Built four years before the Battle of Yavin, Outpost 65-B was designed to be a major trading hub on the Corellian Trade Spine. It succeeded, as it served as a fuel depot and trading hub for traders on the Spine. For a full decade, 65-B was a hotspot for trade in the Mid-Rim, and gained a reputation as a place where just about every single legal good (and a good number of illegal) could be had for a price.
However, with the Fall of Courscant, six years after the Battle of Yavin, Outpost 65-B declared itself independent of the Empire, under the guiding hand of ex-Imperial Governor Baff. They were free to make money without the taxation of the Empire. Over the years since, Outpost 65-B has renamed itself “Liberty Station,” in response to its freedom. Interestingly, relationships between Liberty Station and the New Republic have become quite cordial, and many New Republic operations have run through the station.
The inside of the station is what makes it truly interesting. While each of the 'arms' holds hanger bays of various sizes, the center 'bubble' is dozens of levels that vary in layout. There are several different environments in the station as well, ranging from a small, multi-level jungle with a host of small animals to several parks and city-like broadways with room for speeders.
