odd looks as Jack and Xy delivered armfuls of weapon and ammo to their newly built barricade.
“Looks like we are good shape.  Nice work Xy and Jack.” Bright nodded, smiling a little at the lightness of their moods.

“Lance Corporal John Kilroy Varl, I’d like a word with you, and this isn’t a request.”

“Yes sir right away sir.”

What the hell did I do now? John thought, swallowing one of the anti-sickness pills he found on the ship.  Walking quickly to the captain, John could hear the snickers coming from around the hanger bay.  Idly, he mused that the squad leader was distressed about the current condition of those under his command.  The real reason he found out was something not entirely different.

“What the hell is this with you being my third in command?”

“Sir?”

“What makes you think that you have the privilege of being the third in command of this mission?  Why do you….”

Taken aback, the Cadian was quite clearly surprised that his earlier statement came out the way it did.  While he could understand the others considering his pragmatism to be a bit blood thirsty, what had happened was something he entirely did not expect to occur.  The shock and confusion shown on his face relayed just how much of an idiot Kilroy began to feel.

“Saint Sabbatine….Did I really end up sounding like that much of an ass?  I never thought I’d pull a Simmons in my life, but here it is!”

“What?”

“I’m terribly sorry Captain; I never meant to come off like an arrogant snob.  It’s a bad habit of mine, and other Cadians, to think things on a purely pragmatic level and I didn’t realize how bad I came off.  Yes, I whole heartedly agree with you that I am nothing more than a trooper amongst equals.  It never occurred to me that you wouldn’t have the second highest ranked NCO be the first in line if the SL and ASL are incapacitated under normal circumstances.  I accept full responsibility for my actions as well as statements and have no excuses for my demeanor.”

“I’m glad we are on the same page.  However…You didn’t just take one of those medication pills did you?”

“Yes, I did; considering the fact that I’ve been suffering from vacuum sickness this entire mission, I felt it wise to take one so that I would return to being just an eccentric trooper instead of being a Blue Falcon for the remainder of this mission.”

“You know those give you the runs within the first 30 minutes…Right?”

Dejected, the humbled soldier fell onto his knees after hearing this statement.  It was bad enough that his superior had thought he was acting like an arrogant S.O.B, but this took the cake.  What sort of supreme being would condone such irony?!?

Luckily, the concentrated dose of spice that Joamer had given her would last quite a while, considering it had been injected directly into the woman’s bloodstream. It still had its claws in her mind, keeping her steady and calm from what would no doubt be an even worse withdrawal attack . A low sigh drifted over her lips as she continued to stare at the ground, even as Garryll’s new orders come through on the com. Was it shame, fright… maybe frustration with herself? It’d be a lie if she denied that it was all of the above, and that fact alone enticed yet another sigh to touch the stagnant air of the hangar that now bore piles of dead mercenaries. Finally, Jae slowly looked up, only to be staring into the slightly narrowed gaze of the Squad Leader.

“Garryll gave us n-“

“Yeah I heard them.” She quickly cut Joamer off, not exactly in the right mind to have things be repeated to her when it wasn’t needed. Instead, she rolled her shoulders back, twisting her head from side to side until she heard soft cracks from the joints that were being tugged on by her movements. With a grunt, she pulled her messenger bag to her side – all of her gear right by her after she had geared up into the new stealth SCOPE armor that had been dropped to them from the reinforcements – and shoved a hand into it, pulling out the datapad she had yet to attach back to her belt.

With a cock of his head, Joamer chuckled. “You have an idea I’m guessing?” Despite the chuckle, it was obvious that there was a sourness to his voice, his arm having just been bandaged from the nice gash that one of Jae’s Treppus-IIs had given him.

Jae looked up, brow quirked and shook her head in mock shame of Joamer. “What a stupid question.” Without a second to lose, she clicked on the datapad and brought up a map of the station. Option appeared on a sidebar and Jae quickly clicked one of them, enticing three little bleeps to pop up on the map. “This option allows me to track down high power sources for when I need a bunch of power to slice. We can use it to find Fikk.” Studying the map, she stood, slung her bag over her shoulder and nodded to herself. “Yeah, looks like there’s a spike in the Northwest center of the station, sixth floor somewhere. Probably the power cells that keep the station flora and fauna environments going. The second is eight floor, Southeast, so… closest to us. Looks like a power supply room, can’t tell what kind though. The third is in the Northeast, another power room, looks like.”

Joamer nodded. “Should we split up?”

“May be best.”

“Will you be okay?” The question was genuine, though laced with authority, the kind of authority that made Jae’s skin crawl.

With a grunt, and eyes narrowed she nodded.

Jae has a map of the station up on her datapad, with three spots of high power spikes. She noted their general locations and suggested that the squad split up in order to check out all three. Fireteams will be decided in IRC or on the Squad topic.

RAIDERS.

Nodding slightly to Jaenna he turned towards the pile of gear and finished putting on the squads new S.C.O.P.E. armor. It had taken months for them to receive the updated variety, this one had stealth, and low emissions than the previous set did. Their armor was stealth black, the same type used by Wraith. It was designed to confuse and bounce sensors off and away, their suits acted like one unit, hidden equipment was placed throughout giving them more flexibility and control and less need for carrying bulky items around.

The one function he loved most of all was the visor itself, most of the time the black eye pieces could not be modified. However, under insistence from him they had taken the old katarn commando helmet idea and simply placed a changeable light in the eyes. Standing in a darkened hallway then flipping on red, or any other color usually got pretty good results when the enemy spotted glowing eyes coming at them.

