The ship careened downward, spirals of smoke furrowing back toward the heavens. Support craft on all sides dove at higher speeds to keep up. The thick blanket of cloud cover broke, revealing landscape of mountains, gorges and plains. Thousands of feet up, the impending fate of the vessel
Aerolark became obvious. The crash would be catastrophic, and all aboard would be lost. Minutes ago, the Captain had sounded the alert...
"All you who can, escape by pod or whatever means avail you."
Picking up speed, the main components of the ship's aeronautic capabilities broke off in chunks; pneumo-flaps, low thrusters, core and outer stabilizers. Flashes and sparks emitted on all sides. Escape pods disembarked with pops and blips of orange-white light. Catching the wind, they slowed and were tossed into the smoke-trail of the doomed frigate.
Lying in the nether regions of outer space above, the battle space was a blur of debris and lancing cannon fire. The Imperials, who had believed themselves to be on the attack when they hypered into the space above the planet Enosk, were immedietly unballanced by the superior Republic forces. A well placed trap that had made the outcome obvious from the first turbolaser strike. Escape was impossible, due to the large gravity well that had been launched soon after the battle's initiation. The imperial ships would be picked off, one by one...
Mon-Cals of all kinds worked their way through the arena, devouring small and large imperial ships alike. The captain of the
Aerolark, had directed his frigate toward the planet Enosk in a desperate attempt to avoid immediate destrcution. As the
Aerolark broke away, smaller Republic ships nipped at it's heels, and an MC-80 had blasted away the ship's shields with turbolaser pot-shots. Before the
Aerolark ever entered the atmosphere of Enosk, much of its maneuvering mainframe was already disabled or destroyed. The fighters that had managed to deploy tried to follow their mother-ship's uncontrolled descent. As they did, though, they were picked off as well. The battle would not last much longer.
