G’day there, and welcome to the Vast Empire Navy!

My name’s Sam Dunn, and I will be your Training Officer (Or TO for short) during your study at the Naval Academy – I’ll be your guide through the process that’ll teach you everything you need to become a fully-fledged member of the Navy. In the Vast Empire, you take on the role of a character who is enlisting with the Vast Empire’s Military (yours has chosen the Navy, but you’ll meet characters in other divisions in time)– a character that you’ll create yourself. Essentially, you’re telling that character’s story. Their thoughts, their feelings, their actions – you’re in control of all of these things. By introducing yourself here, you’ve taken your first step into a larger world. Now, let’s take the second.

Let’s make your character.

Think carefully about what kind of character you make, as you’ll be playing them throughout your career in the Vast Empire Navy – if you want to make a new one, you’ll have to start all over again. You’ll find the basic information that you need to get started [here], which will outline what you need to create your Character Bio. Read through the information, then post your completed biography in this thread for evaluation – don’t worry about the ID line and Wiki page yet, we’ll get those sorted out after we have figured out your character. For now, just get that bio completed and posted.

Okay, lookin' good! I'm seeing no major inconsistencies (or even minor ones), and there's no overdone drama, so that's an excellent start. It's looking a bit bare, but character development will fix that - just remember to keep working on and adding to your profile as your character goes through their career and gains experience.

Okay, so that's Part 1 done! You're on step closer to being a member of the Vast Empire Navy!

Now, you have a choice to make - the Vast Empire Navy has two Corps, and you get to select which one you wish to join. Here's a quick rundown of the two Corps and what each entails.

Starfighter Corps (SC)
Strap into the cockpit of your TIE Interceptor and prepare for a pulse-pounding high-adrenaline fight, because the Starfighter Corps puts you in command of one of the fastest fighters in the galaxy, and pits you against an enemy that is determined and deadly. You won't be alone though - you'll work with a squadron of fellow pilots, and someday you may even be in command!

Fleet Command (FC)
Take your position on the bridge, and become part of a highly trained and motivated team that operates one of the most powerful warships in the entire galaxy! As a part of the bridge crew of a Star Destroyer, apocalyptic firepower rests at your fingertips, and if you play your cards right, you may even end up as captain of your very own ship!

Both Corps are a fun and exciting way to role-play in the Vast Empire Navy, and each is equal in terms of rank and position, so don't worry about being bossed around.

Congratulations! You're now enlisted in Flight School, as a trainee with the Starfighter Corps. As you've already got your Character BIO done, you've already completed step 1 of training, so well done!

Next up, we need to complete Stage 1 of your training at the Naval Academy. To do that, you need to complete your ID Line, which tells everyone at a glance all they need to know about your current status in the Vast Empire Navy, as well as your Wiki Page, which is basically your character's entry into our database.

First up, your ID line. The tutorial for how to create an ID line can be found here, and will give you all ya need to get started on it. Update your signature (you can do that by clicking profile, at the top of any page on the Comnet) to include your finished ID line, and reply here after you've done that so I can see your work.

If you want to see an example of a finished ID line, mine is located in my signature, and the wiki guide has plenty of examples as well.




After that, it's time to start on your wiki page. This is one of the more important parts of your academy training, as this is where your character BIO is going to go, along with a record of any promotions, medals or other nice shiny things you earn go - if your ID line is your career at a glance, then this is the proper look. If you're not registered and logged into the Vast Empire's wiki site, then you'll need to do that first.

After that, just follow the instructions on this guide here, and you'll be done in no time! Don't worry about making it too fancy, all it needs to do is follow the profile instructions and have your BIO, ID Line and sidebar information included.