"Alright squad, listen up." He squad locking into place his gauntlet armor. "We have three power sources we need to check out, and since I know this squad just loves going off and being on it's own we've decided to split up. Jaenna, will take Rose and Dusk. I'll take Karash and Hel." Picking up his helmet he attached it to his belt as he began strapping on ammunition and power cells for the DLT-20a rifle that was sitting next to him. "For the time being, Coady will lead the third team. Mox and Beta will back him up, if there are any problems we will stay on open comms."

"Remember, this station has gone into lock down. The security cards you have should still work for now, however this place is becoming a hornets nest by the minute. Don't expect a warm welcome when we leave. Our reinforcements are here, but don't let your guard down." Jaenna said as she walked up beside him.

"Use any means you see fit to get to your objective. Less fighting the better, we may be well trained but taking on a whole security detail with three people is highly dangerous. This armor is thinner than our original gear so keep that in mind. This is designed for stealth, it will take some beating, but don't trust it to keep you alive if you feel the need to go up against ten people by yourself." Joamer continued as he looked at each member of the squad in various forms of suiting up.

"One of us will find this Fikk, do not engage if you come up against him. Keep him covered but stay far enough away he can't detect you. Call in the cavalry and we will come, once we group up together we will take him into custody or put him down." Joamer said as he locked his weapons belt into place.

"Jae, Coady. Move out when your team is ready." Joamer said as he shared a quick glance over at Jester. Shrugging to himself he waved to his team and headed towards a set of ducts.

JESTER

With the arrival of the drop ships, and Jester's new objectives, Bright was more than ready to finally bring her people home. She could feel something inside of her strengthen; her resolve maybe? She wasn't quite sure she could forgive herself for getting her comrades into the situation they now found themselves in. She'd been awaiting this moment and she was not going to show any mercy.

“Oi! Your Jester SL, right?” A gruff voice called from the loading ramp of one of the drop ships. Bright nodded and removed the helmet she'd been wearing since suiting up to take the hangar.

“That's right. You have supplies for us?” She asked walking up to the man.

Recognition dawned on his features, followed by a slow grin. “Well hell, if it ain't miss hellcat herself. I got what ya need right here in these crates.” The man carried himself with an air of confidence that said he knew what the hell he was doing and had been doing it for awhile.

“Storm Commando Armor?” She asked going up to the crate to open it.

“And weapons to go around.” The man replied.

“Jester's gear up. We have family to rescue.” Bright said when the crates were opened. She took the armor that was clearly meant for her as the only woman and changed on board the drop ship. That done she slung an E-11 blaster rifle over her shoulder and grabbed a few more power cells and placed them in the pouch on her belt followed by a few frag grenades.

It didn't take long for the rest of Jester squad to ready themselves either. “Okay boys, we're going to have to fight through the rest of the station. Naturally the detention center is in the main bubble of the station. We will be facing heavy resistance and I can't guarantee that we will always be able to avoid them. Stick together, watch each others backs.” She stared her boys down, her violet eyes betraying just how much she truly cared for her team.

Bright looked over at the man who'd brought their armor. “Gunney, care to join us?” She called.

“Thought you'd never ask. Name's Keberu, Callsign is Doregan. Raitonin Squad at your service.” The Doregan placed his helmet on his head and called his squad over. “Time to get to work boys and gals.”

Bright nodded. “We're going to take the maintenance entrance out, the map is on your data pads or will be soon up loaded, our projected route is highlighted.” She sent the information to Doregon and his squad. “I can't promise Raitonin safety.” She said seriously.

“Hey we're committed now, lets get going. You have family to rescue don't ya?”

Bright felt her lips twitch in a s smile before she gave the order to move out.

The woman stood where she was for a moment, watching as the two members of her fireteam finish suiting up, gathering their weapons and placing them in the designated holsters and sheaths that sat about their new, shiny armor. Those sea-foam eyes watched as every now and then Rose would look up from her weapons, and send a not-so-inconspicuous glare her way. It irked the ASL, but it wasn’t something she’d let get in the way unless the newbie trooper tried to deny her orders. Working with Dusk, however, will be like it always had been since being back in the squad: a little bit huffy, but willing to follow orders none-the-less. With a grunt, Jae pulled her helmet over her head, clicking the visor to a blue-green color. “This is going to loads of fun…” The whisper was laced with playful venom as she turned and watched the man responsible for her fireteam grouping head towards his chosen shaft.

Joamer had definitely helped her out during the last fire fight. The woman didn’t even have to wonder why or how he had gotten his hands on such a concentrated form of spice: it was to keep her safe. Jae knew that Joamer cared about her, but she still doubted his ability to fully understand why she had this spice addiction in the first place. It wasn’t as simple as she believed her Squad Leader and friend thought, but hopefully… she’d eventually be able to clear it up for him. In the mean time, she had to deal with the fact and the thought that if he hadn’t had that syringe on him… she may have gotten her squad and herself killed.

Turning back to face Rose and Dusk, she nodded to the both of them, who had finally finished gearing up. “Alright. We’re gonna head for the reading that’s in the Northwest center of the station. We’re going stealth, obviously, so keep your heads down and don’t waste ammo if you don’t have to.” She absent mindedly patted the few power cells she had for her DC-15 as she spoke the last part, then continued. “Make sure you’re climbing gear is on you, we’ll be running the vents, as usual, and I don’t want any Mox mishaps.” This enticed a couple of soft chuckles, at least she was getting somewhere with them.

Though, as soon as she raised her hand and gestured for them to begin following, Rose’s expression went right back to defiant and angry, once again causing Jae’s skin to crawl, her lips twitching as she fought the urge to say something. “Fireteam Beta, move out.” With her two team mates following her, she headed towards the western wall of the hangar, head high and confidence flowing through her veins. Although, it may just be the spice that she felt burning through her blood. Whatever it was… she needed it, she needed it bad. With each step her mind burned and howled, only held down by spice.

