And giving a bit of an update :P

My current PC is dying, so I've bought some new parts.  Let me know what you think:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz (6-core) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103849&cm_re=phenom_ii_x6-_-19-103-849-_-Product)

Heatsink: ARCTIC COOLING ACFZ13 92mm (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186039)

RAM: Kingston HyperX Blu 2x2GB (4GB) DDR3-1333 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104206)

PSU: SILVERSTONE Strider Essential Series 700W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256072)

Motherboard: ASUS M4A88TD AM3 USB3.0 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-131-646&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=100&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Keywords=%28keywords%29&Page=2#scrollFullInfo)

GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI-E 2.1 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150515)

Hard Drive: SATA Barracuda 1.5TB 5900 RPM (Seagate)

My main concern was that I'd need more than 700W, but I've been told that I'm ok.  I was originally going to stick with my NVIDIDA 8800 GT 512MB, but I got that card some 3+ years ago, so I figured I'd need to update it since I'm updating many of the other parts anyway.

I'm interested in knowing your thoughts, and I guess some potential problems I may run into with the current build... I'm just crossing my fingers that everything runs alright, and that nothing came DOA.

I'm not too sure about the other parts but I can tell you for sure that ASUS makes good products though the really good ones don't run cheap.

I've been using ASUS going on 3 years and it still runs as though it was brand-new

And good to have yo drop in btw

Cool.  Yeah, with that setup, you're probably fine with a 700W power supply.  The biggest thing that will drain your power is the motherboard w/ CPU and the graphics card.

Normally, the CPU and GPU will say what type of power supply they require and will note the minimum especially if it's more than a normal amount.

From my experience, it's usually the RAM that is the issue on a new build; especially if all the specs are right.  I just had to replace my power supply, but it was a few years old....though I've had RAM go out a few times that were brand new.

Hopefully all goes well!

Thanks... Yeah, my fear is that the RAM or the DIMM slots are bad.  I was lucky with my first build.  I currently have 4x1GB red-heatsink OCZ sticks.  The new build has 2x2GB Kingston's, so I'm crossing my fingers that Kingston holds up to its name and doesn't have any dead sticks.

The XFX Radeon 6850 says "500W PSU Recommended".  I *think* that's saying "We recommend a 500W PSU for this card, knowing that you also have RAM, CPU, and other peripherals to power", haha
