The following list is of pre-awarded certificates. These can be applied to any of the Certifications that you qualify for. Each Certification requires three (3) "certificates" to be considered complete. Each member is required to complete any of the ancillary skills that's required to complete. These should be completed as soon as possible, on the newly created "Naval Certifications" comnet. You have 30 days from the posting of your freeby Cert choices to complete your Pre-Reqs ***** The following people are allowed to 'grade' a Certification. When you have determined where you would like your pre-awarded Certifications to go, post them in this thread and place them in your WIKI. Drac was gracious enough to create a table specifically for the Certifications. It can be found here. Here is an example of how it should look (generally, you can place it where you like). One more thing : Each member will get one (1) ancillary skill automatically placed per certification (Note that it requires 3 certificates to receive a Certification). Example : You want Top Gun, you can choose to either award yourself A) Advanced Fighter Maneuvers or B) Fighter Tactics. NOT BOTH. F.A.Q.S - - Do I put these certifications in my ID Line? Yes, look on the certification page that you wish to obtain, beside each mission is the medal you will be awarded upon completion. For each Tier you complete, you are to replace the previous one. (Example - You go from TIE/sa Bomber to TIE/ad Avenger, replace (=TG=) with (=^TG^=)) Naval High Command

for your rank and time served you were awarded 3 free certificates.
you can choose from any of the specialties and apply your certificates toward them.
they must fall w/i your rank pre-requisites.
so, if you chose Top Gun. you could immediately take first and second missions as done. and one of the Ancilliary skills (Tactics or Manuervers). you would place [=^TG^=] on your ID line.
you would have to wait until you reached CPO to claim your third and final certificate. you would also have to write up the other remaining ancilliary skill for this certification.
once that happens, you'd have the entire Top Gun Certification finished on your character, and could change [=^TG^=] to [=*TG*=]

Certifications are much like the specializations the army uses. We use these to improve our stories and characters.
You were pre-awarded 1 certificate, meaning you may use that to opt out of writing a mission. In order to obtain a full Certification, one must complete the 3 missions (or certificates) as well as the required ancillary (support) skills listed in the certifications page on the wiki. There are links one one of my posts above.
If you look on the main Naval Certifications Page, you will find a lot of the information to help you attain each certificate, things like word counts, rank requirements, and so forth.

Okay, with the very patient help of StOrMz and Atrasin, I THINK I have the Certification system figured out. If I don't, no doubt someone will correct me in short order.
My career goal is to be certified as a Bridge Officer, but since that requires two fully completed certifications, I need to work on something else in the meantime.
For now, I'm going to work on the Top Gun certification program. Atrasin told me I get 1 free Ancillary skill and 1 free certificate. I choose Tier 1.1 - TIE Bomber as my freebie certificate, and Advanced Flight Maneuvers as my freebie Ancillary Skill (which will make me eligible for Tier 1.2 - TIE Avenger).
StOrMz graciously rewarded a little extra credit project I did with another certificate freebie, which I will apply to the aforementioned Tier 1.2 - TIE Avenger certificate.
So, with all that, I'm complete through Tier 1.2, and I need a promotion and the Ancillary Skill Fighter Tactics before I can move on and complete Tier 1.3 - TIE Defender by writing a mission post.
I HOPE that's all accurate. If not, I will update Wyl Trykon's wiki page to reflect whatever IS accurate: I'm not trying to claim more than I'm earnin'. Is my flagship ready, Captain?