OOC:

Okay, Jae's team is herself, Whiskey and Dusk. They're heading towards the reading in the Northwest center of the station, which is most likely where the power cells that supply the flora and fauna environments their power and what not. They're vent running/climbing through most of it, but... we all know how that usually works out: There's gonna be fire fights anyways.

Me?

Since joining the RAIDERS he’d been beaten, shot, dropped, frozen, burned and scared witless. But never, never had Cody Davout been responsible for someone’s life. He looked at Mox, clipping power cells to himself and giving his own obstinate glare at Coad. He looked at Beta, who sat away from the other troopers, rather aloof considering the mayhem that’d just passed by. It may not be much of a deal to the rest of his squad, but the thought of these two men, both with more experience than  he, listening to his commands made his heart quicken. The sight of syntherope and carabiners in the crate was comforting to Cody, though.

Coad finished suiting up with the collection of a few concussion grenades. He looked at his data pad, scrutinizing the map shown on it. “Alright, guys. The power signature we’re taking is to the Northeast. It’s going to be a bit of a trip, but it looks like we’re going here,” he pointed to one of the bubbles attached  to the station. “It’s a residential zone, so I can only assume whatever it is we’re going for is powering the Grid. So… Let‘s hit this thing, and keep stealth over speed in our priorities list, okay?”

Mox sniffed indifferently, and Beta gripped his blaster rifle a little bit tighter. C’mon, Cody, they don’t need to know all this. They‘ve been around the station for two weeks, same as you. They don‘t need your two-sense. Coad nodded and clipped his data pad back on his belt. Friends, equals. Don’t treat them like anything less. “We’ll figure out the rest as we go along. Let’s get going, Charlie team.”

Cody headed to the East of the secured hanger doors, motioning for Mox and Beta to follow. He sidestepped debris and kept well away from the Stormtroopers jogging here and there within the bay, ships either being made into barricades or pulled to the edge of the force field by the large transports brought by the reinforcements. But as luck would have it, an officer in motioned to Cody’s fire team as they came upon the wall, step hurried and tone breathless. Quite unbecoming in the officer’s perfectly shaped hat and crisply creased uniform.

“Hey! Where are you going? We need hands over there, now.” The officer pointed to the far side of the hangar to where barricades were being established.

“Sir, the three of us are part of the RAIDERS squad, currently performing a vital task handed to us by our superiors.” Coad said back, standing up straight and tall just as he was taught to in training. The man picked up his cap and scrubbed at his hair furiously before giving a suspicious look at the trio before him.

“How do you plan to get out? The entrances are sealed, and you’re hardly getting transportation there with all that needs to be done ‘round here.”

“Well, sir, you know what they say about big ships,” Cody said, pointing a thumb up to a grate in the wall. Beta nodded solemnly behind him.

“Big ducts.”

It was clear that there was mumbling going on behind her, however the ASL, already in a less than desired mood, decided to ignore it. Only when Whiskey decided to openly disobey her would she say anything about it. Though, it was rather hard to completely ignore as the newby’s voice continued to bounce off the walls of the duct, ringing forwards to circle around Jae’s ears in a teasing, angering way. It caused her lips to twitch, her eye to narrow and her knuckles to whiten as her fists clenched with each inch she crawled further into the duct. It too everything in the woman to not stop abruptly, turn around and give Whiskey a good slap across the face, but she wouldn’t stoop to that, not if she didn’t need to… hopefully.

“Why are we always in the ducts? Why can’t we just go head on?” This time the complaining came from Dusk, another trooper who was known for disliking most of what the SL and ASL had to say, though he still followed orders, despite his complaining when he actually decided to speak up.

Whiskey scoffed, going back to her mumbling under her breath, leaving Jae with a sour taste in her mouth of bile rose to coat her tongue, her anger rising. With a deep breath, she pressed the urges back down, continuing her shuffling through the dust vent. “Because it’s tactile and useful when the station full of people who learned to trust us for the past two weeks have just found out we’re Stormtroopers who plan on fraking their shit.” It was hard to not let the venom seep through her voice, her tongue clicking against the roof of her mouth as she fought back an accompanying snarl.

Again, Whiskey scoffed, this time speaking up. “Exactly, we’re Stormtroopers, can’t we just blast them?”

“If you feel like getting your gorram ass handed to you, then be my guest, but until I decide it’s good idea to sacrifice one of my troopers, we’re vent-running. Got it?” The woman’s voice was full to the brim with the authority she hasn’t felt since the last time she was labeled the SL of RAIDERS, and by the creators it felt good to get that tone in her voice again. It made her realize, made her remember, how much she loved leading the RAIDERS, her family… but now she was just the second, the second with barely any command who was constantly challenged by the other troopers. Once more, her knuckles whitened as the memories of her stint as Squad Leader came rushing back, her fists shaking again.

“Oh great. Looks like she’s going to have another episode.” Whiskey’s voice struck Jae’s ears, bringing forth a snarl from the woman.

“Shut it, Whiskey. Until you know what’s actually up, don’t be judgmental.” Before Whiskey could respond, the three of them came upon a dead end with a grate blocking the way. “Looks like this is where we get off.”

Jae, Whiskey and Dusk are going through the vents, heading towards the Northwest power reading. They've only traveled about a football field's worth of vents, bringing them to a dead end with a grate that they can climb through. If you're still confused, this means they WILL be climbing out of the vent and coming into contact with a group of mercs or what have you. There are more vents, so feel free to - within the next few posts - get the firefight going then climb back into the next set of vents or something. Whatever you wanna do, just don't go too crazy. We do have an objective to complete.

“Well, sir, you know what they say about big ships, big ducts…”

Going through the ducts wasn't that hard, since most of theim they were creeping through them. The ducts were big enough to feel comfortable, but too small to run in them. And we’re stealthing anyway… Mox thought as he followed Coadster.

