great work guys! I'm very happy that Storm re-opened, it was my home for a large part of my time here and has always been in my heart the Platoon that had felt right to me compared to WildCard.

Post, people, I want posts.  The sooner we get to Bakura, the sooner I introduce the bad guys.  Anyone who served in the 09 HSC will remember the elaborate bad guys of Raasaa and Demortis I created, which got me the Cross of Zahn, my only writing medal.  Trust me then when I say good things are coming, but they can only come if you- the troopers- take 15 minutes to half an hour each day or so to post on the story.

I also know it can be hard to find the inspiration to post.  Know then that I also am very generous with medals and recommendations for promotion when they are merited.  The Vast Empire needs devotion and dedication, and I am willing to help you gain status among your peers if you are willing to give me some of your time by posting, and posting well, on the story.

Additionally, I will be paying 1,000,000 ICs to the trooper with the most posts in this story; 750,000 to the second; and 500,000 to the third.  Quality will be considered above quantity.

So how do you get started?  Work on your characters.  Make for some good drama.  Not the crappy, bickering and romance kind of drama, but good wholesome drama.  Have your trooper despise another trooper because they believe in different gods than you- or have your trooper be a supporter of the return of a unified empire and find someone else who is not a supporter of that and debate it in story.  Discover who your characters are and then tell us everything about them, in a meaningful, well written way.  That will get you respect, and will put you on the road to being a very successful army man or woman.

Another thing I'd like to encourage is the creation of NPCs, particularly companions/arch enemies of player controlled characters.  Back when I was working on my Communications Technician specialties I created a character called "the Janitor" who acted as a mentor to Ron and taught him most of what he knows today.  You could give your trooper a side kick, or an enemy, or a best friend, or a mentor, or (if you're careful) a romantic partner.  You have so much potential as a writer to create so much, don't be afraid to tap into your creative medium. 

And if you are completely stumped for ideas on what to write, most importantly TALK to your SL or to someone on IRC who has been doing this for much longer than you.  We are all more than happy to help, so please do not get discouraged if you can not think of anything to write.  Ask one of us, and we will help you to build a creative and fun to write character.

I will have created the big three NPCs after tonight, and will introduce them to you all in story either today or tomorrow.  Should get us landed by then as well.  Don't let that keep you all from posting.