Being forced to put the new armor on, Mox felt like he barely moved.
“This armor is so idiotic… how can you wear it normally? You can’t move in it, you can’t do nothing!” Mox said as he creeped down a duct.

“Shush” Coadster said, trying to keep control of both Mox and Beta

And why did he get the third leadership role? Stupid idiot… Mox thought, getting angrier and angrier. I should have received it, Joamer knows I was a squad leader before! Mox couldn’t keep his speed steady, and started to speed up.

“Let’s hurry up, I want to get out this armor as quickly as possible.” Mox said in an agitated tone.

“No, we won’t speed up. Not all of us can move quickly and quietly…” Coadster exclaimed.

Idiot…” Mox mumbled under his breath so no one could hear it.
Soon the ducts were becoming harder to maneuver in, at least for Coadster and Beta. Mox could hear their heavy breathing, himself feeling light. As they came to a dead end, that only led up Coadster stopped.
“So, what shall we do now?” Mox exclaimed impatiently. Even though normally he would enjoy the ‘sneakiness’ of going through the ducts, he still felt angry because of Joamer’s decision.

“We’re going to have to climb up!” Coadster said looking up the duct. “Shouldn’t be too hard.”

“Not for me anyways…” Mox exclaimed “I’ll go first, and then help whoever’s next.”

“Sounds good. Go on.” Coadster said as he attempted to give Mox room to move through.

As Mox prepared himself to jump and climb up the duct, he couldn’t stop but feel the gazes of his squadmates. The young man then leaned against the wall and jumped as high as he could.

As he reached the highest point he shoved his legs onto the opposite wall of the duct. Immediately he pushed away his arm, and shoved his right leg onto the wall he was leaning on a second ago, resulting in a split-jump. After getting stable with his feet he smashed the wall of the duct with his cybernetic arm , resulting in a small hole. Mox hopped with his left foot, and placed it inside the hole. After shifting into proper position, he jumped as far as he could, using that hole as support. Using his cybernetic arm, he made another hole in the duct, at the same time using it as a support and pushed himself away even higher. Reaching with his right arm, the man grabbed the ledge of the duct. Mox pulled himself up and sat down. He looked to his right and saw a wall. Looking down he saw the continuation of the duct.

“Are you frakking SERIOUS???!!!” Mox shouted

“What, what’s wrong?” Coadster said

“God… Coad, blow up the wall, the duct goes back down.” Mox exclaimed, as he jumped down the duct, opposite the one to the one he came from.

Part of him smiled at the fact he was probably being a bad influence on his squad, all three groups had decided to use the duct system to get closer to their objectives. It was one of the many things left over from being serving in Wraith squad, using the ducts to move was quite valuable and very unorthodox if you knew how to do it. He groaned as he heard what sounded like another explosion through his ear piece.

"Who the fraking hell does not get the meaning of stealth?" Joamer said through gritted teeth to every member of his squad. He knew someone had forgotten they had stayed on open comms, and even if they had turned them off he could just override their controls if need be.

"Not my group." Jaenna said a few seconds later.

"Joa..." Coadster said softly, you could almost taste the annoyance in the younger man's voice.

"Don't tell me it's Mox." Joamer replied softly, he could just picture the soldier doing something truly moronic.

"He failed at climbing up a duct, so he started punching holes. Now he wants to blow a hole for us to follow him."

"Private Kerrolin, you will cease what you are doing and rejoin your fireteam. Coadster is in control, not you. You are also ignoring the fact we are attempting to arrive at our destinations quietly, not alert the bloody station to where we are." Joamer nearly shouted into the comm link, for the first time in a long time he was losing control of his anger. "Think before you act, you are in a metal duct system. Yes there is insulation and padding that dampens our movements. However, if I hear the banging from here you are being too loud, if I lose a single one of my troopers I swear you will not leave this station alive."

Signalling to the two men following him he continued down through his systems of ducts, careful to avoid any of the sections that seemed to lead straight down. For now he did not want to repel or climb inside these things, the noise created by hitting the walls that way would surely alert the guards to their locations.

Stopping for a moment he studied the basic layout situated on his HUD. He knew they would need to leave the duct system soon and continue on foot, he just needed to pick the best location. Preferably somewhere away from the main flow of people and soldiers now searching this station for them.

"There's an access hatch about forty feet up that leads to a supply closet for one of the sick bays." Karash said somehow reading his mind. "It's only used in emergencies and for restocking so it remains empty most of the day."

Nodding in agreement Joamer continued forward slowly, his movements made in such a way the noise from his armor hitting the duct in a way he hoped sounded natural to those around him.

Xy looked at the grate past Jae through the lavender illuminated lenses of her helmet.  I don’t like that she can wig out at any minute.  It’s a danger to all of us, and she cut Joamer.  I’m going to have a little chat with her after this, whether she likes it or not.  If my life is in her hands I want in on what the frakk is going on with her.

Slowly she crawled to the grate, “Let me check it out.”  Without waiting for approval from Jae, she popped the grate open, and lowered it slowly.

“Sorry, Jae, I need some leverage, hold still.” Xy sat with her back facing the open space and wrapped her legs around the ASL’s waist.  Jae stiffened and readied to punch her.  Xy whispered, “Consider this a compliment.  I don’t trust easily.  I do want to talk to you later though, after the mission.  I don’t know what’s up, but you can trust me.  I’m throwing you a bone as one bad ass bitch to another.  I want to trust you.”

With that, Xy leaned backward, her flexible body bending her all the way back so she hung completely vertical.  Without time to argue, Jae planted herself with her hands on the roof of the duct and her feet pressed firmly against the side, she easily held Xy’s weight.  Xy swiveled her head around, and there were mercenaries waiting for them.  Grabbing her two blasters quicker than the morons could notice the woman hanging; she swung her arms down and fired multiple shots.  One of the men fell in an audible heap and the others began returning fire.  Xy immediately did a sit up, pulling herself back up inside the vent, facing Jae.  Grinning she winked at Jae, but then realized her ASL could not see her through her helmet.

Bolts clanged against the ceiling and walls, and shouting could be heard below.  Jae tried to move to take action, but Xy pressed her gloved hand against the center of Jae’s chest.

“Wait for it.” Xy’s voice was calm and almost serene as if she was meditating.  Xy looked down.

“Wait for what-“Jae grunted through gritted teeth, her edge wearing thin, but Xy cut her off by unhooking her legs from around her and leaned back, letting herself free fall.  Jae reached out trying to grab Xy, not willing to let the bitch get herself killed, even if she wanted to beat the fodder out of her.

Xy used the momentum to throw her body into back flip.  Her legs wrapped around the man’s neck directly below her, her thighs squeezing against his head as hard as they could.  Mid flip, she twisted her hips in a fast jerk, snapping the man’s neck.  The man landed belly down with his head facing up.  The black armored woman landed on her feet perfectly and she had both her blasters pointed at the remaining mercenaries who ducked behind furniture for cover.

It would be a lie if Jae denied the flush that had found its way to her cheek as Whiskey wrapped her legs around her waist. Despite how long she and Havock had been together – even through their silly disappearances and what not – Jae couldn’t deny the flirtatious side that still resided in her mind. Even as the trooper had placed a hand on the ASL’s chest, then a  moment later had done a backflip into the room, the flushed color remained on Jae’s cheek. Luckily, no one could see it through the black SCOPE helmet. Shaking her head, she quickly brought herself back to the matter at hand, grabbed the edge of the vent and flung herself down in a precise leap, landing in front of Whiskey with her Treppus-IIs drawn and crossed in front of her chest.

“Whiskey, draw ‘em out.” The command was simple and spoken quickly as Jae ducked behind a desk for only a moment, waiting to hear blaster fire from her Trooper. As she soon as she heard the fire, she poked her head over the desk and watched as two mercs stood and began to fire at Whiskey. “Now duck!” And as soon as Whiskey had, Jae stood, the vibro edges of her blades taking a couple of bolts as she skillfully leaped over the desk and towards the two mercs. She twisted her hips, her blades coming uncrossed as she neared her targets with another bound off of a chair. Airborne now, she smirked down on the two mercs as the other few that were in the room had begun to fire at Whiskey and Dusk, who had finally exited the vent. With a final shove of energy, she thrust her arms forward, aiming to strike both mercs across the chest, hoping the take them down. Needless to say it was a shock when her blades nearly bounced off of the mercs armor, leaving naught but a deep gauge in the reinforce platoid.

“What the frak!” The curse left her lips, dripping venom, as she quickly twisted her hips as she landed, placing her right foot on the desk the mercs were hiding behind and bounded back over to hers and Whiskey’s desk. She quickly dropped down to her hip right hip, sliding behind the desk just in time to dodge blaster bolts. “They have better armor now. This isn’t going to be as easy as we thought.” She slammed her back against the desk and sheathed her blades, mumbling another string of curses to herself.

Quickly, she took out her datapad, entered her forged security password and opened up detailed files of the security and mercenary equipment. She studied it for a moment, then shoved the datapad back into her bag. “The armor’s weak spots are the knees. Take out their knees, you take all of them out.”

Nodding, Whiskey and Dusk both switched their targets, aiming lower. “You and that gorram datapad are dangerous.” Whiskey said with a light chuckle.

Firefight YAY. Jae looked up the armor these particular mercs are wearing with her forged security accesses, and determined the weak spots to be the knees. :3

Xy nodded at Jae, grateful her ASL was in control of herself and showing her talents.  When she’s with it, the woman is a god damn piece of art in battle.

“Cover me!” she cried out to Dusk and Jae.

She rolled along the floor over to the cabinet parallel to the desk they had been using.  With her back to the cabinet, she peered around the corner, Dusk’s and Jae’s firing ringing in her ears.  One of the mercenaries screamed out in pain, and fell to floor on one knee.

    “Nice shot Dusk. “Jae complimented.

Xy bent her arm around the corner of the cabinet firing blasts at the knees of the lone standing mercenary.  A return blast singed the armor on her arm, curls rising from it.  Her blasts hit home and the man fell, screaming in agony.  Xy jumped up from behind the cabinet, placing her feet on top of it and launching herself at the recently fallen mercenary.  Her arms were out in front of her and she caught his shoulders, pushing him onto his back, she landed on top of him.  In a flurry, she ripped off his helmet and put her blaster under his chin.

“For Reg.” She said solemnly before she pulled the trigger.

The man’s eyes rolled in the back of his head and Xy jumped off of him.  Jae had jumped on the back of the other mercenary who was firing at Dusk, who was fine, covered behind the desk.  Jae slipped one of her blades into the small gap between the man’s helmet and chest plate, cutting his throat effortlessly.  Blood flooded freely, pooling on the floor.  Jae stood gasping with the adrenaline rush and remnants of spice coursing through her.  The two women clad in black armor, one with sea foam illuminated lenses, the other with lavender, almost mirrored each other as they nodded to the other in unison.  Dusk stood staring at the two women and the destruction they had wrought.

“Frak me.” He muttered slightly stunned and impressed at the same time.

“No, frakk Blanchard,” Jae corrected him.  “Let’s move on, we can’t afford to waste time.”

Xy nodded in respect to Jae, “Lead on ASL.”  She waited for Jae to take the lead.  Xy felt slightly hot while she looked at Jae.  Although Jae was completely covered in the SCOPE armor, Xy could picture Jae’s smirk and the glint in her one eye.  Must be from the adrenaline.   Xy tried to reason with herself.  Actions speak louder than words.  Show her you meant what you said.

Jae smiled beneath her helmet, glad Xy was keeping her temper under better control and at least pretending to show her some respect, although maybe she wasn’t pretending?  Jae felt the hair on the back of her neck stand on end while Xy seemed to watch her.  She leaned against the door of the room and listened for any activity.

    “Sounds clear. Let’s go.”

Somebody being nailed by Gates? He’s getting desperate for normalcy, but, then again, please define normal. I graduated from the academy and get stuck with an unfamiliar squad on a mission on a planet that is so frozen even SCOPE armor can barely handle. Second mission, you ask? The higher-up thought, “Oh, let’s torture the new guy barely out of the Academy. Let me see where we can send him. Ooh, let’s try this station that is huge! And has a paranoid, and corruptible, security forces. And on top of all that make sure that it has New Republic forces! Perfect, torture him!” But in all fairness, they probably don’t care that much about the new guy. This is just another mission that had to be done and done quickly by the elite.

Sighing, Crest quickly shed the half-decent regular scout trooper camo armor he had borrowed. He rapidly, and happily, donned his true camo SCOPE armor. He grabbed the new A280, having traded his StA-3 Strova Machine Gun to a regular stormtrooper, who had been more than happy to get an exotic gun. The spent M404 MAW had been tossed away uselessly somewhere into the hanger.

I wonder when Eclipse will get here. I hear Skarr, my old training officer, runs it. Wait a sec; why the hell do I have a comm frequency with Gates?

“Boss? When is Eclipse going to get here, so we can get moving?”

“They should be here soon. We’ll set up a perimeter outside the hanger. That’ll allow us to get moving as soon as we have visual contact with Eclipse. ‘jacks, move out.”

Crest quickly turned and proceeded out of the hanger, catching a glimpse of Kilroy and Gates separating. The various Blackjacks proceeded out in a rag-tag formation, knowing that the preceding ‘ground-pounders’, as they were called by the shuttle pilots, had exterminated the pests in this area.

“Kilroy, Crest, sweep the area. It never hurt to be careful.”

“Roger that, boss.”

“Yes, sir.”

The two of them moved out and swept the bodies, making sure they were dead.

“Wa-water, please?” issued from a voice from a nearby body, which had the armor issued to the regular security of the station.

“Yeah, I’ve got something better,” retorted Crest, devoid of emotion. He pulled his A280 to his shoulder and fired once. The body went limp, devoid of life. The rest of the sweep found nobody else that was alive.

“Are you ever going to be disturbed about the people you kill?” asked Kilroy.

“Already over it; why do you ask?”

“Nah, it’s just that I’ve seen a few people who have frozen up because they’re disturbed about their kills.”

“You know what? It’s much better when you’re not being half-idiotic.”

“I’ll need to do better then.”

The hand of friendship, the offer of trust, the idea of a functional partnership, had all been extended to Jae within the last five minutes, and her mind was still trying to catch up. For so long she had been content with the friends she already had, and had been even more content with keeping everyone at blaster’s length. Trust wasn’t something that came easy to her, and having the friends she did had already put her mind on edge, giving her more of a reason to freak out and lose control when one of them was threatened. Now, there was the prospect of a possible new friendship, and the woman couldn’t lie and say that she was happy about it, in fact her palms were sweaty with anxiety, her hands shaking and her cheeks flushed. Despite how willing Whiskey seemed to get over her apparent dislike of Jae, the one-eyed woman wasn’t sure if she’d be able to open up the same way, and it scared her.

Even with these thoughts clinging to the back of her mind, Jae was more than excited to found out that, even if the two ended up not being friends or having any sort of trust between each other, they had found a wonderful combat groove. It had been a while since she had fallen into such a groove, and an empowered feeling was rushing through her veins now. Smirk still heavy on her lips, the team of three continued down the hall way, the adrenaline rushed ASL taking point, DC-15 at the ready to defend her troopers.

“We should find another vent, this place is too crazy with mercs right now.” Whiskey whispered, her own blaster ready, muzzle pointed up and held by her shoulder as she walked with her knees slightly bent and close to the wall.

Nodding slowly, Jae looked down to her wrist com where a small version of the station map displayed the power reading they were heading for. “We still have a while before we reach the point, too. But there aren’t any shaft openings until another hundred yards- TAKE COVER” The change in her voice from tactile to commanding was drastic and instantaneous as her eyes caught sight of a group of five mercs rounding a corner and heading for them. Luckily they had come to a hallway intersection, allowing them to press their backs against the walls, allowing the scattered blaster fire to streak down the hallway by them. Dusk and Jae had their backs pressed against the left side of the intersection, Whiskey on the right.

“They’re pressing down! We barely have any cover!” Dusk’s voice was riddled with worry as he pointed his blaster around the corner and fired blindly into the group of mercs.

Jae scoffed and tapped the top of his helmet with the butt of her DC-15. “Shut that shit, Dusk. Get your mind together and don’t lose yourself to worry.” She chuckled softly and began firing at the mercs.

The fire they were under was heavy. These five goons were more talented than the last group. We’re going to have to outsmart them.

Xy whispered in her comm mic, “Jae, I have an idea. Use me as bait.”

Jae cocked her head, her sea foam lensed helmet looking almost alien the way it moved. Unsure of how Xy could be used as bait, Jae inquired, “How?”

“They’ll probably recognize me from the Velvet & Silk. Pretend I’m your hostage and let’s draw them into close combat.” Xy was breathing in excitement. The adrenaline pumping through her veins excited her in more than one way. Without hesitating, Xy pulled off her helmet, her lavender hair cascading down her shoulders in a frazzled mess. The color of her lips and cheeks gave away the heat that was building inside her. She concealed her blasters and nodded to Jae.

“I’m ready when you are.”

Jae was not convinced. “You sure this will work? They could blow both our heads off!”

Xy leaned close to Jae’s helmet and whispered in the comm link bracelet she still wore, “Yes. Trust me, they will recognize me. I was a big hit. You placed me in the right job here.” Xy winked flirtatiously at her ASL.

Jae let out a deep breath, hoping she wasn’t about to make a huge mistake. Jae wrapped her arm around Xy’s throat, put her blaster to her head and shouted out to the enemies. “Hold your fire or the skank gets it!”

The symphony of blaster fire ceased followed by a short silence.

“What?!” yelled one of the men.

Jae pulled Xy around the corner by her neck, her blaster pressed against her temple. Xy put on a fake face of fear and started to cry.

“P-p-p-p-please! She means it! She’ll kill me! She’s a crazy bitch!” Xy let her bottom lip tremble and her eyes pleaded with the mercenaries.

The men all gasped as one. “It’s Starlight Lilah! You bitch! Let her go!”

Jae cocked an eyebrow under her helmet, Xy had been right. They knew her on sight. “You want her?! Come and get her!” Jae snarled, taunting the men. “You can have her, if you just take her and leave.”

The men all looked at each other, uncertain. “Send her over here.”

“Not a chance. Come get her and be gone.” Jae snapped as vicious as a raging rancor.

Jae took one step forward, pushing Xy forcefully. Three of the men approached, two remained back holding their weapons on Jae. Dusk nodded, hidden around the corner. Jae knew he would handle those two. Two of the three men came in on either side. The third came down the center. Each man took one of Xy’s arms and Jae removed her weapon slowly from Xy’s head, but still had it pointed at her. Xy smiled at the men.

“Thanks boys.” She grabbed each man’s head and shoved them together instantly, both men fell to the ground unconscious.

RAIDERS

“Did you hear that, Randall? Sounded like gunshots!”

“The heater’s giving one helluva kick today. Maybe I should call the mechanic…”

Mox jumped landed unseen with the accompaniment of the loud warble of metal. It sounds like a thunderstorm’s close. Coad sighed inwardly. He hadn’t wanted to get Joamer involved. And while his squad leader’s anger wasn’t directed at him, it still felt like a little bit of failure. He stood up in the vertical duct and pulled out  some syntherope, untwirling a good bit of it from the container before tossing the heavier dispensing side over to Mox. It hit the other side of the ‘U’ shaped duct with a small tink! and he could feel Mox grab it.

“Mox, we can’t rightly blow a hole in the wall. Just hold onto that so we can get ourselves up and over, alright?”

There was no reply, but when he gave a tug the rope didn’t yield. It was good enough for him. He held the rope out to Beta, who took it and scaled up the wall, using the previously made holes in the wall to make it up. The rope was tossed down again, and he wrapped it ‘round his hand. He hated to admit it, but the holes made the going twice as easy.  He hit the top and went over, pausing only a moment to see if either trooper was underneath him. Mox handed him his syntherope dispenser and he nodded, grateful for the helmets between them.

“Alrighty, let’s keep going. Not too far, now.”

He avoided the offshoots of the duct system, staying instead to the slightly curving main duct, which was as spacious as air ducts got. The only branches as big as the main system were those going to the ‘bubbles’, and Coad counted them as they passed. When they got to the third one, Coad stopped the train, double checked his map, then pointed at the shaft.

“Alright, this one should lead us to the city.”

He didn’t get a response, but the troopers followed him all the same. At the end of a shaft it forked, the duct circling around the small city pod in both directions. Alright, he thought to himself as he led them to the left a-ways to get a more discreet exit point. Now the tough stuff begins.

The grate he finally decided on using was along the circuitous street that ran in a complete circle around the pod, behind a massive tree that hid the exit point. Thanks to the tree, the ten foot fall from duct to ground was avoided. The city was still lit by the single flourescent bulb playing as a star, but searchlights made things a little brighter in the dome. Time for some more insanity in the RAIDERS. He waited for a group of security forces to drive past, then he waved his group onward.

“Let’s make this quick and quiet. The new season of ‘My Blaster Runs Hot’ is coming soon, and I’d rather not watch it in a POW camp.”

In the city now, checkpoints are set up and patrols are all about. It's a jungle out there!

JESTER

By the time that Jester and Raitonin Squads had reached the main body of the station, they had already been faced with three unavoidable battles. They had all managed to survive so far by the grace of whatever god had been looking down upon them. Bright was beginning to feel that now familiar throb at her temples, and wondered if life would continue to give her headaches as bad as the ones she'd been experiencing lately.

Bright was at point, with her rifle held expertly in her hands. She'd been doing this for a long time, and she had participated in missions to save others, but never before had they involved her own squad. Directly behind her was Therex. Despite the fact that she knew that their only trained medic should be further back in the line, she felt more comfortable knowing the Chiss man was at her back.

“Ten meters to go.” She said through the squad channel that they now shared with Doregan and his boys. “Be prepared for anything.”

The entrance to the main body was just ahead. She could see it through her helmet's visor. She squared her shoulders and followed the procedure for approaching an uncleared entrance. She normally wasn't a by the books kind of person, but this mission it was important that things be done the right way. “If you go low I'll go high, Boss.” Therex said taking position on the other side of the entrance.

Bright nodded and waited for the others to take their positions before keying the entrance code that would get them into the main 'bubble.' She rounded the corner in a crouch while Therex stood tall. The moment they saw Liberty security personnel, Bright didn't hesitate pulling the trigger. The good thing about this entrance was that it was a maintenance storage facility and had plenty of cover for her guys just inside the door. The bad part was the cover also available to their enemies.

“Take cover and fire at will. There is plenty of cover so watch yourselves.” Bright said. She rolled to her right  taking cover behind several crates of cleaning supplies. Coming in behind her Therex went left.

She couldn't be sure, but she thought she noticed Doregan and three of his squad follow her to the right. Making herself as small a target as possible, Bright lay down on her stomach and fired around her cover catching a Liberty security guard with a crimson bolt to the spine and finishing him off with a shot to the head.

“See, I told you, you were a Hellcat.” Doregon said from her left side firing from around his own crate. “Now how much would you ask for if I asked you to teach my lads and lasses?” He sounded like he was carrying on a comfortable conversation rather than sitting in the middle of a firefight.

Bright just snorted and continued firing.

494. Jester and Raitonin Squad are now in the main 'bubble' of Liberty Station. Currently they are in some kind of maintence facility in the middle of a firefight. Jester's please remember that while we have plenty of cover, so does the enemy.  Sorry it took me so long. Past two days have been busy.

RAIDERS

It took less than a moment for the dumbfounded looks on the other mercs to be shaken from their faces and for their fingers to go stiff on the triggers of their blasters. The next few movements from the other six people who were still standing seemed to happen all at once.

Dusk came around the corner just as he heard the clonk of the two mercs’ heads, his blaster firing two well aimed shots for the knees of the two mercs in the back. The two mercs fired again, this time at Dusk who was now visible from just around the corner. One shot singed his shoulder, while the other struck his thigh, enticing a loud grunt as he fired his own weapon again, those bolts colliding with the mercs’ chests and knocking the wind out of them. Whiskey was still smirking at the two she had knocked out, leaving her vulnerable to the bolt that was now flying towards her unprotected head. With well-trained reaction time, Jae grabbed the lavender haired woman with her left hand, flinging her to the left and against the wall as she stepped forward and raised her right arm. The bolt collided with a dull thud and the sizzle of durasteel against Jae’s cybernetic forearm, and within the next moment Jae’s DC-15 was aimed at downward, firing two shots for his knees, causing him to crumple over.

The fury that lit her eye was blocked by the sea-foam visor of her armor, which may have been best, especially if looks could kill. The same fury that burned on her face forced her forward, her left hand drawing on of her Treppus-IIs, and bringing it down in a quick slash against the back of the merc’s neck. With a trained leap, blood trailing from the sparking edge of the vibroblade, she tucked the point of her blade under one of the writhing mercs that Dusk had taken down, killing him, her other hand shoving the muzzle of her blaster into the same vulnerable neck area, firing a shot.

Blood dripped from her blade as she stood in the mess of the three men she had just finished off, but even that didn’t make her happy. As she turned, she was glad Whiskey couldn’t see the fear and worry on her face, but it was harder to hide it from her voice. “Don’t ever do that again. You almost had a hole in your skull.” It was possible the fear was more evident in her voice, but she didn’t leave time for her two troopers to ponder on it. “Lets keep moving. Now.”

As she sheathed her blade again, she could hear Whiskey landing a final pistol whip to both of the men she had knocked out with the comical double head-bonk. Dusk sighed, and reloaded his weapon, standing from his crouched position. The three moved on, their pace quickened as they trotted down the hallway, weapons ready to quickly take down any other enemies.

Another altercation, fun fun. Dusk got shot a couple times, but it'll mostly just bruise, Jae's right arm may be damaged, and Whiskey almost took a shot to the face. Fireteam Beta is now moving much quicker, almost 2/3s of the way to their destination.

RAIDERS.

Kneeling down with his eyes closed and his breathing slow, he let his mind go quiet as his ears strained to hear any sound coming from the hallway outside their small storage room. The forty feet, eight foot drop to the floor and the long wait for any alarms to go off was behind them. Now they needed to make sure they would not be opening the door in the middle of an ambush, or a patrol of very angry guards.

Drawing his particle magnum he signaled to Karash to stand ready as he nodded to Heliwer. After a moment the young man slapped the door controls as the large door slid open nearly silently. Counting to five slowly he leaned out to see an empty hallway, after a moment he clucked his tongue then stood up and walked into the brightly lit passageway.

Raising his hand to signal the all clear he saw the same patrol he had been worried about moments before step into view in perfect formation. The officer at the lead froze for a moment as time seemed to stand still. Shrugging his shoulders at the man he raised his magnum and fired as he dove back into he room. A moment later blaster fire from the patrol ricocheted off the door frame before the door could shut all the way.

"Frak, those blasted sharpshooters melted the sliders. The door is stuck halfway closed now." Heliwer cursed as he slapped the door controls again in anger.

"Kar, move up into the duct again. Go straight down till we reach the medbay..." Joamer started to say but cut off as he heard the sounds of something slamming down inside the ducts above them. "Fraking hell, don't tell me."

Jumping back down into the room Karash sighed heavily even with the armor on and said, "They sealed the ducts, some type of grating that disallows even rats to pass through easily. Air still gets through, but not us."

Pushing his back up against a wall he slid down halfway and started to chuckle mostly to himself. He saw Heliwer lean outside the door to take a few quick shots then duck back inside but it was mostly for show. A three man fireteam was not effectively trapped in a medical supply room where they would most likely be shot a few minutes from now.

Well, the irony here is pretty awesome really. We use ducts the way Wraith used to, now we get trapped in a medical room where we will now be shot. He thought to himself as he watched a well aimed blasted shot graze the left side of Heliwer's helmet. A split second later it would of gone through the helmet into the man's brain.

Pulling out a grenade from a belt pouch he tossed it up into the air as he caught the attention of both his troopers. Sighing once he watched as they both removed two different types of grenades before moving to stand a few feet from the door.
